Many moons ago I used to make small mods for Skyrim mainly for myself and a couple of mates to use. My most ambitious 'mod' was a small island village accessed by boat from one of the cities [I forget which]. The mod had a short quest with some side questing and involved lighting a 'lighthouse' watch-fire. I'll leave the rest to your imagination - the files are long-lost to me. It's been so long since I even attempted a 'mod' that I wanted to wait for a while after the SFCK was released in hope that someone would make some at least half good tutorial videos so as I could get a good refresher course so to put it. It looks like I'm going to be having the honour of your tuition! Thanks for the well-made, clear videos to date; keep up the good works.
Oooooo yes! Second I realized it dropped I hoped you would make videos. Literally taught me to mod YEARS ago with Skyrim. Hope to see other tutorials come out!
Nicely done - as always. I've been making mods for Beth games since it became possible with Morrowind. Your CK tutorials have always been standouts. Thank you for helping so many folks get into making mods.
Here we go, thank God. Ur series taught me to mod Skyrim years ago. I spent hours yesterday trying to figure out all the new stuff in the SFCK, very happy to just wait for your tutorials. I don't have the mental capacity to intuit this stuff lmao
I've been wanting to start scripting stories but was too intimidated by thought. These videos have encouraged me to just dive in and see what happens. You're doing good work here, Sir.
I watched many of your tutorial videos for Fallout CK, they're really good, clear explanations, step by step. They helped me a lot but only to a certain point, as I don't have Fallout but Starfield. Many features are a bit different. I am now hoping you'll make more tutorial videos for Starfield CK. If I may ask, specially about custom textures, how to import them into the game and apply to objects. I'm trying to do that for a while without success. Who knows... maybe I'm lucky ☺
I would like to see a conceptual review of the file types, structures, and how they all work together. It is so hard to understand where to find what you think you need in the workspace without a conceptual framework.
Thanks for starting some tutorial videos! I'm new to modding, so I'm having a bit of an issue getting started with Creation Kit. If you are planning on making any more tutorial videos, are you able to include a section about how to swap a texture for a custom one that's been created (not swapping for one already in the game)? Or if you have any docs you could link to for this, I'd really appreciate it 😄🙏
Thx for making videos about this. For me to use the Creator Kit, do I have to install the game first on my computer? If yes, do I have to do it with steam or can I do it with the xbox account where I already own it? Thx 😊
Getting ahead of your video a bit. I want to set the items in the zip file up now. Do these folders also go under the data folder? Materials and Particles.
Thanks, very helpful. was wondering where they hid the scripts. looking at the files, I usually let Vortex install the zip files, but, looks like vortex will put the scripts files in the scripts folder and not the proper data\scripts\source folder. (liked using vortex to install so if there is a update it was easier to uninstall and update.) Also, was wondering, should a copy of the psc scripts also be put in the data\source folder besides the data\scripts\source folder?
According to CreationKit.ini, it's looking at Data\Scripts\Source by default. I don't use Vortex so I'm not sure how it handles files differently to MO2.
EDIT. I'm assuming yes. When looking at the other scripts Like the dlc folder which is holding the Vulture dlc quest in it and other items On my system, there is a folder called scripts already and seems to be related to nexus script and vortex. Would these scripts get extracted to this folder? I'm assuming yes due to vortex and nexus mods using it? And by the way, I do want to fix some issues original mod maker did not fix for the newest starfield that is causing issues with location and moving cells are now showing shifted wall placement that is causing floor and wall separation.
When installing the creation kit make sure to pick same drive the game is installed on. I tried to put it on my second drive and the creation kit wouldn't open.
Glad to see your doing starfield stuff. I got into modding because of your skyrim scripting vids. Is the skyrim/fo4 creation kit wiki/ docs still mostly relevant to this CK? and is there any docs for starfields CK?
We will need Bethesda to update the wiki for Starfield as there will be differences, especially when it comes to Papyrus. There's a lot of new stuff to get used to.
@@DJLegends I recommend taking a look at Elianora's video for some of the new features since FO4. There are differences that will matter we will want the wiki for.
