@@OverlordMalarkey They should take a page from warframe's book and have most of the stuff from the cartel market be accessible by farming and having a few stuff only available for real money. Of course the stuff from the cartel market is technically available through farming but players putting stuff up for a billion credits is just outrageous, so that one is players fault. The economy in this game is messed up. Anything that is worth buying in the gtn is above 1 million credits and even those are mostly pretty mid stuff. I was only subscribed once for about 2-3 months in like 2018 or 2019 and i played basically everyday and barely got 20 million credits, maybe im bad at farming but still. But even the stuff on the cartel market is overpriced, 1500 cc ( which is like 15 bucks) for 1 lightsaber is just dumb.
@@erthkin6272 I don't remember what credits were like back in 2019, but grinding tech fragments is a good way to get 15 million credits avg on SWTOR these days. But you're right, if you wanna get hundreds of millions, you need to do a ton of other stuff.
I said this from the moment she appeared two years ago...alas I am simple nobody who can't get into the minds of tens of thousands of people. But yes, Heta Kol has been the worst written and developed antagonist in this entire game. A reflection the drop in quality of the game and story overall.
@@THISISLolesh It never will unfortunately. Onslaught and how small of an expansion it was in 6.0 was our first warning sign. Then legacy of the Sith with 7.0 was the confirmation that the best years of Swtor are long gone and it's on life support now.
As a casual player who dips in from time to time, it’s a real heartbreaker seeing the state of the community. Star Wars as an mmo is such an attractive prospect. The IP has been mismanaged as a whole for so long now I really don’t know what will save it. I would love for this game to flourish but it seems like it’s in its death throws. And unlike galaxies, we don’t have another game in the oven to look forward to.
Thank you Boomy for all your hard work. I felt privileged that you placed my part in this amazing collab. To all my fellow creators: Never be hesitant. Never be afraid. Never be silenced. Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays!
I’m a developer myself, and I know it’s not easy to develop or fix certain things in a project that was designed X years ago. So, I wish them the best of luck. Personally, I would really appreciate better communication with the community, maybe a roadmap. Perhaps they’re preparing something big for version 8.0-we’ll see. I would also love to see a SWTOR classic/vanilla version. I think it would attract quite a few people, like me, who haven’t played the game since its release. LOTRO and WoW did something similar, and they found their audience.
I canceled my subscription at this stage I can’t justify spending money on this game anymore the expansions aren’t worth looking forward to and I dread every update.
Same with me. For me personally there has been nothing interesting or exciting to me that is coming lately. I also find the current character creation “modernization” awful that I don’t even want to play the game at all. At least until a toggle comes, or if ever. I agree that lately the game has been a mess and not worth the monthly sub. imo
Thank you for this video! Communication was always the key, not just gaming, but everywhere! I hope the people in charge hear you out, so we can together unleash the huge potential this game has!
There is a reason that Digital Extremes is so successful with Warframe: they listen to, love, and respect their community, they do their best to implement suggestions from the community. And Warframe is insanely successful, and it’s nearly the same age as Swtor in terms of being an older game. There is no mmo without a community. The devs gotta listen to their players and take some risks.
Realistically, until the majority of content creators, Swtorista and so on, come out in unison with a message to stop buying microtransactions, and boycott making content until we at least get better communication, nothing is going to change. EA is renowned for only caring about the cash, and the truth of the matter like it or not, is that you guys are providing free marketing with every video you make (even the critical ones). There are enough new casual players joining the game regularly that EA can afford to put this thing in maintenance mode and milk the cash shop. For all intents and purposes, this game is already a zombie of its former self, and it's by design. Broadsword is going to min-max the content to dollar ratio until the game dies, unless the bulk of content creators, especially the big names, and the bulk of players stand in unison, stop playing the game and paying for trash on the cartel market. It's tough to hear that, especially for a content creator (and especially for content creators who depend on this game), but reasoned or milktoast-criticism videos on the topic aren't going to make a dent unless everyone makes a joint, hardline, concerted effort.
