Gosh, I just fell in love with this Fly. This must be a great trout catcher. I have everything but the Amherst Feathers. I need to learn how to tie these wing-backs as I have shies away from these types of wings and I don't know why. Thank's Davie, you really inspire my fly tying.
That's the kind of fly tying a like so much. Nice wings, some different feathers used. The classic old stile tied in perfection. Thank you davie for all your vids.
Now that’s a beauty and right up my street! I’ll be giving this one a go although, there are a couple of steps that are above my pay-grade! lol Thanks for another great tie Davie.
This fly should catch me some nice brown trout's. The trout's at my small river really like the classic wet flys and this colour combination should work very well too. I will definitely make some for next year, thank you.
Thank you Davie. I have tied a few using the green feather from the golden pheasant, also for the tail. As you say it may break up more easaly, but I do not have the lady amherst. The golden pheasant skin is so useful and easy to get by, so it feels good to use the overlooked green feather as well. I have not seen it in any pattern?
A beautifully simplistic fly. Seeing your wing being too high reminds me of a similar problem I have I want to ask you about. When I tie in wings and have tgot my lenfth, angle and do my pinch and loop a few times then when let go, the wings are pointing skywards more in a much wider angle from the shank than they were before? What am I do wrong or how do I correct this? Many thanks for your great vids they have helped me alot through covid 19.
Hi Alan, As you saw in the video I had to have another go at tying the wing on which if I'm honest I do most times as I feel makes tying it on far easier and as well I find it sits far better the second time round..Having a flat and even layer base of thread rather than a lumpy one will also help to get the wing to sit nice as well. Although I wouldn't worry to much about the wing sitting up as it will still fish ok and sit nice after a few cast when fishing.....I'm glad yo enjoy the videos and that they have helped you.. All the very best Davie..
Hi Lawrence, A light and gentle touch at times will work best though even at times I will sit and tye a few to get the wings right but I enjoy this if I am honest so practise will always pay off..Good luck on Saturday.. All the very best Davie
Great fly as always Mate. Beauty. Guess I'll have to get a Lady Amherst skin. Nice feathers. By the way, do you fish this on a 2 or 3 fly tandem leader or just by itself? Know you're busy, but would like to know. Best to you and family Brother. Catch alot of fish.
Hi Danny, I personally like to fish two flies rather than three now though I would fish it on the point of the cast although it would also be good in the middle of a three fly cast..Best to you and your family as well... Davie..
@@DavieMcPhail Thanks Davie. You and I have alot incommon. I fish a single, a 2 and 3 fly rigs. It depends on the situaton , how fiish are feeding and the structure of the cover. Heavy cover like brush, sticks 1 to 2 flys. Open water 3 fly rig of which I do very well. Thanks for your input my friend. I always learn from you. Again best to you and family. Danny
Hi Mike, I'm not really although I do watch the odd highlight on the news, most sport in on pay for view as the BBC and the stations that we get are not willing to pay for it so all we get now is the highlights and the odd photo.. All the very best Davie
@@DavieMcPhail I've been watching Extended Highlights here... th-cam.com/users/results?search_query=2019+Rugby+World+Cup It's the best I can do for not having the time or money to watch lots of entire games. Been having fun with that. Looking forward to Scotland vs. Japan at the last of the pool play. Mike

That is a stunning fly. I really love traditional style wets and tie them myself. Thanks. :-)
First try, says don't get too fussy about it, and another master piece is created. Love this guy

You do awesome work. I just hope that some day I will be able to tie half as good as you. Keep up with the fantastic tying.
Terrific looking fly Davie. Well tied and explained as always. Thanks for sharing.

Nice fly Davie 👍
Very nice Davie. I got some of these feathers on Ebay but have still to try them. I got the blue ones as well so will need to give them a go.
