Personally year 1-3 of D1 was magical. I enjoyed collecting those grimoire cards/points. Exploring all the worlds of D1 was great, beating VoG for the first time by pushing Atheon off the map with voidlocks. My team was 8th place for beating crota's end, I loved that raid even though it was generally hated. 2 manning it was so fun. I played Destiny 1 since launch and have a lot of memories with the game. I remember how rare exotics were and even legendaries in the very beginning. All the OG clans too like Resolute, Bombsquad Kittens, Primal, 13 Devils
Destiny 1 was beyond lightening in a bottle. The most addictive game I have ever played and have such fond memories of. D1 Orbit music still makes me cry a little bit, it was so hopeful and captured the majesty of space.
Man I remember I first played destiny when the “taken king” expansion dropped , and i never looked back, been playing ever since , it feels like ages ago Now
Tried hopping into D1 crucible the other night and it was stuck at 1/12 for 5 minutes 😞 just ended up deleting it for space. And the tower was rlly full for me as well when I hopped on before. Thought I’d get into a match
The one thing I miss so much from d1 was the strike specific loot, go in a strike kill a boss and come out wearing their head or with their armor or even a gun that reflects the strike
Easy to say when D1 only got updated content for 2 years. It didn't go on for long enough for them to feel the need to diversify what Destiny looks like.
The game being unexplored and unknown in Destiny 1 was definitly a special time. I still remember in Rise of Iron where the meta for Aksis raid boss from Wrath of the Machine was everyone going with the exotic precursor of Falling Guillotine simply because it could hit multiple legs on the boss and cause more damage. But then 1 random dude goes to the Future War Cult, sees a clusterbomb rocket launcher roll being offered that week, buys it, uses it and in a raid suddenly had way more damage than the meta guys. Turned out he hit even more legs. The community went WILD that week when people heard what went on. Meta change months into the expansion simply through coincidence. Just like that. There wasn't a lack of deep dives in the community but it was just way smaller and people took it less serious.
Hopped on and met a guy named Grzela, he introduced me to his buddies and ended up taking me through all the raids in less than 2 hours, after a bit they told me they were speedrunners and when i looked them up they all hel one to two world records and all raid records, they taught me how to wall clip and skate on titan, it was a very fun experience
It’s crazy to see the difference from 10 years ago. I played the Beta and had so much fun playing as a Titan. But also do agree that I wished they could have kept the original D2 campaigns (ie. Red War / Forsaken.) I know red war isn’t fondly remembered but I truly enjoyed the hell out of it and loved replay with heroic versions of the missions until they were taken out.
Heyya Cross! Long time FFxiv player here from my knowledge, no. Not 1 major expansion story has ever been removed to make space. The only thing that comes to mind is when the base ARR MSQ had alot of the pointless fetch quests removed and thats about it. We have maps/modes removed to fixed or updated but never truely put into a content fault
I mean TBF they removed all of 1.0. and they did "stream line" ARR during shadowbringers getting rid of some quests to make it faster. And like the only things they REALLY! wanted to remove was stuff people just didn't like but I think it was more "were taking out the quests so you can do it on your own instead of being locked during the story" kinda thing from what I've heard.
1.0 was a masive failure on the older devs that spear headed the project. It was only reborn from it and still got updates + fixes as ARR was being made at the sane time. Only map that hasnt returned is a pvp mode from Rival Wings (Astralogo's) But XIV has never content vaulted anything thats paid for. Only made fixes to streamline stuff which as stated above were pointless to the games overall story.
25:00 when you were talking about getting drops in Crucible while going negative.... i was the first person i knew that had Ghorn. during launch week i played a crucible game that i went AFK in to make food. when i came back i saw completion screen and it gave me Ghorn. funny part is that wasnt even my first exotic... patience and time was.
I still play Destiny 1. When it comes to PvP I play it a lot. Assuming it's a good PvP game Mode like "Mayhem" or "Combined Arms" as the featured crucible mode. My two favorite modes. Still a good amount of players playing to this day. Even though I miss the fast movement in Destiny 2, I'm fine with this because it isn't fast gameplay like in Destiny 2. It's slow and enjoyable. And I forgot how much I hate snipers in Destiny 1. They dominate the crucible. So glad they kept the game running still.