What did you all hope for from Broadsword?! Broadsword MUST finally listen to us. Otherwise SWTOR will be dead from next year. Above all, we don't ask for much: bug fixes (sometimes very old ones), ranked PvP, better endgame, more endgame content + content. And also better customer support again. Not more! As I understand it, many people in support were laid off after Broadsword was taken over because the work they were doing couldn't be properly paid for. Customer support was from Bioware's side, not EA's. I hope that after the voice actor strike, things will improve again in the Broadsword team. I can understand that the money is needed to keep SWTOR alive at all, so it costs more to customize the characters. But instead of Broadsword focusing on raising costs, they should turn to the community first. Create more partnerships with “new influencers/streamers”, when more popular the game becomes, then more money Fact is, SWTOR has so much potencial. Pls Broadsword look more to the Community and Playerbase. We need a "revamp". Look at Blizzard with World of Warcraft. WoW has also downgrades with BFA, Schadowlands and Draenor. But Blizzard heared to the Community. to everyone reading this, merry Christmas and good health!
As a long time player and subscriber, I gave up on content, gameplay, and any hope of fixing the myriad of silly little bugs, clipping issues, logging in and out to get my map to populate, clicking multiple times on menus to get them to update, and so on. My beautiful Chiss main now looks like she's been rolling around on a greasy driveway because someone decided she needed to be "modernized". The only reason I am still active is because of the community. I run a guild with wonderful people allied with several other guilds and the community we've created is the only thing that keeps me involved. SWTOR is a social platform for a lot of people and the fact that its a game is becoming more and more irrelevant to a big portion of the community. That can only go on for so long. Just the view from my perspective.
For Christmas I want ranked PVP, a new raid and a few dungeons. I do NOT want cash shop updated based off of failed Disney Star War shows that no one watched nor do I care about Heta Kol or these Mandalorians. Sure I could go play WoW for ranked but PvP in that game is terrible on so many levels.
One big thing SWTOR does right is ZERO pay to win. Any complaint about credit cap or the cartel store is pure visual. You can get to max level with a sub and not spend any more out of pocket money and do well at End Game and even look good while doing so if you spend you included coins. There is also plenty to do but no one wants to do it. Very few players have completed every OP in HM or every Flashpoint for that matter. Yes the game can have more, every game can have more. Naturally, there is a lot of room for improvement and I do wish Broadsword listened to the players, maybe a suggestion box?
The devs should listen to the players and actively try to make the game more popular,i mean its a 10+ year old mmorpg, this alone gives some popularity. Imagine if the devs actually tried to make it more good. This could be achieved by 1.devs listening to the players putting aside their egos 2. To make this process more easy, the community can easily make a document or a roadmap, marking all the main problems, and the solutions the community has come up with. If they are feasible to code and implement,it would make everyone happy 3. The 7.0 story and villains are pretty dull. we had frikkkng eternal empire, entire galaxy at stake,a fleet that conquered both republic and the empire. Heta and her mandelotian shenanigans aint gonna come close to that stuff. 4. The devs should realize that maybe the players are feeling bored of the story cause it has no actual consequences or a powerful villain to face off against, and no higher stakes. Maybe this story would have worked out pre sor,but after witnessing it the players just want higher and more adventure, not downgrading the power of their characters they've built up till now
I come back and forth to swtor every 6months to a year and play anywhere between a month to two months. I can’t play any longer than that. It’s become a “Star Wars Barbie dress up game” I truly have not enjoyed playing swtor since “rise of the hurt cartel” I only come back to this game to try and live as a bh or a Jedi a Sith a snuggler even a trooper but with the content out now is trash. even escaping to play as those classes in the Star Wars universe has its limits when the game content isn’t good. Thank you for making this video! I truly hope broadsword and EA LISTEN! I’d love to come back and play again for an extended period I truly miss the good ol’ days of Star Wars the old republic I have such amazing memories.
