  • In today's video I fit a lovely new DID Gold chain and JT steel sprockets to my 1996 Suzuki GSX-R 750 SRAD. This is a job I've wanted to do to the bike since I got it back on the road as it's very important for the overall feel, acceleration and safety of the bike. After opening the front sprocket cover to inspect it I'm veeeeeeeeeeeery glad I did as to say it was in need of a clean is an understatement!!

    Turns out this camera REALLY does not like being run out of battery....noted. :D Gold chains are the best chains, do you agree? :)

    Yep, it’s amazing to see the gunk that gets trapped near that front sprocket.

      Absolutely rotten! There was a crazy build up there 🤢

    If using only hand tools I found it better to loosen the rear sprocket nuts while wheel still on the bike 👍

      I've never actually done it that was due to the knees. Usually off the bike is grand but the arm isn't 100% yet! I'll try on the bike next time if I think of it :)

    I'm all about the grinder!!! I use the grinder to cut down new chains to size to! It's nice there is someone out on the internets doing everything I need to do and video recording it all so I can just watch cause I don't like reading and I can't remember all these years later....Oh dear lord you just dropped the counter shaft sprocket cover, that's nasty.....man that's a nice torque wrench, I need to upgrade, mine is ancient. I have issues with my camera in 4k it will only record so long and then shuts off completely but I think in my case it's an issue with the speed of my SD card not being able to keep up with my camera buffer when in 4k. I need more upgrades.

      Haha oh dear :D Yeah I just don't understand why removing the swingarm would be the option to remove an old chain. No. Thanks.
      Haha well happy to be of service :D Yeah it was absolutely manky in there, properly full of ooze. The big silver one is actually my Dads...I just borrow it :P Yeah I've never shot in 4k tbh. Way too much battery life and storage is eaten up. Hahaha get all the upgrades :D

    I have a 96 gsxf 750 which is the slower air cooled version of your bike. I'm planning on changing the gearing on mine to try and get a little bit more to end out of her

    • @TheGorillaBiker
      @TheGorillaBiker  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah gearing changes are always fun to play around with tbh, one of my favourite things to do now to change around how the bike feels.

    Chains. Well I have always lavished much love and cash on chains, until now. This VIAR with the off road I was doing needed a new chain after 9 months. Due to lack of tech info I decided it would be easier to buy a VIAR chain. Turned out to be the cheapest one ever Rp..125,000 = 8 Euros. So I fitted it and have not touched it other than spray chain lube on when it gets dry looking and it has so far lasted 2 years.... So I will stick with cheap is best lol.

    • @TheGorillaBiker
      @TheGorillaBiker  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      8 euro!!!! 😳😳😳 That's basically free! To be fair about 140 or so for the chain and sprockets I found to be pretty reasonable for these days. 2 years for 8 euro tho you'd be mad to do anything else!

    I’m having a hard time getting the hub to sit right. Can’t get the wheel back in because the hub wants to pop out. Any tips?

    • @TheGorillaBiker
      @TheGorillaBiker  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Do you mean the sprocket carrier? If it's that loose you're cush drives(the rubber chunks in the wheel) might be well past due a change. Otherwise just hold them together until the swing arm keeps it in place, that should be enough at that point.

    I'm doing the same job on my gsxr srad. The front sprocket has a rubber gasket thing fitted to it but the new one doesn't. Any idea what to do

    • @TheGorillaBiker
      @TheGorillaBiker  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The OEM has the rubber, it's to help absorb the slap from throttling on I believe, you don't need it and a lot of bikes wouldn't have it, so if the sprocket is otherwise correct I wouldn't worry about it :)

    OK. You have lured me back with that sexy gixxer. Hello baby
    Removing the swing arm lol. If the chain is dead, it's dead, no use in preserving it. Just cut that bihhhhh
    Whats your grindr account I'll match with you
    HEY SPLAT
    YAYA BACKGROUND MOOSIC
    Ohh what a good looking bike
    That gold chain looks really well on the bike!
    What do you use to get oil off your hands.. I heard salt and water but there's gotta be something better
    I always get micrometer and vernier calipers mixed up
    Your head is not stupid, its smart
    NICE

      @TheGorillaBiker  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yessssss my trap worked 😁😁
      I did properly belly laugh out loud when I read that one in the service manual 😂😂 Like yeah nah nah nah nah naaaaah. It's....Señor Moose.
      Splat is a G.
      I liked this moosic it was calming :P
      The gold bike with the gold chain and gold oil cap.....needs more gold.
      Eh not sure what it's called I'll check. Stuff we used on building sites for years tho. Tis good stuff. Sand and water works too. Any abrasive will get it out.
      I have a stoopid head don't be lying.

    • @TheGorillaBiker
      @TheGorillaBiker  3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      From memory it's about 35mm. I would recommend getting the service manual too though as it has all of that info.

    wat. sprocket s. can. I use

    • @TheGorillaBiker
      @TheGorillaBiker  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Depends on what you want to use. This is the stock setup, so 16 tooth front, 43 tooth rear and a 530 chain.
      I've since went to a 15 tooth front and 46 rear. If I went any higher I'd probably have to add length to the stock chain, so that's your limit really.

    WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING WITH THE LOANER BIKE MAN?! Keep it clean :'(! And hitting it with Gerty?! *Punches keyboard* Seriously sad :| do I need to go there and help ya next time? :P
    Seriously though, that the sign of the chain not being changed for some time, grime build up and shait. Means that at least the chain was lubed, maybe not well cleaned enough :S

    • @TheGorillaBiker
      @TheGorillaBiker  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hahahaha how is your poor keyboard?? 😂😂 Nah you might need to have a word with Gerty tho ...she's a violent one 😬😬 I'm sure a couple of kind words and she'd be right :P
      Not even not changed just never bloody cleaned 😳😤 Yeah that's true that grease would have kept it lubed either way 🤢