My son grinds D1 every day since a couple weeks back on my x1 and he have stoped play d2 Completly. And every time i walk by im jelous he got to experience it. Cus just at look at him play showes how much more soul they had in everything in maps, scenery, art, story, secrets , and the gemaplay upscale on my oled tv is not bad either. So i understand why he plays it, just sad for him not to experience the raids and get all the exotic raid Guns. I gave him a hint about necrocasm grind..and he sat for 4h loading in to same areas before the husk of the pit dropped. So fun see him actually grind for stuff instead of like d2..”talk to these 3guys and do a strike..here you have new exotic..”
Being more”boring” was what made D1 great. You actually feared encounters because you knew you had to work for things with a strategy. Couldn’t just nuke everything
I had just turned 14 and I remember booting it up for the first time at my dads house on the living room tv. I was hooked. I remember passing on Gally, and all the ups and downs. It’s kinda always been there. Hopefully Frontiers will give me the same feeling and vibe that watching D1 info videos from MoreConsole and Datto.
Hey that's how the Dark Souls community does the "Return to Lordran" event. Idk if it's annual, but a date is selected, gets spread around the Internet, and suddenly you get an active dark souls 1 for a day, or two. Maybe a week. Who knows!
Man everytime I see D1 clips and vids it takes me back to simpler times when I wasn't responsible for so many things :') My PS3 and PS4 are sealed away in their boxes in my storage and seeing this always tempts me to boot it back up. Good good times but I'd probably get a headache going back to 30 fps after having 144+ fps on PC these last few yrs of D2
Wild this vid dropped as I was just finishing Shrine of Oryx 😄 I’m doing a nostalgia trip back through the campaign missions 😎 I do think D1 was better in some areas than D2, most notably sound design and music.
I bought two games at a Game Stop 3-for-$10 dollars sale and looked through everything they had for a third and picked Destiny TTK because I was in the vaguest sense aware it was a sci-fi game. Got home, didn't want to start one of the other games because I didn't have the time at that moment. Boom! Hooked forever. Not even sure I ever even put either of the other two games in my 360. Imperfect as it is, nothing bad can be said about D1 for me.
Hitman World pretty much seemed to have solved the content / season / destination issue. It’s all organized and put into tiles, and I think you can download it in parts. Been a while since
Old Warlords should’ve been brought back, doesn’t make sense that they’d stay dead. SIVA is tech. Also they ruined special ammo so people wouldn’t go back.
I played D1 several months back, loved it! Reminiscing in the tower and strikes - some of those things are hard to solo now. Climbed the mountain, hours of fun ❤. I miss siva
The idea of a vanilla launch, I've been dreaming about it for a long time. Im still playing d1 btw im on a discord with ppl and we be doing raids and nf
Played D1 since the first beta, and I really miss the game, and the sensation of the unknown and don't know what to expect when doing strikes and raids. This was such a nostalgia trip. I'm glad to have played this since the beginning, though I play D2 on and off nowadays, and I enjoy my time, still don't feel quite the same as the glory years of D1
I got kicked out of my first ever VoG run in D1 because I got Hawkmoon from the exotic chest after the Templar, which was, at the time, the only place it could drop. I was a carry that didn't know the mechanics with a group that had been running it with the grenade cheese that were all trying to get it. Found another group the next day and beat it while using my Hawkmoon. lol... good times.
Been playing D1 Crucible again for the past few days, and I am honestly having a blast. You find lobbies surprisingly quickly these days, and while the “Meta” options are limited, it feels like everything is still pretty balanced out. There’s plenty of room for you to try guns you haven’t touched in ages.
To the point near the end talking about how rare exotics were and how hype we were when one dropped: I still have a photo I took of my TV back in 2015 where me and my brother played a nightfall and I finally got G-Horn and he got hawkmoon after months and months were we both wanted them so bad. One of the most hype moments I have ever had gaming so I will always keep that photo. P.S. the random 3rd on our team also got icebreaker, which if you played D1 you know how extremely powerful those 3 weapons were and how extremely rare it is for those to all 3 drop in one activity.
