Can't help but wonder if the woman was vengeful because he actually did something truly horrendous, or it was just a type of vengeful spirit miscontruing events, with our protagonist believing his own rendition of the event, under the influence of the woman. After all, there was still the outside force affecting him that we never got further information on, or perhaps we could have assumed it to be his loosening grip on sanity.
Those same questions are rolling around in my head too.
Really I thought the writing was awful.

The sound is so low, but I only have the quadraphonic stereo with the diamond rock needle. Any suggestions on if I should buy the dodecahedron stereo speaker system or jump to the googleplex stereo system with the moon rock needle? It's for my car. Wouldn't want either system for my home. 1:47:16 Seriously though with a protagonist this bad, I just can't side with him that god complex is just too much. Like seriously he didn't even murder the girl he just had sex with her then let her leave the town and died a few towns later what a joke.
Gahhh, on part two, now this "leaker" character is so annoying. Bragging like a child, see, I'm smarter than you while telling you how I did it, and I'll have another way next time.
For me, this has killed any prospect for this protagonist.
All in all, I can say whatever, too. But it's the raw 4cahn energy the character gives off in such a "serious" story.
Then the whole, this random police dept, has gone and made their files unreadable by even themselves, through some ARG cypher shenanigans and confusingly organised files.
To me, this is too much. Like either just have the leaker get all the files in one go or just repeated break-ins.
For example, if this is some secret gov agency running the police dept, then an easy way to avoid leaks is to write reports on paper that can't be hacked. But that would mean competent "bad guys," and the hacker couldn't continue their crusade.
Now, I don't mean to nit pick the story to death. It feels like a story from a young author early in craft and properly age, but for me whenever working with any kind of law enforcement, military, shady SCP or goverment forces I feel thought needs to be taken to have them feel credible and competent. If they are meant to be seen as a threat. You can have incompeny moments, but as a whole, you want your bad guys to feel dangerous, especially if they are going around threatening , bribing, and blackmailing people.
This needs to matter more than window dressing. This isn't some Hollywood actor shooting your wife, theng giving you a payout and making you a producer on a film.
Fifteen or so mins in, and im slightly annoyed because im struggling to see where it's set, given names of places and people you'd think UK. but light refrences choices of words and casual mention of guns and that to me then feels like the US, nothing major I know but being able to identify a setting just hrlps things fall into place and create a better picture of the world space
You don't have to side with or like the protagonist. Sorry this story wasn't for you.
