Monster Hunter is one of the games with the most bangers ever, man. It's masterpiece after masterpiece Edit: the second part of the theme with only the percussions feels like a tribal song, sounds ancient... really, really cool!
I've always imagined that the second part was the music to some ceremony that Moga Village was preforming at the same time you were battling Ceadeus, seeking divine/spiritual favor that you would be successful and that they wouldn't have to abandon their homes.
On a serious note as opposed to my silly comment, this is just awesome. I have a very relevant quote for Ceadeus: "Monsters are tragic beings; they are born too tall, too strong, too heavy, they are not evil by choice. That is their tragedy." And Ishiro Honda's right. Ceadeus' horn is too big and he is half blind. He needs to get into that third area of the Underwater Ruins, and that blockage is in his way and making him cause earthquakes. Of course, Moonquake is very aggressive because he's fighting back against you now. Really gives the sense of fighing a true god as opposed to extinction incarnate like Fatalis.
I think the theme is meant to evoke themes of lost and ancient civilisation, Atlantis. You're fighting in a sunken arena against an ancient sea serpent to prevent Moga sinking too. So it must be a mix of varying cultures to make a familiar but unknown sound.
12:30 the vocals, like a few people have commented, is likely in wyverian or an even older language, which adds to the feeling of an ancient deity, given that the fight takes place in the sunken ruins of an ancient civilization, but also takes on the tribal nature of Moga Village.
The vocals are based on the in game monster hunter language, nicknamed Wyvernian. It was used for all vocals until Latin was brought in with World, although I think they still use it for Safi'jiiva
It's really interesting how they created it as well. Essentially, they took a sentence in Japanese, translated it into French, and then translated it back, phonetically, into Japanese. Thusly created a language that is spoken like Japanese, but with French influences.
Very spot-on analysis like always. Ceadeus's theme isn't oppressive precisely because you're fighting it out of necessity with the goal of inflicting as little harm as possible and stopping it from putting Moga in further danger. Both phases show you're up against a titan that means no harm but is causing imminent destruction due to something it only does out of instinct (ex. we fight male Mizutsune in heat if and only if it creeps close to civilization). The feeling of insurmountability in the music, portrayed by the rising brass in phase 1 and the constant percussions in both, shows that us hunters can't really hope to square with it on our own. We're only able to do so thanks to the Shakalaka duo and some kind of divine blessing iirc, and even then, we're only doing so with the hope of repelling it and nothing else. -- Regarding the exotic culture behind Caedeus's phase 2 music, I think you've hit the nail on the head. I'm not entirely sure which lands are within the Oceania region but, within the context of MH3's setting, I am very positive that this is based on the heavily coastal-based and sea-faring civilizations of the multiple cultures spawned from the ancient Austronesians which include the South East Asians, Micronesians, Melanesians, Polynesians, Maoris, Hawaiians, and even the ancient South Americans like the Mayans, Aztecs, and Incas (pls do correct whatever I get wrong here). It is often characterized by the heavy use of both pitched and unpitched percussions, chant-like vocals, and the overall ritualistic feeling.
One of, if not my favourite Elder Dragon theme. I think it's very interesting because it does a different thing compared to basically all of the other Elder Dragon themes. It's not oppressive, it's not intimidating or aggressive. It's just a creature that lives on a scale that is difficult to imagine for us small humans, not anywhere as bothered by us as it is by its overgrown horn that's causing it pain and blinding it. And then you get to phase 2 and it's as if the game said "Well, seems you've been asking for attention? There you go. Let's see if you can handle it." and the fight itself just complements this.