So, we should praise them when they do something great and criticize them when they do something bad? Treats when they are good, sanctions when they were bad? Are these now puppies or damn adult humans? They don't need our feedback anymore; they know exactly what they should do. But they don't do it, and anyone who criticizes gets banned. So no, I won't praise them when they do something good, following the saying, even a blind chicken finds a grain sometimes. Seriously, what next? Should I take them by their little hands and subtly tell them what might not be so great, best after I've given them a lollipop just so these baby developers don't get offended and ban me? Enough. These are adult humans. There should only be one reaction left: if something useful comes out, it gets played, if not, then not. Enough is enough at some point. You act as if they aren't getting enough feedback. They do, but they ban anyone whose opinion they don't share. Meaning: feedback is not wanted, and therefore, it shouldn't be given anymore. Period, end of story, that's it. At some point, you have to draw a line. They're still milking what they can, and then it's over, then they'll shut down. And they know this, which is why they're not making much of an effort anymore. They're just doing the bare minimum to lure a few new players into the flytrap, to squeeze them and be done. I'm getting really sick of phrases like "Well, you have to praise them when they do something right," I don't have to do shit. These aren't little kids whose ego I have to gently stroke and build up; these are incompetent, spoiled, disrespectful as....es who think they can do whatever they want because the dumb sheep will play and pay anyway! To the devs, there's only one thing to say: shut down the game and end this dirge, or finally do what you know you must: GET YOUR DAMN ASS IN GEAR AND DO SOME WORK FOR A CHANGE!
Can you imagine that they just REMOVED an entire game mode from the game? We got banned from twitch chat for saying "Bring ranked back". I don't know what we need to do to actually get what we want and what we HAD but this video is surely a start.
I feel it'll kinda get back to normal, bit how I'm thinking of it right now is like when your job brings in a new manager and they try to shake things up and make changes cuz they're the new manager and eventually they give up or get fired
swtor has a direct link to lucasfilm and lucasfilm allows the game to exist. the game has so much potential but the devs have too much ego. it's sad to see it keep being squandered.
I would actually love to come back to the game. But I have been away well over a year and a half now. Right before the hand over to Broadsword. The only reason I haven't is because of the stagnant nature of the game itself, and the toxicity I have heard about from the channels I still follow. People actually had high hopes when the hand over was announced, but it seems to have gotten worse. I have such great memories of the game and the guilds I had been part of. I have recorded vids and screenshots that go back to 2013 in a folder. Sometimes the failures were the best moments and the inside jokes within tight nit groups and I still have friends on Social Media from those guilds, even attended a wedding of a guild mate. Back in 3.0 when I would carry full sets for Tank or DPS so I could do either and swapped regularly enough that I was known as a switch hitter in our guild and was good at both. I logged on one day and the Guild Message of the Day was "Holms goes both ways" and I laughed so hard at that. Sorry that got long, I started typing and it just came out. Oh and Merry Christmas ;)
Look, I hate to tell this community as I am not really a SWTOR player anymore and I haven't been for years, but you have to let this stuff go people, Star wars is dead as a franchise and has been for a long time now sense Disney bought it. The Story is damaged on all fronts of all media at this point and at the end of the day its not worth your money or time to save it. and if bioware and now broadsword is treating you all so poorly why are you still here? I guess what I am saying is, I am sure the private server SWG legends would love to have all of you join it.
Great Video Boomy, I personally feel they made a MASSIVE mistake in scrapping the class stories, it is what made SWTOR unique when it first launched and made you want to make another toon where as now for story I only have to play it once on rep and once on imp and that’s it … I agree with you massively that they need to listen to the community as any business should listen to their customers … I just want to mention I also agree more than wholeheartedly with Birdface Gaming please give us chair deco’s we can actually sit on 😂😂😂 and decos we can actually interact with for RP reasons 😂😂😂
Right now, the game feels as though it is on life support. The developers are fully aware of the existing problems, and they don't want to fix them. Instead, they seem focused on driving revenue through the Cartel Market rather than making meaningful improvements for the player base. It’s disheartening to see them focus on short-term profits at the expense of the game’s long-term stability and player experience.
I just hope they can start listening to players. Because if they keep being stubborn and treating the community the way they have. Plus ignoring feedback or backlash. Especially with the character modernization. The game will die and it will mostly be on them for not listening to the community and insulting or ignoring players.