YES!!!! Re-release D1 with every ounce of content it had from launch thru House of Wolves as a stand alone game on current gen consoles/PC. People deserve to experience D1 as it was and not the watered down version.
I remember skipping college on the launch day of D1. That game was so good. I miss those days before massive live service games. Also, Fatebringer, Black Hammer, and Gjallarhorn. Best loadout.
came just to comment that yes, i still play destiny 1. at least a couple times a month i play. its still very populated, i find crucible games quickly and strikes even faster. i still go lfg on xbox to do raids. its great.
My friends and I still go on D1 and play. Been playing since it came out in 2014. When I got my 5, it was one of the top 3 games I transferred over. And, like was said here, it's almost always full of players at the Tower.
19:11 This has always been my biggest gripe with Bungie. They took away the content that made me interested in D2 in the 1st place. The Red War and Forsaken were the reasons I got interested in the game, and that got taken away from me. I can’t even recommend the game to others anymore because I don’t know how to get them interested in a story that has no playable starting point
I played D1 off and on until about 2020. I would still login during the Holidays to play around with old stuff. I finally gave it up when I got a PS5. The First Descendant has kinda been my replacement for it, but nowhere near how much I enjoyed D1. It will always have a special place in my mind.
I still remember my first exotic ever (hawkmoon) and accidentally buying ghally when it first came with xur. Didn't even know how good ghally was till friends told me
Been playing since the beta and man my mind was blown first time stepping into the cosmodrome. I was playing advanced warfare and my brother told me about the game
I remember seeing the trailer for destiny with my brother. Thought it looked awesome. Went to my friends played it there and just fell in love with the cosmodrome. Then went to another friend and told him take out cod from the Playstation and try this. We never looked back. I got my ps4 shortly after and the best times in gaming for me. Sure the game ain't perfect but still my favorite
I remember having to do all kinds of workarounds for private scrims in pvp. And even helping ole fallout plays do testing. I only got to the lighthouse once, but I got the doctrine of passing with counterbalance and persistence. I miss it so much.
One thing worth noting is that jumping from Halo Reach or COD to Destiny was much smoother than starting Destiny 2 today. Base D1 was very simple and still felt like a Bungie game/classic shooter. Ask someone who plays Halo Infinite or modern CODs to try Destiny 2 today, and they would struggle to understand how the game flows. Destiny 2 kind of carved its own niche and is now very unapproachable to most.
Destiny 2 added 3 of coins in 2018 that was slightly different. It was a 4 hour buff that increased the chance you'd get an exotic at activity end by 50%. But it was bugged a lot of the time and actually decreased your chances and made it where you couldn't get them at all from heroic strikes. This was during Forsaken when exotics became extremely hard to get again, and there was no dup protection. Also, back then, doing an exotic weapon quest would then add those exotics to the loot pool of exotix engrams, making getting new ones even harder. Xur also didn't sell any new ones past year 1. This all added together to mean there was zero way to guarantee having an exotic drop(besides weapon quests, of course) and when you did get one to drop, most likely was from a weekly powerful, it was most likely an old weapon and since they were fixed rolls it was a wasted drop(unless you were power leveling then it'd be +5-6 base power). Exotics felt special back then and Forsaken exotics were so powerful that having one drop on the ground felt amazing, unlike today where they're pointless. The last exotic weapon to come from a random engram was Monty Carlo from Shadowkeep, sucks they removed that as random exotics were always a fun chase in a new expansion. When they went to armor 2.0 and added discipline, intellect and strength to exotics it became another huge grind for vetren players. Exotics you already had became useless and collection rolls are 40 something statted, meaning you had to fsrm out each and exotic armor peice again. Vetrens with all previous exotics had the worst time because of dup protection. New players could just farm them, and with the dup system guarantee they'd get every exotic with a decent roll(above 60) 1 at a time until they had them all. Us vetrens would first get all the new exotics, and then it was all luck until we eventually got the rest. Since dup didn't work anymore as you technically had every old exotic, it was completely random, meaning we had to suffer using 40 rolls for ages. Getting down to the last 1 or 2 exotics for a specific class