For some people, the Name "Ceadeus." Is like "Sea." And "Deus.", Basically, "God of The Sea." And fun fact; Canonically, you DON'T KILL CEADEUS In the final Cutscene, Ceadeus jumps out of the water with his Overgrown horn broken, after that, he runs away from Moga, Is one of the few Monsters that actually run away instead of being slain in the canon of MH History Because of This, also people believes that This Is the reason for the Subspecies from 3U; Goldbeard Ceadeus, a Ceadeus with Golden skin AND both of his horns having the same size fully grown Great Video as always, now... Let's wait for the Serpent King Dalamadur >:) 🦆
@@TheDevilDucker I was just about to share this! I'm happy that in the actual story we repelled this magestic god instead of killing it. It's theme as well, absolutely fantastic!
Ceadeus definitely had an entirely different vibe from the other MH bosses. What a great breakdown, I feel like I learn something new with each video. Still looking forward to when you get around to Shara Ishvalda’s themes, though each time I feel like another theme pops up that I’d like to hear on top of that. Someone mentioned Vaal Hasak here in the comments and just the other day I noticed it had a harpsichord in it for the first time. It gets drowned out when you’re playing the game but recreationally listening without roars and sound effects, it pops out clear as day. Anyway, keep up the great music breakdowns! I can’t get enough.
Awww yeah. This was just absolutely great game atmosphere and really part of what made me fall in love with MHTri/3U. I believe the official name for this on the OST is "Lunar Abyss" for phase 1 and "Moonquake" for phase 2.
These themes fit so well with the entire game. MHTri and 3U are all about the importance of the Sea, great source of sustain for Moga's people. The Sea is more than a mass of water, it's the place where all life originated and where ultimately everything will end (remember that Miralis is lurking in the ocean too). These themes really give that primal sensation of contact with the sea, with its peacefullness but with its majestic fury too. When it comes to MH battle themes, this is for sure my favourite
This theme really is beautiful. It really gives the impression of a monster of the hidden deep, a strange world you must venture down into to defend your village.
Ceadeus always made me feel like the villain, such a beautiful massive creature, being slain simply because its mere existence is too much for the local village to handle
You’re basically euthanizing the god of the sea because he’s grown so old that he’s in constant pain and destroying everything in a rage. It’s a genuine sad moment in MH.
You know what I love about these videos ? It's that they remind of the amazing older MonHun music that I haven't heard in a long time. It's not that I don't remember the music, but more like I've forgotten how good the music was. MH3U is a treasure trove of great music, but sadly there are many monsters who haven't been in any game since due to the swimming mechanic exclusive to the 3rd gen. Fantastic video as usual and I'd absolutely love to see more older MonHun videos in the future.
I really hope to see Amatsumagatsuchi's theme get a check and as a little bonus, Amatsu's fight ends with a special rendition of the victory theme too.
Yup. Moonquake. I recently played the game and reached that part... My, That first phase! I love it so much! It was also at this time I realized Moga Village and Ceadeus shared their theme. I managed to hear five types of sound in the second phase this time! Your videos really helped me when it comes to listening to music. Gotta love these moments I discover new things in something I always said I loved. "Benevolent", I don't know if the word is accurate, but I definitely like this word choice! I also like how you choose to say "animal" instead of "Elder Dragon"... I really think Ceadeus has that kind of vibe you spoke of.
“Ceadeus is not a bad guy.” I really like this acknowledgement, because it’s something I kind of don’t like about Narwa and Ibushi in Rise. The things we fight are supposed to be monsters; animals. They’re just existing, but sometimes for the sake of survival we have to kill them. It’s an unfortunate part of the circle of life. But in Rise, Narwa and Ibushi outright state that their goal is to destroy things (by speaking through Hinoa/Minoto.) They’re actively malicious in the way a traditional villain would be and it just feels unfitting imo.
I agree, although if I recall they want to destroy so that they may make way for their offspring. But for them it needs outright destruction. While the wyvern and beasts we do fight in MH are simply part of thr ecosystem, their are those that cause malice not just by existing, but their nature itself is outright aggressive. Valstrax actively seeks out monsters in its territory (practically anywhere it can see from the upper atmosphere), Deviljho and outright ecosystem destroyer, and almost all Fatalis which are a sign of doom based on their destructive nature. I think we just dislike Ibushi and Narwa because they vocalize that desire.