@@BoomyNation I recently stopped playing due to burn out. Than I got back after about a month or 2 with still being subbed since their was a lot I wanted to do with the game. Although after 7.6 the game is completely unplayable for me. I just want a toggle and I don’t like how the current team has been handling the game or treated the community. I get that the community has a lot of toxicity and issues but ignoring criticism or critical feedback. Than responding with insulting, banning, gaslighting or ignoring players, backlash, etc. is not the way to handle things. imo
Couldn't agree more, been playing this game since about 6 months after launch, it saddens me to see it fall so far. I'm usually a solo player, but even I know a game like this cannot survive for long without the end game players and PVP players. Hope to see them acknowledge that sooner rather than later
I am playing this game since release, so many good memories. The game really helped me in bad times and met a lot of good ppl in it. It will be a shame if the game dies. I barely play it right now. Thank you for doing this for the game and the community man. Have a great holidays and keep doing what you doin. I love your vids.
i still miss the the world and my toons, but the endgame is holding me back. it is still worth playing at least once for the stories and companions. its a bad mmo, but one of the best rpgs.
The leaders and the writers need to go. Sorry not sorry. They should be on their knees thanking us that make content or are large guild GM's that keep communities in-game rolling. They should be reaching out to us for feedback.
Im sorry you still honestly believe this game can be saved. It cant. The moment they said MORE non voice acted cut scenes would be coming? It was clear this game is done. Only way they could SLIGHTLY save it for another year? Is to make 1-50 stories repeatable.
Not only that but the technical support has got to be the worse! I need a one-time password now to access the game that I have always had. But since the one-time password email is not coming through I need to contact the tech services in the U.S. and I live in Australia and it's going to cost me roughly $80aud to get a password confirmation fix! I am also a subscriber too!
@@BoomyNation I have been a big fan of your channel and I know I may seem like a downer in my comments in the comment sections. But I don't want people to mistake my negativity with facts. I am only preaching what others have been saying :3
Suggestions I'd like force judgment for my jedi knight, that's the jedi equivalent to force lightning, it's either green or gold lightning. More abilities generally perhaps adding in a new mechanic with the environment like ranged koltos or stealthing enemies without using stealth if they have their back turned to you, or a kick button if an npc is close to an edge if they are at half health for balance. Faster speeder upgrades, a weequai species or devaronian.
Dwarf Beard, Merry Christmas ReplaceTheWriters! is all I can say over and over again, we need writers who do more then watch the Mandalorian show and have a love for the Republic, the Empire, and epic battle between light and dark!
On the subject of the story changes that are needed, I definitely believe separating things out so that each class has its own story is necessary I've thought of how that would work, I just don't know how to share that idea because I don't really operate in forums The legacy system could find some real use too
Here is the stone cold reality. I left the game when it went "woke". Sure, there was the chicks with beards thing, but that's not what I mean. Jackie Ko took over as Community Manager. When she did, she went on a ban spree on the forums for anyone who didn't subscribe to her own sensibilities, and open vigorous discourse was no longer allowed - you either towed the line, which because she is woke became woke, or you got banned. And she is but one cog in a greater wheel. Its all across gaming. Look at everything Sweet Baby Inc touches. Look at What's happening with the Witcher 4 right now - did you know ALL the creators of the Witcher 3 are now GONE and its a COMPLETELY woke staff writing the Witcher 4? Bioware is one of the worst offenders - look at the new DragonAge game. And its not that they don't know how to make a good game - its that they flat don't WANT to. They are out to INTENTIONALLY ruin brands. And when challenged, they just say "it wasn't made for YOU!" - and then the game doesn't sell, and because they are stuck in an ideological brain fog, all they can do, after chasing off everyone, is call them racist. And for all the flack Broadsword is getting, the mostly woke staff is intact from BioWare. At this point, they aren't going to listen. They think they are better than you. Its time to jump ship and let this thing die.
They ruin brands, and I've mentioned this before because they can't create. They don't know how to create actual art and entertainment. So, they take what is already known and loved and destroy it. Woke is a cancer, and I am glad to see the tide changing. Sadly, the gaming industry will be the last to change.
Keep it up Boomy. Lots of players like myself are eager to return to the game. I find myself returning every 6months and noticing half my abilities are gone and the game doesn't feel good in PvP especially. It used to be fun.
