He saw it but didn't go for it. Because if he takes Firo's King, then he can't give check for the rest of the game. On the other hand, Alireza has Queen and and can and WILL give many checks which his own king is outside the board and immune from attacks. These guys see all these lines
@@michaelmassaro4375 I think he is mentioning the Bd6+ idea, King could not capture Bishop on d6 because White's King was on d5, protecting the Bishop on d6
Help me with the line at 4:50! Why not capture c6 with the bishop when the rook moves to d7? Takes away the e7 square for black and threatens pinning the queen. What am I missing? Love the videos by the way! (‘No asking Jeeves’ 😅)
at 6:56, if black moves rook to d5, then if the rooks are swapped, he re-captures w the pawn, undoubling his pawns. And could lead to a passed pawn situation
It seems Alireza is one of the few players who isn’t hyper-intimidated by Magnus. Respects him clearly, but doesn’t seem to change his aggressive style and cower like so many of the top GMs. So refreshing, hopefully both players will be in top form …
Squirming is also meant to mean moving around as in squirming in one’s seat 💺 a squirmish also means a feeling of restlessness of unease feeling anxious
The game is just about drawable if black plays c5 rather than B x f2. This allows black to prevent the white king entering the game. Lots of precise play but drawable
Usually the audience is gasping when a fashion model struts the catwalk in a stunning outfit, preferably nearly naked. But Alireza can do the same thing, without the nudity, on the chessboard.
I’m pretty sure we’ll be getting a Magnus game tomorrow from you James Looking forward to it Denis can make some Great moves and tactics but funny how Alireza knew to distract the King by pushing the passed pawn but Denis missed the same tactic against Magnus in their last game Cheers Good Night
Congratulations for being the first English speaker in history (a language that now spans five continents; six if you count Antarctica) to put a C on the end of onomatopoeia. I never would have considered slither an example of such a word, but Bing Copilot confirms that you're right. I don't have much to say about the chess game because my mind always goes into Looney Tunes star-seeing mode every time I see those obnoxious Alireza shoes. I should recover by tomorrow.
@@epicchess2021 Indeed there are seven continents, but there are no English-speaking countries in South America. You've got the UK in Europe. Australia is its own continent. In Asia, there's Hong Kong and Singapore, not to mention many countries where it's an official language like India where it's not natively spoken. There's a research base in Antarctica. Africa has tons of countries that speak English, and North America has Belize, the US, and Canada (plus some islands if you're going to count Jamaica as English-speaking).

A very elegant finish from Alireza. Neither of the words you mentioned are examples of onomatopoeia, which is when words sound like what they sound like. Woof being a prime example, the word for the sound of a dog in every language is onomatopoeic, here they say voff voff. In Korea they say glong glong. Try saying it like a dog noise it works. King could not capture Bishop the king can not move into a check which would be the case the Bishop was defending the pawn only the Bishop could recapture

onomatopoeic… My powers have more than doubled since our last meeting, Count.
9:46 If king capture and alireza makes a queen I would just simply take the enemy king, cant believe denis did not go for that line, what a rookie
so true
How would that work how would Denis take a king when he only had a Bishop left on the Board ??? Chess or Checkers ?

If king captures, it's an illegal move and you lose immediately :D

Why is Bd6 is so special? I thought its gonna be bishop promotion as it kind of rare move to promote to bishop and it should still be winning?
From what I’ve heard it’s the rarest promotion of a pawn to become a Bishop