Fatalis is even more actively malicious, and is far more like a traditional villain than Narwa and Ibushi. Narwa and Ibushi have the goal of to destroy things for the sake of having offspring. Fatalis just destroys because humans/wyverians are bad in its view
Someone else in this comment section brought up this quote: “Monsters are tragic beings. They are born too strong, too tall, too heavy. They are not evil by choice. That is their tragedy.” This is honestly one of the core ideas behind Monster Hunter, something the game always reminds us of when we fight the bigger boss elder dragons. Amatsu, Ceadeus, Gogmazios, Zorah Magdoros, all are sympathetic. I feel like Rise has kind of disregarded all that theming for the sake of “BIG SUPER COOL EPIC BRO.” I mean, they literally claim Sunbreak’s final boss is the devil.
@@tylermacgregor1320 I actually found out recently that the English translation for Rise gives off the wrong impression. It sounds like in Japanese, Allmother is simply a powerful creature wanting to breed as any animal would want to do. Nothing at all like the English translation that makes them seem morally evil.
@@Maverick52093 None of these monsters actively have malicious intent though. Deviljho hunts ecosystems to extinction because if he doesn’t he’ll starve to death on account of his lightning fast metabolism. Valstrax actually used to be somewhat pacifistic, only attacking for food or self defense (or by accidentally ramming things mid flight, calling back to that quote, a tragic byproduct of his being). That attack on sight thing was only added in Rise, I guess they just thought it’d be “cool.” Even Fatalis, for all the stories about him, there isn’t a whole lot to back them up as hard factual canon, Iceborne even makes it a point that most records of that day have been lost. As far as we know, it could very well be just some animal defending it’s turf like everything else in the game. I kind of like the idea of all that mythos about Fatalis being this hate fuelled harbinger of death ironically being formed out of humanity’s hatred of the creature for driving them out of Schrade. A lot more in theme when you think about it like that.
the second phase gives the feeling that someone angered something almost godlike a Force of Nature not something someone should oppose at any given point something that has inspired ancient people to sing about it
OMG THIS SONG IS SO GOOD! I love the First part The most, tho. I remember when playing MH3U and facing Ceadeus for the very first time... I froze in awe, he is so magestic... Sometimes I listen to this theme while doing my daily rotine... It aways gives me chills of how beautiful and magestic this song is...
I have some theme suggestions to be analyzed if that is okay. Dire Miralis, the Lagiacrus theme (Deserted island battle), Nakarkos, astalos, amatsumagatsuchi,
oh shit, this is already rare to see people react to 3U. Ceadeus is an oldie but a very good monster. White Fatalis had a similar theme song with chanting and old instruments like the drums.
I like how the deep bass in this song makes it sound like you're listening to it underwater. Listened to through loud headphones it makes a very convincing effect that feels like your head is submerged in water (albeit with much less wetness)
I can't get enough of these reactions to Monster Hunter. This one is probably my favorite theme in the entire franchise. I simply have no words to describe the type of emotions it evokes on me. It's nothing but majestic. Ceadeus is the definition of a benevolant and majestic god of the seas :). Overall, MH Tri has a special place in my heart, for being my very first experience to these beautiful games; gameplay experience sure is fantastic, but the entire art of Monster Hunter, from Music to every single detail in design and the monsters, that's what I love the most.
Also something to note: Almost the entirety of Ceadeus's second phase theme is based in a 7/4 time signature. It's far from the weirdest time signature out there, but it's unusual enough to give it a more exotic feeling. It really helps paint it as this incredible, yet strange god-like creature.
Great take, as usual. One of the most beautiful themes in all of Monster Hunter, and you analyzed it quite well. Any chance that you'll ever take a look at the theme(s) of the final boss of Monster Hunter Stories 2, Oltura?