This was a good video. One that every employee and shareholder responsible for Star Wars The Old Republic must see just so they can understand their community just a little bit more than they bother to now. I for one would like to see an interest in creating content that is more guild friendly outside of the repetitively boring content like world boss hunting and Operations and Conquest. And as a role-player i got to say, if clickable chairs are the number one ask for the RP community then something is wrong with us. Besides lately I would say the RP community has gotten more from broadsword then any of the other sub-communities in this game. New strongholds, New/interactive decorations, Armors and weapons to play with. Meanwhile PvP'ers are sitting around yelling at each other to queue up in gen chat cause no one really wants to play the hot garbage the Dev's have turned it into over the past few years. What happened to the days where going to Hoth for no reason only to find a random army of Jedi taking on a massive horde of Sith players in open world PvP cause we could and wanted to? You can not even orchestrate that anymore to save your life. Sad times have indeed befallen our beloved game.
I invested so much time into this game, and it saddens me to see the state of it because of arrogant devs/community managers and greedy execs. I really want this game to succeed, but as it is now, I cannot stand behind subbing. If it takes a drastic turn for the better, then I might be persuaded to return.
I love the game still and always will! I think broadsword are doing better than I thought they would. I think the new dynamic encounters or whatever they are called are cool af I do think there are some things that should have been handled first and they should listen to the communities concerns first before making their own changes however we are not in the end days for SWTOR I’ve seen server population a lot lower years ago and I thought we were screwed back then I hope this game never dies
I hope this makes the devs listen and I fully agree with you, SW Central and Aviriia on a lot of things that was mentioned in not only this video but their own videos in collaboration with other content creators. In the 5 years since launch, we got Vanilla stories till KoTET and 5 years from now all we got is the same storyline that refuses to be concluded. If this was an anime series, it would be cancelled by now due to extremely low ratings. Its the same dynamic, you do one thing go talk to Malgus and he rambles that he knows everything and this is only the beginning meanwhile Heta keeps winning while Shae does anything except leading the Mandalorians and making us (the players) do their dirty work. Not to mention, the Alliance is almost never involved in any case so why does it still exist if we (the Alliance COMMANDER) cannot use our own army of force and non-force users? The Hidden Chain would have been annihilated on Ruhnuk if the Alliance was involved especially when you rejoin your OG faction.
I think what PVE SWTOR is lacking is exactly that, good loot. If there were more ops and more secrets, like the Crest of the Dread Master for example. Thats such a cool item that someone can earn through ops and through secrets. People are sick and tired of grinding for fragments to upgrade gear.. thats not content.
Their arrogance and stubbornness will be their downfall. SWTOR makes more money than a lot of MMOs despite its numerous problems, but they are squandering it on things we never asked for. Sometimes, they might ask us what we want, but they turn around and do the exact opposite. Communication has never been good with BW and now BS. They are unwilling to hear that they are not doing a good job, and that is both immature and dangerous when your playerbase can cancel their subscriptions at any time.
I haven't played in over 2 years. I would be playing today if gearing was like 6.0. That was fun. It made HM raiding fun for me. I didnt care if everyone had the same gear because it's the skill and raid knowledge that mattered. I just really enjoyed playing through the stories and completing everything on a character so making everything soloable would be awesome.
Great vid, Boomy !! I'm sure there are devs, who genuinely want to deliver top tier content and know what must be done, but do not have the power to do so. I also feel the culture in gaming development has significantly changed. Gone are the frontiers and mavericks, replaced with administrators more concerned about authoritative directives and the bottom line. It's no surprise the once mighty big name publishers/developers we all know are currently struggling to maintain credibility. Where Star Wars is concerned, the rot set in from the top and it has corrupted this brand. It is for this reason, I feel nothing will change until the rot and its corruptive influences are purged. What compelling Star Wars stories can be told, when Lucasfilm/Disney do not seem to know how to tell them anymore. Granted, SWTOR lore is not cannon, but licensing is still controlled by Lucasfilm/Disney, and for what's left of the dev team to survive, they must comply. There is still hope. Fortunately, many of us fans and/or gamers are pushing back by speaking with our voices and wallets. I feel this has shaken the industry at least. Unfortunately, some along with their acolytes feel the need to blame their woes on the very people they need to support their products. While they continue on this path of self destruction, even they will eventually succumb to the truth. It will be all that's left.
