Man second time here an I straight subbed. Just got introduced in the Analog World in the last couple of months and was tracking myself with preamp and comp and really hat the problem lately with capturing dynamic range over my full songs. Im trying to experiment on my Vocal range since a year and I always found it weird sounding to me, after dialing in. It was just the problem that my lower melodic sections are so much quieter than the high voice energetic runs I do sometimes and so it was mindblowing what you said about altering the preamp in different sections. TBH I really felt quite dumb rq hahaha but thank god! this info is a blessing, cannot wait to test it in the stu. Please keep up the good content. much Love!!!
Hell yeah! I love that I was able to help glad to hear that it’s starting to make more sense to you now! Most definitely going to be dropping more gems in the near future!! Cheers 🥂
Hey bro can you do a Lil Uzi Vert video? The Pink Tape just dropped and it went crazy. I really like the song "Pluto to Mars" so if you can do something inspired from that I think it would help a lot
It’s built off of that but I switch my chains around depending on the vocals I get so it’s always changing but for the most part this is the starting point and then I go more into detail when I start mixing and analyzing what the vocal needs to be treated. Swapping out from different tools to see how I can bring the most magic out of each track and group 🔥
Yo bro. When I’m mixing a song with a 2 track beat I always have problems with the low end. I roll off 30hz and even dip a few db with dynamic EQ but it still doesn’t sound right and it still hits too hard. What should I do? This is the biggest problem I’ve struggled with since the beginning. Thanks
If you roll off your low end that will create phase issues which isn't something I would recommend but the dynamic EQ is a good start. I like to use either a low shelf from 60hz down rather than to completely cut it off or I like to use Multiband Compression. My favorite is C4 from waves and there you could attenuate a lot of the low-end frequencies so its not eating up much of your mix completely taking over the whole track. If you wanted to go more heavy-handed you could also use Ozone Master Rebalance and turn down the entire bass section of the 2Track but would have to do that after all the recording is finished because it introduces a lot of latency. And then of course if you have the option to select the instrumentals if possible at all just look for ones that are more balanced with the low-end. If that's not up to you then try the above to tame all the low-end and then what you could do is if you have FabFilter's Saturn or Spectre by Wavsfactory you could then saturate the Low-Mids, Mids, Upper-Mids, and Highs a little but to even out the balance of the 2Track so it doesn't have such a bass heavy tilt. That's a starting point and every 2Track is different some things will work some wont but hopefully that's a good direction for you to start in and get some better results! Cheers! Happy Mixing