Ah man what a nostalgia trip! MH3 was my first ever MH, and this boss really stands out in the whole series. The underwater combat made us extra-strong, haha
This is one of my favorite themes in MH! I picked up 3U recently and I fell in love with Ceadeus. Such a stunning game and I look forward to more reviews of music from older games!
I counted both the first and second phase as 7/4, it's just the second one is a lot faster. The start of phase 2 with the percussion intro at 6:27 is a bit weird. Best I can come up with is 3/4 + 7/4 repeating until the main lyrics start, then it goes back to the regular 7/4.
I knew this channel would get bigger! Congrats on 10k! Keep up the great work. Also I’d still love to see you cover Vaal Hazak’s theme :3 but keep doing what you’re doing
To me this song is legendary. I'm not a MH player myself, I just helped my friend moving the camera in the game some years ago, but gosh I enjoyed the fight with the Ceadeus, both for the music and the context: an enraged ancient dragon inside forsaken underwater ruins. Too bad initially he wasn't actually causing the earthquakes for harm but just for polishing his horns
5:01 Dude, my man... I would love to see you do a piano cover of this theme. This small part you shared is amazing! I LOVE Cedeus... I remember the first time I fought it in Tri and it was amazing... Since it was also my first time seeing it, my brother and I had our jaws dropped as to how beautiful and powerful it looks... And that theme, AH THAT THEME! So good! Both stages are fantastic!
Just discovered you today with this video, love your work! Love seeing these games get highlighted for just how perfectly they create specific moods and situations for each monster. They really tell a story with the music
Dayum that's the second time you cover the themes I asked for that's sick. Thanks a lot again for giving us the "semi-professional" analyse of those beautiful songs and help us understand why we feel that way! If I had to request something else it might be the Zinogre theme, it's not an ancient dragon and it's not that long but man we know we all love it, it's so out of the common Monster Hunter theme with the electric guitar kicking in (and the fact that we got a fking gitar as a Hunting Horn from this monster lmao). Anyway can't wait to see your next vid have a great day!
Dude, I recorded a video today and I ALMOST went for Zinogre's theme but ended up switching to another one on the last minute haha. Don't worry though, Zinogre will still show up here on the channel soon enough!
I’m really happy he took a look at Ceadeus, Ceadeus’ theme goes really hard and it is so peaceful yet so intense. His theme really tried to display that he is close to a deity, and it worked to an extent, heh
I really wish he managed to get to everlasting worlds that song is the peak of Ceadeus but I love these two moon quake quickly became one of my favourite songs ever.
If I had to put it into words, the theme for the second phase seems to be "Ancient Majesty". It doesn't feel to me like the theme is coming from Ceadeus. It feels more ritualistic, like I'm about to see some tribe throw a virgin into a volcano. Except here it feels more like a forgotten song to the 'god of the sea' Ceadeus.
It took me ages, but I think this song, the second phase part at least, is in 7/4. It's very strange, especially since the melody is so scattered. It's perfect for a fight that takes place entirely underwater, where you're at the mercy of this massive whale dragon.
From all the years of playing MH since Tri and actually in all of gaming, this song is one of the most epic, grandious, gorgeous and thrilling songs I have ever heard. Every half year or so I come back to listen to it. The first time I had this fight and this song my whole body was tense with excitement and goosebumps all over.
Thank you for all the Mh music vids. I might be biased as it's probably my favorite franchise but it's a shame how overlooked the music can be. Also i hope you don't mind me saying that but i genuinely love your accent lol
I can't wait to see you cover the classic Brachydios theme from MH3U! It sounds so different to the raging brachydios theme that i'm pretty sure it deserves it's own reaction!