was brutal. Geomags was my last armor 2.0 exotic, which sucked because it was meta in pvp at the time(and good in pve), and I was stuck with a 40 roll for many many months. Now, getting the new exotics is the worst it ever has been. Lost sector farming was a good system, imo and I enjoyed going to farm them each season. I do understand new players had a hard time getting them all that way, and they needed a different system but forcing it onto all of us is a stupid fucking system. Now, each expansion season, you just horde exotics in your inventory and save all your season pass ones then day 1 of a season(Episode) just turn them all in, then pull from last season from the website until you reset then just buy them.......extremly stupid and boring. It also uses up your cyphers, though you get them all again from the pass and vendors. Why the fuck did they completely remove the lost sector and Vex Offensive method(makes more sense, old destination)? If ppl didn't wanna do sectors, use the new system, but for those that do, like me and every single other hardcore player I know, let us do sectors. We like farming, it's why we play Destiny in the first place, we don't like sitting at a vendor for 10 mins spamming a button. It was the last remaining random system for exotic armor left in the game.
Wow, it's all coming back to me. I haven't logged in for years since Destiny 2 came out. I still remember D2 day 1 and the epic intro music. Only D2 could rip me away from D1 🥺
I dont have consoles anymore but still have my disc copy of D1. Im done with destiny as a whole now but will always have the last ten years of memories
I started playing Destiny again since I never played on warlock. I have fallen back in love with it and I have been playing it everyday leveling up to 40 and searching for god rolls.
I don't "regularly" play D1 but I play it far more than D2. I don't have any love for D2 but every time I come back to D1 it's just a good time. Recently got my friend to buy it! The entire collection is available for a only a few bucks on xbox as of at least a few days ago!
I still remember the first time I saw the destiny 1 game ads and I commit that I will play that game, and then knowing that it will only available on console I'm disappointed, because I don't play on console anymore since PS3, then after a long wait when destiny 2 launch and available on PC I immediately bought it and still playing until now, never skip a season.
@24:23 that was literally my same reaction to finishing the D1 campaign. Because of my boy's halo tradition of beating campaign on legendary first before playing pvp, my fireteam did just that. And at the end of the boss fight after this midnight (or whatever time it was ) release, that we stayed up and took off from work for, I went "wait thats it??? I dont understand anything!!" Lol
I’ve been saying this for a couple years now. I would LOVE like a stand alone just campaign game for nostalgias sake. All of them from D1 to now. I don’t have the time to play destiny anymore but I would love to just leisurely play through the campaign. But as someone pointed out it would be hard to do the parts where you have to be out in the world doing something but I think that could be solved by a cut schene or something.
Oh man, I remember when we got the Exotic Class Item and then got to wear another Exotic Armor piece. Also, the toughest boss in the game..... The Forklift in SRL...... Good times.
I liked how you didn’t own every exotic, unless you were hard out enough to eventually get them. My main thing as a casual was the activity specific drops, like IB had unique ghosts, ships, shaders and emblems that was an rng drop. Also faction ships and the exotic class item that gave you extra rep.
I'll still hop on D1 with a friend everyone once in a while. I do wish it was ported over to PC though. I kind of want Bungie to release a sub game simply known as the content vault, where all the old content is placed for people to play in single player or optional multi-player (I'm thinking in a way similar to Minecraft where you would have to invite them to a local server). This would allow people to mod the game or create custom maps and levels without messing with a global server. It would also allow for people to experience older content and control what content is down loaded on their system by picking and choosing thus solving Destiny's file size problem.
I'm sad about the way I mostly missed the Destiny 1 experience. I remember being so excited for Destiny, midnight release and everything, after playing Halo for so long. My buddy showed me the loot cave and we were there for hours. I thought that was the main looting experience of the game and I never played it again. I didn't play again until Beyond Light and I've put in almost 4k hours since. Though It was probably good for the progression of my life that I didn't become addicted until my life was in a successful state. Lol
D1 has the best opening menu music.