Merry Christmas all. Thanks for the video Boomy. It is impossible to agree with you more. I have my own views and opinions but I would just get censored, I lack the diplomacy at this point.
New story lines with better options would be great. Killing a companion )torrian or vette) was stupid. You literally command the alliance in the middle of the war, and using your forces isn't an option, riddiculous.
I have played this game for 12 yrs now, I have been subbed, without a break, since that became an option and, for the last 6 years, I have been subbed to 2 accounts. I have over 80 toons and all of the strongholds on both of my accounts plus 2 guild ships (one for each faction). I run both of my families guilds (again 1 for each faction). My husband and 2 of my sons plus a couple of friends are all players and guild members. In other words I have put a lot of time and money into this game and I don't know what I would do if the servers closed. I am disabled and retired so spend a lot of time playing, Apart from holidays and hospital stays I log into both of my accounts every day and play. Yes there are some problems and there are things that I am, or haven't been, keen on. I don't play PVP or do Ops or much multi-player content tbh. More communication with the player base would be good but it needs to be 2 way, not the 1 way limited info drops we currently get (still better than before though).
it's good to see veteran's and content creators speaking out, but if community manager's keep's deleting people's question on forums and censoring them and the dev's don't listen this conversation won't move forward. a good approach for me is compile a short priority list of both what the dev's wanna do with the game and a list of what player's want in the game which is only three thing's: *Great Story Content *PVP *Dailies Set a date for a sit down between the dev's and content creators and some veteran's of the game to negotiate or a comprise. Because the relationship between the Game Developer's and their community is like a symbiote one can not exist without the other. Let's say the dev's keep's going down this route ignoring and not listening to the community and they just keep pushing out cosmetic stuff, eventually player's will get bored and leave the game. Because ask yourselve's this dev's why would the community spend their hard earned money on this game when the developer's won't even listen to them?. Heck even the Old Lotro game has a new expansion (Legacy of Morgoth) Don't let your community loose faith in you swtor Dev's becasue if that happen's well it's bye bye swtor.
I am canceling my sub for Jan. Swtor is, right now, what Star Trek Online was for me for years, it was the thing keeping the intellectual property from going into hibernation for me. Some people say Star Trek is dead, it's more dormant for me, like Starwars is fast approaching. I'll come back, when there creators who care come back. The Destiny 2 thing is a great example. It was also dormant for me for a while, then it died when First Descendant came out. I will never play Destiny 2 again because that void is filled. I can tell Swtor isn't in a good place because certain items aren't selling on the gtn or are selling for cheaper than ever. That's my personal gauge 😂
I mostly agree with Birdface, but SWTOR and Broadsword have different issue than Destiny 2. While Destiny 2 was built on loud critiscizm mostly from TH-camrs/Streamers with support of their communities basing their vision for game in comparison to Destiny 1, SWTOR was much more full game that has beel latetly degraded. When developement has been moved from Bioware to Broadsword they recived game that is mostly without bugs with lively community. Unfortunately for unknown reasons BS (kek! unfortunate name) team with one patch made for some players game unplayable (graphics issues, missing inventory slots, missing gear, missing characters, textures issues etc.) with bugs that were not fixed since they were reported by players on PTS and were rolled out with patch. It is much more wierd since half of already created Bioware SWTOR team has been working on it constantly (like if they forgot how game code works or someone from Executive team sat with them and told them what they should remove from consequent patch without knowledge what bugs final compilation of patch will get without knowledge how it will hit community). Who played Dark Ages of Camelot and Ultima Online will know that BS specializes in milking money from communities of MMO's that are unprofitable to be expanded, with introducing more and more items through microtransacions and in-game premium currency. And maybe (I accentuate: MAYBE) make game more profitable for distributor for greenligth further story developement. So imagine now half of small team that been working at Bioware has been moved to Broadsword to work on MMO without aproval to make an large changes (actors strike etc.), have to work fast with much more limited resources, while "community managers" who till now dealt with announcing itmes bundles and reccuring events in other MMO's has been flodded with complains about game bugs, optimization and lack of story updates. And what is their response: "Maybe you are the problem." Then slapping already annoyed players with suspension on official forum with silence of PR side of team. So major problems now are: BAD community menagement with silence of constructive critiscizm; BAD information flow on current status of further story updates; LACK of information about how in-game Cartel Coins store will be utilized in future; ACCUSING players of internal team problems and projecting on them responsibility for purchasing even more items for cash. Developement team is not guilty of all those crimes, but PR and Community Management teams are with Executives forcing even more strict rules. It is visble by constant titles rotation during official streams (which makes me think that they intrenally are looking for scapegoat to blame, while noone want that responsibility), while turning them more into infomercials. You might not agree with my stance but it is like I see it.