This is a definite favorite for me and my friend growing up. I got him into Monster Hunter with Tri after I saw Princeboo21 play it and MH1 back in early TH-cam days. It's all been history from there. We played 3 ultimate when it came out, 4 ultimate, Generations and Gen Ultimate (granted, those ones are his least favorite), and I kinda skipped out on world since I didn't have an xbox. Now we're playing Rise whenever we get the chance, and it's been a blast ever since we first started when we didn't even know how skills worked at first lol
As someone who was introduced to Monster Hunter with 3 ultimate back in high school, I was in awe when I fought this thing for the first time. I truly felt like a small ant facing a massive whale with a beard, and little did I know it would get more epic and terrifying in the second phase. I fell in love with the theme of the second phase theme due to how pumped I got when the starting vocals hit my ears, which also brought tears to my eyes due to how epic it sounded. Monster Hunter will always be my top favorite franchise? And Ceadeus will always be my number 1 Elder Dragon. Thanks for bringing back awesome memories with this analysis!
Replayed 3U recently after not playing it for several years (my first MH game) and the Ceadeus theme is still as magical as I remember. MH3U's music has a very special place in my heart. You should do Dire Miralis' theme next! :)
What a lovely reaction vid! To add to my other suggestion (the clasic Brachydios theme) , i think doing a proper reaction vid to Dagan - Into Free would be a quite cool idea, to have your full thoughts on it , apart from the little tidbit you did in the stream the other day. Keep up the good work!
Dude, I JUST bought Dragon's Dogma on the black friday Switch e-shop sale. I won't have time to play it for now but I booted it up briefly just to see what it looks like and I loved it. I went a little bit beyond that first lion boss battle.

Monster Hunter music truly has to be some of my most enjoyed music in all of gaming! I along with other classic themes, I would love to watch an analysis of Dire Miralis as I started with Monster Hunter in 3 ultimate!
This is amazing, I have never played much of tri (only the very beginning before my dad traded both games for something else) but Ceadeus' theme is just so beautiful and your analyzation of various themes from monster hunter series just makes them all the more majestic and powerful, I want to hear you analyze themes from monsters like Vaal Hazak, Gogmazios, and Nakarkos. Keep up the good work
some people say that the best way to make a boss look imposing is having lyrics in Latin or a language the sounds ancient monster hunter gone the extra mile and created its own language and then made a boss that has its theme sung in this language
What's sad about this particular Elder is that the danger it represents to Moga Village is entirely accidental. Half-blinded by it's own overgrown horn, it keeps bumping into the walls of the Island's underwater cave system, causing damage to the foundations which would result in the place sinking beneath the waves. Even worse, it's heavily implied that this is only a juvenile Ceadeus, which means that it dashing into Moga's caves isn't just because it's horn is overgrown, but also to hide from the only thing in the ocean that can actually threaten a young Ceadeus, the Elder Dragon Nakarkos.
The feeling / or how i understand this theme was by referencing the encounter of the forest god from Princess Mononoke. Your music react is always in-depth gj. @Davi Vasc
Ohh this gives me an idea. Maybe talk how video game music can evolve for the same track/song/melody through different games, what is the motive behind it and show good and/or bad examples
First, huge congrats on hitting 10k subs!! Great video as always. This piece is one of my favorite elder dragon themes. I like the tones of gamelan instruments. I feel the sublime beauty of nature and love graceful and mysterious vibes in this theme. It feels like resonate beyond eternal time. So beautiful. Thank you for this video, Davi!
Awesome video as always, man this theme is by far my favorite and Ceadeus is my favorite elder dragon too,so peaceful yet power full, he is part of the few elder dragons that can rivalise with black dragon such as fatalis and that theme makes you understand why,is a true god of the sea. Please do a cover of Moonquake it would be so great !
this theme is core to my heart and soul and my very way of Monster Hunter. Also the reason that his theme is more benevolent is that he's there not to fight, but because he's in pain. The whole reason for Ceadeus going to the cave is because he's trying to break his horns that have grown too big, only defending himself when the hunter attacks. Also the name of that song is called Ode To Life.