Awesome! anything on how I can edit an Armor texture to get my channel logo on it and all. I've never modded before to even have a clue lol ! but I remember you from Skyrim!
There seems to be some issue if you have Starfield Gamepass PC edition, CK wont open, apparently it needs to be installed directly into the Starfield folder? Any ideas?
Considering how many problems the Skyrim CK has, is it possible to create mods for Skyrim using this CK? I'm sure it isn't as simple as choosing Skyrim.esm as your master file, but it would be nice if at least some content was backwards compatible.
They...use different architextures, features, mechanics, meshes, textures, techniques and...a lot of other aspects are different. You can try, but...using the Skyrim CK is a far better idea.
Thanks for the video. It looks like the scripts don't need to be all in the same folder, the structure of the original .zip\Scripts directory can be directly extracted and the CK can read it.
I play Starfield using the Xbox gamepass on my PC. Every time I attempt to open the creation kit, it imedetly closes its self. Do I need to own it on steam to use it or something?
You need to copy or move the files from ".../steamapps/common/Starfield" to wherever you installed Starfield, to make it work. For example: "D:/Games/Starfield/Content" Then the CK runs like the steam version, but unfortunately, for me at least, after creating a small testmod, the game was crashing everytime even before the menu had loaded. After removing every mod & CK file from the game, multiple game file repair attemps, it kept crashing on loadup, which wasnt fixed, even after a reainstallation! I was closed to get mad, but I made it run again by deleting every temp & cache file on my system, which could be possibly associated with starfield. I hope you will be more successful, but I decided even before the CK released, that I will buy the Steam version! You cant seriously develope mods without a modmanager...
Hello. I would really appreciate a step by step tutorial for how to make my own radio station so no one has to buy licenses and i can fly trough space still listening to gorillaz. I know i could just turn it on outside the game but it just wouldnt be the same. I dont know anything about modding but i am still considering to learn how to mod just so i can have my radio. Im kind of low iq so would be much appreciated.
Hi Dark Fox. I've followed your instructions in this video, but when I am moving all of the scripts from the "Tools / ContentResources.zip" file into my "Data / Scripts / Source" folder, I am encountered with a prompt which asks me if I want to overwrite the following 4 .psc files: QF_SFBGS003_BountyScannerQ_FD0066B3_2.psc QF_SFBGS003_BountyScannerQ_FD0066B4_2.psc QF_SFBGS003_BountyScannerQ_FD0066B5_2.psc QF_SFBGS003_BountyScannerQ_FD0066B6_2.psc This may be because of the way in which I've moved the .psc files into my "Starfield / Data / Scripts / Source" folder (copying and pasting the "ContentResources.zip" file into a new folder, unpacking the copied "ContentResources.zip" file, navigating to the "Scripts" folder, then using the search option (typing in ".psc") and dragging them all over into my "Scripts / Source" folder). I suspect that the 4 scripts I've listed above (in the "ContentResources.zip / Scripts" folder) have multiple locations in different sub-folders within "ContentResources.zip / Scripts", but share the same name(s). I've opted to overwrite these files when prompted, but may have caused trouble for myself in doing so. Thoughts? EDIT: In addition, in the "ContentResources.zip" file, there is at least one file within the "Scripts" folder that is not in a .psc format (that one I've discovered thus far being "Scripts / Source / SFBGS003 / placeholder.txt"). What, if anything, should be done with this file, and / or others like it? Thanks for your time.

Great to see you making Starfield Creation Kit tutorials! I'd love a video on creating dialogue in the CK.
its gonna be great!
Thanks, Dark Fox! Looking forward to diving back into my project, thanks in large part to you! 🙂

For these mods to work do I need to use the script extender mod from nexus mods? Sorry if this has been asked before. Thank you for your time.

I'll have to have a look at how Gamepass handles things. I do have GamePass to experiment with but will be focusing on Steam and the basics first.

If I copy psc files into /scripts/source,I also need to copy another 7 folders into it ?
Use to watch you 10 years ago 😸
Is CBBE out yet?

great to see ya here!
thanks for this man!

How much RAM do you have? 32 GB is the recommended minimum.
@@RichardBejtlich I hate to sound like an idiot, but I have absolutely no idea how to check
I forgot that the internet exists
How about an entire video on just the install? No one yet has even scratched the surface of how to optimize the CK2 so that it is 'responsive'.