I think many of the complaints we hear about current content/trends in SWTOR are missing an important point. The people complaining about the new content are people who are currently dealing with the new content. In other words, they are people who have played everything in the game (several times) and are now just waiting for something new to do. Let's consider the possibility that Broadsword does not care at all about current end-game players. Let's assume that their business model (for better or for worse) is to constantly get new players who will spend a few years playing through the entire game and then go away, constantly being replaced by more new players. Let's face it: the IP is great and the early stories were excellent and pulled us all in. One of the biggest complaints from current end-game players (including myself) is that the new story is being given to us in drips and drabs, so slowly that it's almost impossible to remember what the overall point is of our actions, ie. what we are doing or why. But if we assume the above posited business plan then it is clear that the current storyline is not being written and produced for us but rather for the players who are currently going through, say, Rise of the Hutt Cartel, still have to go through SOR, The Hunt, KOTFE, KOTET, Iokath and the whole traitor storyline and more before getting to the current story. By the time they get to this story it will be complete and can be played through without the long waiting time between “episodes”. Given this point of view, one can still argue that the new content is of poor quality, but the slow pace is now understandable. They don't really need to care about what current end-game players think. They are constantly expanding the storyline (so that new players will stay longer), but doing it on a shoestring budget with a skeleton crew thus the slow pace. A focus on attracting new players to come in and hang around until they run out of story, explains the focus on upgrading the background and character appearances. They don't want the game to look too “old” to new players. It further makes sense that they would put in the energy to expand to MACs and other platforms. It also explains the complaints regarding PVP, GSF and any other endgame or secondary (to the story) content. Those players just don't matter anymore. The game is now about getting new players, hooking them on the story, having enough story to keep them playing for a few years, then letting them drift away to be replaced by the next generation of SWTOR fans. Remember; Disney will re-release something like Bambi for a year or two then lock it up in the vault for five years until a new generation of kids is ready to see it. If I'm right, then we should soon see a major marketing push aimed at bringing in new players. Time will tell. “It does have a way of doing so”.
That's a fair assessment of what's going on, which is sad. I understand completely that you have to continue to get fresh blood in an older game. However, they need to find a balance of trying to (as hard as it might be) appease the vets and give to the new player. I don't fault them for their moves, and I appreciate what they are doing when it comes to updating the game, I just fear that they are too focused on the new player and completely ignoring their loyal fan base.
If this is the case it's a terrible idea. MMOs are a dieing breed if the engine remains the same imo. You will never get a big enough new player base to replace the old if the overall look can't compete with the new games dropped every year. SWTOR got a boost because of old players returning because there aren't any new games they can get into,(I'd say the newer player base return are people over 29) in another 10 years your new player base will be less then the new player base this year and without diehards getting there friends and kids involved it won't last. If you want a new player base to constantly replace the old either upgrade the engine with the ability to transfer over your characters or build a brand new story with the new engine in a other time period
This is 100% the strategy and has been for awhile. This is also the strategy that games like ESO use. The only game I can think of that bets big on maintaining a huge crop of end game players is WoW.
I'm sick of it! It's time to fix swotor. Bring back late 6.0 gearing! Make everything soloable so I can...er we can do all the operation stories, flashpoint stories, macrobinocular, and seeker droid quests without tracking down groups. Embrace the solo aspect of this game.