I eagrly await Lagiacrus' theme to get coverage especially with your history of 3 ultimate and him being the main face of Tri and gen 3, I'm a bit surprised he doesn't already have a video done yet
Wait, Lagi doesn't have a theme though, has he? His theme is just the Deserted Island locale theme, if I remember correctly. Regardless, that would still be cool for a video. I love that theme.
@@DaviVasc It's still considered his theme officially as the official OST tracks for the games and the MH Orchestras call it "Tremble of the Land and Sea- Lagiacrus". He just shares it with the other monsters of the area which is a direct relation/connection to Rathalos sharing his theme with the Forest and Hills/Verdant Hills as Lagiacrus and Rathalos are considered direct rivals to each other with them having the parallels to one another even down to the theme songs. Another way to look at it is being the main Flagship Monsters of the series, they have such an important and imposing presence that their themes overtake those areas entirely because it's THEIR main territory and area to the point that other monsters aren't "allowed" by them to have their own themes so Lagi and Rathalos rule over the area with their themes. Essentially they're still there in spirit even when you're not physically hunting them because they have that much of an impact on those areas even more than other Flagships would. Although Zinogre seems to be his indirect new rival as Lagiacrus has his theme paired up with Zinogre's usually in the orchestras among the other relationships they have.

Regarding the exotic culture behind Caedeus's phase 2 music, I think you've hit the nail on the head.
I always thought tri had some of the most memorable tracks in the series.
Yes, tri soundtrack is amazing
Absolutely
For some people, the Name "Ceadeus." Is like "Sea." And "Deus.", Basically, "God of The Sea."
And fun fact; Canonically, you DON'T KILL CEADEUS
In the final Cutscene, Ceadeus jumps out of the water with his Overgrown horn broken, after that, he runs away from Moga, Is one of the few Monsters that actually run away instead of being slain in the canon of MH History
Because of This, also people believes that This Is the reason for the Subspecies from 3U; Goldbeard Ceadeus, a Ceadeus with Golden skin AND both of his horns having the same size fully grown
Great Video as always, now... Let's wait for the Serpent King Dalamadur >:) 🦆
ALSO, the Ceadeus second Theme has the same vocals from the Theme of This game called "Everlasting Words.", The final story cutscene's OST
@@TheDevilDucker I was just about to share this! I'm happy that in the actual story we repelled this magestic god instead of killing it. It's theme as well, absolutely fantastic!
Caedus means whale in latin, caedeus literally means whale god
Yeah I heard if you kill him accidentally in the first Quest you even fail.
Not sure if thats true, but its certainly interesting.
Absolutely! You break his horn (which is good for him) and repel him. The most wholesome final boss in MH.
Thanks man! Both Shara and Vaal will be done soon!
Actually you didn't slay Ceadeus, in the final Cutscene Ceadeus jumps out of the water with his horn broken, after that he runs away from Moga
@@TheDevilDucker Oh! I almost forgot about that. I need to play 3 again
I feel better now
You’re basically euthanizing the god of the sea because he’s grown so old that he’s in constant pain and destroying everything in a rage. It’s a genuine sad moment in MH.
@@Dreigonix isn’t the Goldbeard ceadeus the grown up variant?
I think the best way to describe ceadeus's themes and fight is like you're fighting the very ocean itself
Honestly one of my favorite songs in all of Monster Hunter. My first game in the series and this was one of my first Elder Dragons I have fought
Wait, if this guy ever gets a chance, he needs to listen to the Crimson Fatalis theme from Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate
Well, it's G rank Crimson Fatalis
seconded. G-Rank crimson fata is amazing as would be white G-rank fata.
I'm gonna cover some music from MH4U soon. Crimson Fatalis is a good candidate!
