The Nikon l35af is such a great camera. I’ve had 4 Yashica T4s that I’ve thrifted and tested. Always ended up selling them because the images just don’t blow me away. I found a Nikon L35AF a couple months ago and ran a test roll. The images were amazing. Even in low light, the photos come out sharp and in focus. It never missed focus and you can tell when it does because it tells you where it’s focusing. Something the Yashica doesn’t.

The lens in the T4 is okay, but the lens in the Nikon is exceptional. Basically, it is the 35mm lens designed for the Nikon F series of SLRs, crammed into the L35 body. The auto-focus system used is the same in both cameras. The Nikon is larger and more durably built (except for its infamous battery door). There were two series of L35AF cameras, the difference being the range of film speeds for the meter. Overall, the Nikon is a generation older than the T4. Both are hyped to death on YT, so both are over-priced.

Being able to set iso and use filters and hoods makes a difference.

Great comparison! You helped me decide to bring my L35AF with me to an upcoming trip to Japan. I've been been wanting a T4 for a while, but the images look really similar between the two cameras. L35AF's are built really well internally, and are more serviceable than T4's. L35AF 4Lyfe.

I cannot comment on the Yashica T4 because I have never used one.
I normally shot with a Leica M6 with 21/35/90mm lenses. However, when I needed to shoot my M6 with only the 35mm lens in a hostile environment where the camera and lens were likely to get lost, damaged, or stolen, I used my Nikon L35AF instead.
The difference in image quality between my M6 and my L35AF was insignificant.

Great work, I would also pick the Nikon.
Can we talk about that man's voice and mic settings? Honey in my ears.

nice review, would have liked to see also how they perform with the flash in daylight/artficial light since heard the Nikon has a weak flash no idea about the Yashica though, in terms of size the Yashica is defo a more pocket friendly only costs 2-3 times more than the Nikon ..still undecided bcz of the flash issue

The lens of the Yashica T4 has noticeable chromatic aberration, which can be somewhat difficult to accept. However, its overall color saturation is better, with some German-style green tones, making the image colors more pleasing. But aside from that, the Nikon L35af is a better choice in every aspect... whether it's sharpness, contrast, anti-glare performance, autofocus accuracy, or exposure accuracy.

More contrast and shadows on the yashica. I wonder how it would fair if the Nikon’s exposure was changed.

May be I am in minority here and I take photos for living. But I do prefer pictures from the Yashica. More colour balance, Perfect contrast. May be it’s just me.
    Great video nevertheless xx

Price of yashica T4 is 4 to 5 times more than the nikon , plus the nikon has a 35mm f2.8 and T5 35mm f3.5 . My choice is Nikon compare price , lens and IQ .😊
