Virtual credit cards are the answer to subscriptions. Subscribe and then cancel the card immediately. If you want to sign up again after your month simply create another card and repeat.

One thing I noticed about iRacing is the avg person feels so much WORSE than in any other game.

The blinking issue is definitely something australians must face more. I don't see it more often than maybe every 10th race so from my pov it would be a waste of recources to adress this issue further and I'm not even sure if it is entirely fixable tbh.

Everyone who wants to hate on iRacing can stick to the 3 concurrent online users on 3rd party systems on other sims. Meanwhile i will take the 10 plus splits on iRacing. It is the best experience. It costs the most. A lambo is better than a mustang and It costs more because of that fact. I am not tied to iRacing and I have 2 iRacing accounts. 1 of which has 95% of Road content. But every other company has massively failed at creating a sim that is better for anything other than AI driving. I have ACC, AC, rFactor2, RaceRoom, Automobilsta 2, Le mans ultimate. All current sims. None of them offer anything close to iRacing online racing. That is what we want and other companies fail. So iRacing it is

I'm a college student and the currency of subscription base just to play iRacing is painful for me, there is more than just the subscription on iRacing, you also have to buy each of the cars and tracks there. And luckily for me there is Assetto Corsa Competizione, which has the best GTWC that has GT2, GT3 and GT4 cars and best physics to date for these cars. Probably once I finished my college and have a job, I might go try iRacing.

As someone who is slowly getting into the hobby, I'm glad to have found this video. I definitely plan to get a wheel at some point but I currently feel comfortable using a controller. I've been playing NASCAR Heat Ultimate Edition, technically an arcade racing game, but it scratches that itch perfectly. I'm just glad I'm not the only one who is pretty content with a regular controller

I'd have no problems with iRacing if the quality of the product matched the price. The game looks dated, sounds dated and it has been shown many times now how some aspects of its car physics are flawed and unrealistic. Frankly, it is shameful that the game has fallen behind in terms of realism and overall quality, especially considering it is both the most popular and most expensive racing sim. They need to get their shit together.

I hate to say it buy iRacing is just bad. As mujch as it is a good simulator the cost is just unworth it's gain. Spending anywhere from 20-150$ just to really get access to a game that is supposed to be like racing is a total just ripoff. It isn't worth what you can get in other games. I think the problem is that is a "racing sim" the problem roots from money itself. None of my other hobbies including my car have a yearly/monthly paywall that keeps me from doing it. Neither does karting as well. I think while it is a great game the paywall because it's association with racing (trackmania does this as well) is an excuse to make even more money.

The short answer to the title question is: Yes. I think the issue with iRacing is the malicious pricing. If it were a really good game then people would be more open to the idea of paying a subscription. They still do it because it's the only option for a rule-driven multiplayer sim racing experience, but if it wasn't for multiplayer, there are infinitely better options available. I think Evo will most likely kill off iRacing as a whole if they have a really solid multiplayer system with a good cover of motorsports in place, but only time will tell on that front. They didn't offer the best multiplayer service with Competizione that's for damn sure, so maybe they've learned from their mistakes there and improved upon it? The long answer to the title question is: It depends on what you want to do in sim racing. If you prefer a more solo experience and a more realistic experience, go play ACC or AC1/Evo, if you favor the multiplayer experience, go play iRacing and pay a shit load more than what the game is ever going to be worth.

I’m an avid sim racer on PC and console. I refuse to play iRacing as I CANNOT STAND subscription based games. You end up spending thousands of pounds on something that should cost about £50. Subscriptions services only benefit the publishers, it’s a huge rip off for the end user.

I always crawl back to Iracing once in a blue moon but after a month or so it’s just really hard to stay when everything has a ridiculous price tag. Like sure I get it these cars and tracks are very high quality but why can’t we have bundles, or sales, the only sales they get are holiday memberships deals that is mostly for new players. Either you pay for the membership or you pay for the cars

Driving a Mustang on the rain requires steel balls my guy, but you did it anyway and i loved the result. I like your lines, your driving style matches the car, track and weather condition, and you seem to be pushing the car to its absolute limits. If i had Iracing i'd try to beat this time (would probably fail miserably because i don't have a wheel).

Not a bad summary. Highlights it's shortcomings quite well. The cost thing is definitely a turn off for some. However when you're 2-6K deep in a rig and PC setup, the yearly cost really becomes incidental as you're starting to compete with getting a car to a track and actually doing real racing. Which believe me is a lot more expensive. So yeah it's a weird middle ground between hyper sweaty wannabe track guys, actual track guys and a bunch of people not quite sure if they want to race or be Sunday drivers. One thing is sure though, none of the other sims out there actually provide consistent and high quality online racing against some of the best racers in the world, despite the odd ping error etc...

I’m a 13 year vet going into my 14th. I’ve been on this service since I was 13. I’ve been on the highs and lows of Iracing. Last year I was a 7000 oval Irating so being in a big SOF lobby with the people who take this as their day jobs, it’s not all that great. I would say it’s expensive. It use to be way better back in the day but the downfall of Iracing to me is how accessible it is now. Yes that sounds weird but the staff are ignorant more than ever now. They work on adding content instead of fixing and perfecting what needs to be fixed. In my opinion they have gone backwards when it comes to customer service and important things like tire model and aero model. When most real life drivers come on and say it’s bad then you should do something about it but they don’t. Casually speaking casual races are fun. If you really want to do this I’d suggest taking a loan out( just kidding) but find a league or enjoy hosted races but people in officials are rude and sweats. That’s my opinion for being here so long.

AMS2 is way better and way underappreciated in the sim space.

the big thing as far pricing go, is the actual content rather than the actual content. imo they should be releasing new build stuff as a dlc at a fair price instead if individual items

I feel exactly the same on the FFB with my CSL DD However for me it was more or less a dealbreaker since i couldnt get irffb working and ended up just going back to ACC Plus the sim in general just kinda felt really outdated and annoying to use for me No radar is also bad for me since im on the cheaper end of the sim racing spectrum using only 1 monitor and a computer that i use for everything else including sim racing While powerful on its own running a racing game in VR with an acceptable resolution pushes my 3080 and i really cant afford anything better like a 4080 let alone a dedicated sim rig So my single monitor setup is basically the best im gonna have for now with my wheel on a folding stand i just place in front of the desk But id love to try it again if the game in general gets updated and maybe more user friendly for new/less experienced drivers

Raceroom Racing Experience is a great alternative to iRacing, plus it's way cheaper and very active online! Tbh though, this video was great and very unbias, and you may have convinced me to jump back into iRacing :)