@@DaviVasc please do the white fatalis theme too, the music about ancestral being come back to demand retribution to humanity sins against nature
Never did I think a video game about killing monsters would have such epic music for being an underwater barber
Lots of people are suggesting it. I'll do it for sure!
I really hope to see Amatsumagatsuchi's theme get a check and as a little bonus, Amatsu's fight ends with a special rendition of the victory theme too.
Lots of people are suggesting Amatsu's theme. Frontier themes will get some rep here on the channel too!
Yup.
Moonquake.
I recently played the game and reached that part...
My,
That first phase!
His second phase will always be one of my favourite theme, the atmosfere is so amazing in this battle I always get chills
Ceadeus of all monsters!! A surprise to be sure but a welcome one.
It just amaze me, how much effort the composers put in the themes and my brain 10+ years ago never realized it.
Yep. Game composers care a lot.
“Ceadeus is not a bad guy.”
I really like this acknowledgement, because it’s something I kind of don’t like about Narwa and Ibushi in Rise.
Dire Miralis, the Lagiacrus theme (Deserted island battle), Nakarkos, astalos, amatsumagatsuchi,
Thank you for the suggestions!
@@DaviVasc Thanks for teaching me more about music!
oh shit, this is already rare to see people react to 3U.
I do intend to do some videos on Monster Hunter Stories 2 music
It's really great that capcom manage to make a benevolent theme for a rather pacifist monster. I hope you can do shara's theme next.
I'll do Shara soon!
I used to play this battle again and again just to hear this theme, it was (and still is) so magnificent
Thanks man. There will be more vids on older MH music for sure!
Gamelan music with origins in Indonesia. Love it so far. It fits MH games perfectly.
There are so many Monster Hunter songs like this one that I cant listen to without being welled up with emotion, this song is so powerful.
Top 10 theme song! Congrats Ceadeus!!
Getting here 2yrs too late but this was great! I cannot figure the time signature of the second part!
Thanks Jose! I'll do Vaal Soon!
All of Tri's music was great. I love the tribal-like themes in it.
Dire Miralis has to be next! You'll love it!
I'll do Dire Miralis for sure!
I really like seeing people talk about their memories of the gaming experience. Game music brighten up their wonderful moments at that time.
Aww I miss Ceadeus! He was the first elder dragon I fought! haha! and both of his themes are awesome!
I don't think I can name a culture, but Ceadeus is 'moon in the water.' That can explain the beautiful vocals
I am religious to the Moon and Ocean, I love that they made a boss reminiscent of the two.
I think the power of that tense/happy chord lends to it being something of a hymn. Celebrating and honoring the power of this majestic sea god
I love how you analyze the music :) I keep learning new things!
That makes me happy!
Just discovered you today with this video, love your work! Love seeing these games get highlighted for just how perfectly they create specific moods and situations for each monster. They really tell a story with the music
This is literally my favorite game theme of all time
It's up there for me too.
Oooh I love this one! Definitely sharing rank one of my favourite monster themes with White Fatalis' theme
"Rock my Ceadeus."
But seriously, glad you covered my favorite Monster Hunter tune ever. It's beastly.
This is my favorite Monster in the series, thank you for covering its this
It's one of my favorites as well. Glad you like the video!
Amazing, I totally forgot how amazing that theme back then was. Thanks for reminding me!
My pleasure!
In the first phase, they really set the mood of "It's sad, but we have to do it." I always enjoy these videos, and I look forward to more.
Makes me happy that you look forward to these videos, man. Thanks!
@@DaviVasc no way lmao
Welp I wait for the next then 👍
I’m really happy he took a look at Ceadeus, Ceadeus’ theme goes really hard and it is so peaceful yet so intense. His theme really tried to display that he is close to a deity, and it worked to an extent, heh
I really wish he managed to get to everlasting worlds that song is the peak of Ceadeus but I love these two moon quake quickly became one of my favourite songs ever.
just opened youtube and you upload, nice
Haha, nice
Thank you for reviewing this song! It's one of my fave Elder Dragon song in MH!