Tried hopping into D1 crucible the other night and it was stuck at 1/12 for 5 minutes 😞 just ended up deleting it for space. And the tower was rlly full for me as well when I hopped on before. Thought I’d get into a match
I play it more then D2.. When ever I feel like playing I just go and dust off my xbox one

Even through all the ups and downs this game has given me so many great memories. This game truly is Legend.
The one thing I miss so much from d1 was the strike specific loot, go in a strike kill a boss and come out wearing their head or with their armor or even a gun that reflects the strike
8:00 Destiny went through "Marvelfication", that's why D1 still looks unqiue and has that aesthetic that stands out.
Easy to say when D1 only got updated content for 2 years. It didn't go on for long enough for them to feel the need to diversify what Destiny looks like.
D1 has recently had a price cut on PS incase anyone was wondering
And xbox only $29.95 AUD
D1 Beta Veteran and a crayola eater till today. The intro music still gives me chills.
I agree it does give me chills
Only map that hasnt returned is a pvp mode from Rival Wings (Astralogo's)
But XIV has never content vaulted anything thats paid for.
Back when things like scout rifles and sniper rifles were the PvE meta. Burning Eye and Ex Machina were the kings.
Still piercer
I love the rocket launcher from wrath of machines
Yep. Just started playing it a week ago. I'm hooked.
Me! I still love raiding in D1
What's your tag. I'm TheArTiCpHoEniX
Ya mine is vihu_champ12
just finished my third sword quest today
Which one?
Never did one 💀

I still play Destiny 1. When it comes to PvP I play it a lot. Assuming it's a good PvP game Mode like "Mayhem" or "Combined Arms" as the featured crucible mode. My two favorite modes. Still a good amount of players playing to this day.
Even though I miss the fast movement in Destiny 2, I'm fine with this because it isn't fast gameplay like in Destiny 2. It's slow and enjoyable. And I forgot how much I hate snipers in Destiny 1. They dominate the crucible.
So glad they kept the game running still.
Unknown Player, what an OG, I used to watch him during the glory days for D1 Y1
He was my go to source anytime I was stuck.
Yes. I do. Literally last week to do some Sparrow Racing and Combined Arms. I miss it so bad...
We use VOG as a corporate training tool to see how new employees interact and collaborate in a novel setting. Pretty chill stuff tbh.
Sparrow Racing?? I thought that was shuttered with the second Dawning and wasn’t in the game anymore! You’re telling me I can still play SRL??
@@gascan7333 only in customs
@@randomstuff_21 what? How?
SRL was in D1 in 2016 which last i checked wasn't last week. Why you lying?
It is a tough problem to work around tbh
I refuse to play these meta prismatic classes for reasons like this. I am still holding onto my Titan Bubble since D1 haha
I should do a ritual every new year play D1 for one day I guess 😂
Hey that's how the Dark Souls community does the "Return to Lordran" event. Idk if it's annual, but a date is selected, gets spread around the Internet, and suddenly you get an active dark souls 1 for a day, or two. Maybe a week. Who knows!
I recently went in and created a new Titan. I haven’t been on it in a couple of months, but I did restart the campaign. Love it!
Reinstalling D1 to be nostalgic as we speak!
Wild this vid dropped as I was just finishing Shrine of Oryx 😄
I’m doing a nostalgia trip back through the campaign missions 😎
I do think D1 was better in some areas than D2, most notably sound design and music.
Fun fact, guns echo based off room size unlike destiny 2
I bought two games at a Game Stop 3-for-$10 dollars sale and looked through everything they had for a third and picked Destiny TTK because I was in the vaguest sense aware it was a sci-fi game. Got home, didn't want to start one of the other games because I didn't have the time at that moment. Boom! Hooked forever. Not even sure I ever even put either of the other two games in my 360. Imperfect as it is, nothing bad can be said about D1 for me.
