Usually, it takes me a long time to evaluate what “went wrong” in a race because I don’t have any personal goals besides staying on the track, going faster and not spinning out. So I’m never quite sure how to evaluate my races, but to be fair most of them end up messy.
I think it helps to take it incident by incident. There's usually a simple mistake made or sometimes it's simply bad lack and you were in the wrong place at the wrong time.
I think it was just something about road Atlanta last week that had people making lots of mistakes. I've had WAY cleaner racing this week at snetterton and even won two races in a row, never thought I'd manage that!
For 2. You had the space cause its a complex of corners and you were properly alongside to start them. It's common knowledge when taking a complex of esses, especially two 90's like Road Atlanta and some others, The car on the inside has the advantage on the first and disadvantage on the next. Swapping as the amount of turns in the esses are. He did not clear you completely on the first turn so he doesn't get the space on the second turn unless you get completely clear. If he was in your spot he would want you to leave space on the inside for him. But a lot of people on iRacing don't race you like it's anything but their track. Just a racing incident.
I think you didn't do so bad, it's mostly just bad luck with how iRacing rates "incidents". I mean in real life, a micro-nudge here and there wouldn't be penalized. And then adding to that many of these incidents weren't caused by you, but either by the others around you, or just as racing incidents.. I think in hypothetical real life judgment, in iRacing incident points scale, you'd have gotten like 5 or 6 total. Like, that's what I think would intuitively feel like a fair score for your race, at least to me.
Thanks, Ricky. Yeah, the way iRacing doles out points regardless of who is actually at fault can be quite frustrating at points. Incident 3, in particular, was complete BS.
You certainly could, and would! But the silver lining is that it's a learning opportunity, and it makes the good races feel all the more rewarding as a result

"bad driving" pretty good in my book lol
Haha, while I struggle to look at a DNF in a positive light, hell, I'll take the compliment!
It's pretty hard to predict what your opponents are gonna do considering they keep making mistakes 24/7.

I guess you could say that was a fail race