Thank you for watching, my friend
Thanks for finally explaining why second phase has always sounded "greek" to me, lol. I think they wanted to create a link to the myth of Atlantis.
Dude, I think you're on to something here. The second phase area even has human made structures, like a long lost civilization.
That is a great interpretation. It does have a tribal, ritualistic feel to it.
It took me ages, but I think this song, the second phase part at least, is in 7/4. It's very strange, especially since the melody is so scattered. It's perfect for a fight that takes place entirely underwater, where you're at the mercy of this massive whale dragon.
Oh, that is true! I hadn't noticed the 7/4 time at all. It sounds like a regular 4/4 if you don't pay too much attention
One of my favorite monsters of all time and I have always loved the theme. Great breakdown as always.
Thanks Ray
From all the years of playing MH since Tri and actually in all of gaming, this song is one of the most epic, grandious, gorgeous and thrilling songs I have ever heard. Every half year or so I come back to listen to it. The first time I had this fight and this song my whole body was tense with excitement and goosebumps all over.
Thank you for all the Mh music vids. I might be biased as it's probably my favorite franchise but it's a shame how overlooked the music can be. Also i hope you don't mind me saying that but i genuinely love your accent lol
Haha, thanks :D
I really recommend people listen to the live recording. The transition between Lunar Abyss and Moonquake gives me chills every time.
Ooooh, I was waiting for this! Was wondering when you'd get to the amazingness of Moonquake. Too me, the orchestrated version is beyond amazing.
@@DaviVasc Hell yeaaaah! Welcome to the club!

Ceadeus my big boi! You covered his tracks. This was awesome!
Wyverian the language you hear in the game, that was an option in World, the in game culture, like the Seeker in World. The guys that run the guild and make sure to avoid another war against thr dragons
I always have Wyverian languare on both in World and in Rise.
Keep up the good work
Thank you my friend. Nakarkos and Vaal have been suggested a lot so I'll probably cover them soon.
some people say that the best way to make a boss look imposing is having lyrics in Latin or a language the sounds ancient
monster hunter gone the extra mile and created its own language and then made a boss that has its theme sung in this language
The vocals in this track are awesome!
The reason I like so much 3 and Rise music is because both of them have exotic, beautiful vocals
ohhhh and here it is! thank you for making a reaction on this song.
Thank you for watching, Leylin :)
The feeling / or how i understand this theme was by referencing the encounter of the forest god from Princess Mononoke. Your music react is always in-depth gj. @Davi Vasc
Thank you Ryo!
Been one of my favourite songs since tri came out
Ohh this gives me an idea. Maybe talk how video game music can evolve for the same track/song/melody through different games, what is the motive behind it and show good and/or bad examples
As monster hunter tri being my first taste of monster hunter, ceadeus holds a special place in my heart ❤
Same ❤
First, huge congrats on hitting 10k subs!!
Thank you so much, Aya! You described how I feel about this theme perfectly.
This is hitting hard after all this years
this theme is core to my heart and soul and my very way of Monster Hunter. Also the reason that his theme is more benevolent is that he's there not to fight, but because he's in pain. The whole reason for Ceadeus going to the cave is because he's trying to break his horns that have grown too big, only defending himself when the hunter attacks. Also the name of that song is called Ode To Life.
to think that we wont ever fight him unless if they bring back water combat is plain sad ... such a nice design and good ost ...
They really need to bring water combat back
I have hope for underwater in MH6
Yesss, Ive been waiting for ya to see this
I eagrly await Lagiacrus' theme to get coverage especially with your history of 3 ultimate and him being the main face of Tri and gen 3, I'm a bit surprised he doesn't already have a video done yet
Really cool to hear (I think) 7/4, it makes the whole song sound even more mysterious, especially since it's not all that obvious.
Another nice reaction of a great song, love your content :)