Yep I still play on occasion when I feel like Playing Destiny I'll play D1
Hitman World pretty much seemed to have solved the content / season / destination issue. It’s all organized and put into tiles, and I think you can download it in parts. Been a while since
Old Warlords should’ve been brought back, doesn’t make sense that they’d stay dead. SIVA is tech.
Also they ruined special ammo so people wouldn’t go back.
We have outbreak and exodus black so siva 100% still exists.
@@Lorentz_DriverSIVA was supposed to be on that crashed rocket on Nessus but Luke Smith hates SIVA and was like nah
I played D1 several months back, loved it! Reminiscing in the tower and strikes - some of those things are hard to solo now. Climbed the mountain, hours of fun ❤. I miss siva
06:27 unc was looking ROUGH in D1 💀💀
D1 will always hold a special place in my heart. Good ol loot caves haha
The sniping reminding me how Halo used to be before it changed. I loved it.
The idea of a vanilla launch, I've been dreaming about it for a long time. Im still playing d1 btw im on a discord with ppl and we be doing raids and nf
Can i join??
Played D1 since the first beta, and I really miss the game, and the sensation of the unknown and don't know what to expect when doing strikes and raids.
This was such a nostalgia trip. I'm glad to have played this since the beginning, though I play D2 on and off nowadays, and I enjoy my time, still don't feel quite the same as the glory years of D1
I’m so bored of D2 I went back and did the old campaigns and it’s still so good
I got kicked out of my first ever VoG run in D1 because I got Hawkmoon from the exotic chest after the Templar, which was, at the time, the only place it could drop. I was a carry that didn't know the mechanics with a group that had been running it with the grenade cheese that were all trying to get it. Found another group the next day and beat it while using my Hawkmoon. lol... good times.
Why were the destiny one graphics low-key better?
Lighting, not graphics. D1 graphics are obviously more jagged, but the moody lighting was peak. D2 is too clean.
D1 remastered for PC. Please
Sony should hire another studio solely for bringing back D1 and D2 stuff back in as optional downloads.
I jump on D1 from time to time and it’s still quite active. Even today the gameplay is still solid and I enjoy playing it.
I've been playing since the 1st look Alpha and I still go back to D1 just to soak in the nostalgia...good times.
Didn't even know how good ghally was till friends told me
Siva will be in Destiny Rising so I guess that’s something to look forward to lol
3:50 i was doing so good in my recovery, 4 years sober of Destiny(2) this year…
I need to stay strong
Started play d1 a few days ago and realize trying to solo raids is some of the best fun I’ve ever had playing this game
Been playing since the beta and man my mind was blown first time stepping into the cosmodrome. I was playing advanced warfare and my brother told me about the game
I got into destiny after its release when i saw gameplay of Vex Mythoclast. Me seeing that weapon drew me into destiny and i havent shifted since
I remember seeing the trailer for destiny with my brother.
I miss it so much.
i still go and play D1 every few weeks or so cos things feel better there pvp wise, my beloved havoc pigeon
Exotic bounties were amazing grinding w friends for juju or thorn and finally seeing the bounty drop was amazing
I'll never forget getting my first GHorn. Got it from a legendary heavy engram about 2 months after the game launched.
I jump in once in awhile. Just to break it up and a lot of good memories man ! At least I have Icebreaker there !!
Scarab emblem was also impressive in D1. Random drop after a match win while continuing on a nine straight win flawless card.
Sparrow Racing League still exists in D1 as a custom Crucible mode. There's no matchmaking but you can still make a clan night out of it.
I can see all the memories come by when he showed all those events
Im still playing Destiny 1 and just perfecting my builds. My brother has it from ps3-ps5
Just jumped back in to D1 on PS5 Pro and the new enhanced PS4 mode the game looks really clean!
19:17you got me laughing bro. That was awesome 👏 😂
8:10 The weekly rotation for the selector on the bottom left of the Nav was peak.. it was better than a bunch of labels like we have now in D2.
I still remember getting thorn and loving it for so long only using that so much fun
D1 exotic weapon bounties were amazing. I skipped school in 8th grade to finish the thorn quest lol
Lol
