[Plot introduction]
In the sixth year of Qianlong's reign, a young girl Wei Yingluo entered the Forbidden City as a palace girl/lady-in-waiting in order to seek the truth of her elder sister's death. After investigation, she found that the Duke "Absurd", personal name Hongzhou had something to do with her sister's death, and she was determined to seek justice. The Fuca Empress who was virtuous - worried that Yingluo would go astray, strived to give her comfort and help. Under the careful guidance of the Empress, Wei Yingluo gradually grew into an honest and courteous palace lady, putting aside resentment and working hard in her life.
The unfortunate death of the Fuca Empress caused a series of misunderstandings between Yingluo and the Qianlong Emperor, but eventually they went from being mutually hostile to being supportive of each other. With her courage, an astute and flexible mind, as well as a generous heart, Yingluo resolved the disputes in the court many a time, and finally arose to be the Noble Consort Ling who contributed to prosperity during the Qianlong period.
It was not until before Yingluo's death that she told the Qianlong Emperor about the Fuca Empress's last wish before passing which was for her to assist HongLi (the Qianlong Emperor's personal name) in his reign and to be a bright monarch, and only till then the Qianlong Emperor came to appreciate Empress Fuca's effort.
In the 60th year of Qianlong's reign, the Qianlong Emperor declared that the son of Yingluo, the Jiaqing Emperor, personal name Yongyan, as the Crown Prince, and at the same time, promoted the mother, now the Imperial Noble Consort Ling as the Xiaoyichun Empress. Yingluo kept her promise to the Fuca Emperess and finally realised her commitment with her own life.

刚看完如懿传实在受不了赶紧又来看延禧攻略，虽然我不太喜欢吴谨言，但这部剧美很多，灯扽光不会那么暗沉让人郁闷，皇帝实在好太多，看见傅察皇后也是心里超级舒服，一个个妃嫔的演员也是看着喜欢，哪怕是反派。可能是整部剧来看的话，觉得很美，所以更喜欢吧

@@AWS_wannabe She was such a beautiful person, just as Ruyi was. When you get to the end, watch the next one. Only on netflix. Yanxi Palace Princess Adventures. It's about Wei Yinglou's daughter. It's a fab story as usual. Only 6 episodes but wow, what a storyline. That's one thing with these Chinese dramas, you never know what's gonna happen next.
i loved gao's villainousness. it made me want to buy some claws and roll my eyes at everything.
I just want to say that people should watch their wording when asking for English subs. It doesn’t help to show your frustration and rude words to these volunteers who are translating this drama for free just for you freeloaders. It takes time, okay? Especially for these historical dramas that use half-ancient dialogue, proverbs, idioms, historical references, and even words that don’t have an exact translation to another language. I know the feeling of waiting for something you want so badly, but I get pissed off reading your rude comments even though I am not doing the subs. I can just imagine how the people doing the subbing feels.
I totally agree with your point.. I don't speak any Asian language but I watch so many of them and I get sad when they are not translated but I could never be rude with these kind people that put in so much work trying to translate them 💕

Greetings from Norway. I have just seen the whole series. It is just excellent. One of the best series I have seen. I am thankful for the English subtitles through all episodes. The story is so well written. The cast is superb. These actresses and actors I hope to see again. I am so glad the lead roles are not only pretty and handsome but also can show so many shades. Nothing feels fake. You belive in all the emotions they portray. The costumes, hair, makeup, the props, every detail in all the surroundings is so well made. The music set the stage. The quality of this series is so high. I was hooked and could not stop watching. All feelings are touched. I feel this series was made with such integrity. It is strange to feel after 70 episodes that I want more. You get to know the characters so deeply and feel for them. You also want to know how their children progress. Thank you for this gift.
I loved this series so much that I am watching it for the second time! I am in New Zealand. The costumes are so beautiful, especially the hair ornaments.

I've watched this several times, and I really like how they emphasize the female characters in the beginning. Yinglou of course is the main character so she is in the main opening scene, and immediately showcases her adaptability, intelligence and quick thinking. When Empress Fucha appears there's a elegant and gentle atmosphere that reflects the character. And finally Noble Consort Gao appears being carried by servants and her hair decked out in expensive jewelry with a domineering air about her. Each of these 3 women are major players with different personalities which are hinted at just from their intros.
In contrast even though he's a prominent character Emperor Qianlong's character intro isn't really as telling as the other 3. Though the emperor is in the entire show and of course plays an important role, he really doesn't make very many direct decisions that intentionally influence our female main characters. I really like this show because it showcases a variety of women who want, fear and need different things and act accordingly. Though the end goal is often to get the emperor's attention/affection, the methods they use to get there are unique to each character and don't often directly involve him.

For those that complain about subtitles, just learn chinese damn. I, myself discovered Chinese drama recently and after 2 dramas, I decided that I really wanted to learn mandarin because travel around the world is also my dream. I only started learning 3 weeks ago and I find that I have improved a lot! If they can learn English, French with the writing, we can learn any asian language with their characters

I plan to do the same thing. Learning to speak and understand spoken Chinese easy; on the other hand, reading and writing is a different story. Right now I only know the characters for yi, er, san because they're literally just straight horizontal strokes that indicate the numbers 1, 2, 3.

All the actors and actresses are so amazing, the energy they show is so powerful. The first time I watch one of the noble girls escorted out I got goosebumps. When the emperor spoke I was utterly whipped for his voice.

Yikes! Choosing to live in the palace comes with SO many lethal traps. What a life to choose, when at ANY GIVEN MOMENT you could lose that life for the most trivial of reasons! I know it was considered an honor, but wow, what a cost to pay for it!

This is interesting since I've just watch ruyi royal love, using same historical figures but each depicted differently.
This is like my 100th time rewatching this series. It never gets old, and still keeps you on the edge of your seats! Love this drama! :)

Very entertaining, beautiful costumes, excellent acting, good-looking actors and actresses, gut wrenching and quite a tear-jerker. It will keep you captivated but is a little incredulous and unrealistic at times. This poor emperor has always got his ancestry questioned. Story makers always like to make sure that one of the most outstanding emperors of the Qing dynasty has Han blood. :) Plot is interesting but the themes of palace rivalry and questionable emperor's blood line is a little stale.
This is wonderful but so incredibly frustrating to see additional episodes that have not yet been subtitled but are shown to exist! argh
I've been watching clips and only decide to start watching from the beginning. And it made me realize a little this was such a big foreshadowing moment at around 30 minutes or somewhere around this time
此剧的确是难得的好剧，干净利落，快刀斩乱麻，老套的好人不再是忍气吞声被坏人羞辱迫害而不得翻身，而是拨乱反正力排众议用正义的力量惩奸除恶大快人心，看的令人荡气回肠连连称赞。我觉得这部剧呼应了最近在中国大陆最为热门最为关注的宝马车主挥刀追砍自行车车主而刀落反被杀事件，最终法院判处自行车车主正当防卫无罪释放的事件，包括前面的 人民的名义电视剧的热播，这个潮流也是预示着中国大陆的不断进步和人心所向，不再是好人被人欺负，坏人逍遥法外，而是正义得到越来越多的伸张，人民得到了法律的保护，这是一个好的势头，希望未来中国的正气法制等等越来越好

Ruyi and yanxi palace are actually the same story but in different perspectives . The story of yanxi palace is about consort Lings (wei yanwan in ruyi/Wei yinglou in yanxi) perspectives.
I watched this so much that I can understand them without the subtitles. I had on my wireless headphones, then walked away and I could picture the scene and the words.
I surely recommend this captivating drama to anyone. Thank you.
