EDIT: I was going to make a separate video but realized I wasn't really saying a ton, I actually really enjoyed Kell's Vengeance, felt like a very good challenge and right amount of difficulty in a 3 player setting, not terribly long, simple enough mechanic, and rewards people showing up with strong builds putting things to the test. I'd love to see more of that since it feels like there's so little that sits in that space for things.
I actually enjoyed the season, thought the "turning in potions for rep" mechanic was a great way to farm gunsmith engrams I needed for a heal clip + incand heliocentric I really wanted, plus the resource potions have been great when I was short on glimmer/exotic ciphers/ascendant shards/ascendant alloys (which is always). And while it might be a revamp of onslaught, onslaught is one of my favorite activities on account of the high enemy density, and the salvation portion was enough of a change to keep it fresh for me. I wanted to say in terms of lore though, Spider hasn't been offed since he is a major crime boss. You don't off a major crime boss like its no big deal, even if he flaunts himself in an easy to kill manner, for several reasons. Firstly, one of his subordinates will just take his place, and now instead of neutral, they are opposed to you. The only possible case where this doesn't happen is even worse however, as it would mean that *several* of his subordinate would have taken his place, and now you have a gang war. Secondly, organized crime, although obviously worse than low crime, is generally preferable to the same rates of *unorganized* crime. Organized crime will say "pay us or we will ransack your house", ordinary criminals will just take your money *while* ransacking your house. Both of those combine to make it very dangerous to simply take out the leadership of organized crime. Its simply too "big man" centric of a thought that taking out the leadership will cause crime rates to plummet. We would at least need to spend the time to weaken Spider's organization as a whole before it would be a good idea to take out Spider himself, and we just haven't had that time. There is also the fact that Spider's organization is simply too useful to make an enemy of. How frequently has Spider shown up in the story to tell us "I have something you NEED. Do me a favor and I will give/tell it to you." Those things don't go away once Spider is dead, they often become much harder or impossible to find. The game could throw more nods at those facts though. Also, Eramis doesn't become Kell of Kells. The Echo chooses her to reclaim Riis, and with the Echo she purges Mithrax of (at least most of, possibly all of but Mithrax doesn't think that is likely) Nezarec's corruption. Then with Fikrul dead, Eramis leaving the system, and Variks not yet having reformed House Judgement and currently working for Mithrax, that leaves House Light as the only House left, and thus Mithrax as Kell of Kells. Mithrax is still scared of Nezarec's curse flaring back up, and thus he does some political/organizational/legal/whatever stuff to allow him to be more easily deposed in case that happens.
Yeah I should've mentioned the Eido buyback system because it was sort of the answer to "ok I have a bunch of wasteful throwaway tonics that I got to just make the tally go up". Also yeah as I said in vid, I do think there was a logical point to expand Onslaught and I definitely don't dislike the activity. I also get it's an opinion thing, not everybody was there for Into the Light or went necessarily super hard playing it the first time around. It's definitely not a bad mode by any stretch and we definitely do need a constant activity like that where you can have a build/weapon combo open up a little with just a wide supply of adds. I also do see how you mean with Spider where might as well just keep anybody of a relationship of convenience, and obviously Plunder humanized him further and iirc he was the more benign sibling of Siviks. Also the lore has such a shallow bench that I get if we're keeping anybody we actually have a face, name and voice to this late in game. Never hurts to have an objectively shady character in a world where it can be a bit too much of a hugbox. And yeah I'm aware of the technicality of Kell of Kells and what went down, when I recorded that line I mispoke the lines I had hastily written and just kept it in brushing through the ending. As much as I sound like a bit of a hater in the video and I still a little whatever for this season, I didn't necessarily hate the concept with Eramis's intentions with stuff and I again do think she is a worthy enough equal of Mithrax despite how Bungie has had her all over the place a bit too much saturday morning cartoon villian-y. Maybe calling it "forced" is a bit too harsh, and more of it's one of those things I wish we ironed out sooner than later when they kept plopping Eramis in and out of things. I'm also still not crazy how we lost Rasputin in a way I wasn't too satisfied about, especially when he got redeemed, story for a different day. I get Fallen drama is a bit tricky to pull off when we already had stuff happen early on in game ages ago whether on screen or in lore books. I do get at the end of the day Bungie is playing with an extremely less than ideal hand especially for a franchise that is this old. I do still stand by my point that I was a little irked that they hid a lot of good stuff in these Field Work missions that I know few will really go through, especially something as good as Variks actually reflecting on his political moves in what would've been Forsaken and all that. Thanks for watching!
as an old school player from D1 i still pick up the game i'd say every other dlc. this is the first time that i've come back, and though to myself "honestly i will probably enjoy this the same amount, whether i buy the dlc or not." it's disappointing to see a game i once adored, turned into this... (side note) back in D1 I was one of the players who regularly soloed crota's end. OH MY TRAVELER I MISS DOING THAT!
Thought the Exotic mission was fun and not very frustrating compared to others. Also really enjoying the shotgun with Backup Plan. That's it though. The rest of this season is hot doodoo.

Destiny 2 is really bumping into the power ceiling for weapons and it really REALLY showed this season