The budget of this company is limited because there are few people playing and spending money. They could revive the community if they eliminate several restrictions such as pvp, credit cap, lvl story cap, equipment cap, this would make more people play the game and be tempted to spend money
Thats why I love MMO games because there's so many different parts to the game, you have PvP you have group content you have story line you have a community of players that love playing the game. For me I use to only PvP and work on my gear and love it, I didn't care about story content. As I gotten older I now more enjoy the story content then PvP but I still like to watch PvP matches and have my fav players and support them. In SWTOR the Dev team really have no idea on how to do this and its way out of there hands to fix or change this game. What it seems like to me and this is my opinion that the Dev team are so afraid and scared to make any type of change to the mechanics of the game that they only focus on existing structure and edit features to the game however this is causing huge problems because the more they add/edit to the game the more bugs are entered and are not being fix. The writers I feel the same way, they just don't have the confidence to create a new story that's not about Malgus and Mandalorian. The game feels frozen with tons of bugs nothing feels fresh or new. Yes the game looks different but the soul of the game is frozen. Again I look at WoW the game isn't the same from its following expansions its different and the important part it's FUN to play.
SWTOR...I'm glad the game still exists, and I still pay for the sub, but it has been disappointing for some time. I used to be a huge PvPer...I lost interest in PvP 5 years ago with the issues and the ridiculous "fixes" they came up with. The class stories were so immersive, as was KOTFE and KOTET, but the stories the past few years... not good. I completely get financial reality, and that the Dev resources are not robust, but as is being said in this video, the COMMUNITY that truly loves the game is willing to do what we can to keep things going and to improve things. Censorship is nothing but an admission that there are problems they aren't willing to fix, or at least that's the message we get, intended or unintended.
I agree with everything said in the video and the comments. Broadsword's communication is horrible and silencing the players opinion doesn't look good. However, with the amount of developers working on this game, it is a miracle that we get any updates at all. I like the direction they're headed in, it's just that every change has been poorly executed. Broadsword doesn't have houndreds or even thousands of developers working on this game, and they've been thrown a sinking ship by Bioware to save and fix. Again, I like the direction they're taking with some of the changes (the character/world modernization is great in my opinion and much needed). I really hope they listen to the community more in 2025 because this game still has so much potential. As a mostly PvE player myself, I agree that the endgame is a bit boring, but the dynamic encounters patch was a positive surprise for me, I feel like that could be expanded upon. I am not a PvP player, but I understand the concerns there as well. We, the players, need to be more patient and the developers need to be more responsive.
Swtor used to be my most favorite game of all time, I recently tried to get back into it after 4 plus years and ended up unistalling it in less than a day. I haven't picked it back up since
As someone who is thinking to sub to the game and play it for the first time, is it worth it? And could you tell me in short the biggest problems with the game?
I say yes, for the full experience of the game. As for a cliff notes version: Short story content and a long wait for new story updates. Lack of PvE end game, dwindling PvP community.
I think they have a plan we're just not a part of it. Just based on the Character Modernization and some of the other updates where they say they will not walk back. Whatever changes are happening or are coming were already laid out for those in charge. Whatever path they are on they can no longer step back from. I think it's hit the take it or leave it point. This December I have left it. I l love the idea of the new mount I even love the look of the new decoration set. My characters appearance are a bottom line for me though. I took the money I'd normally spend on sub and CC and picked up the latest GW2 expansion and some single player games.
You know what dramastic move would be awesome Since their team is small Have all production stop....Bring every team together and bring em all to an auditorium or conference room. Make an account and level each class to 80 and max out their gear, then have it do all elements of the game --- Streaming the whole journey Each day have a different department play the character as they go. No curated test lab, but playing the game with the people they are making it for..... (But thats the idea i want to change thats obvious they have) Get them to start making a game they would want to play instead of trying to hit criterias I have more to this plan but dont want to blow this up too much God i wish i was the Game director...
Deleting posts isn't that are violation of the 1st ammendment of the constitution?, freedom of Speech.. I have been playing since a few months after launch but I think I'm coming to the end of my journey with SWTOR. The content they give us is annoying and doesn't make sense because no matter if you're Republic or empire it's the same story. I think the only way to save the game is going back to making Class stories
I dont like the baking ,date nights, and some of the other little things like that. The story needs to get back to the beginning of swtor. They absolutely killed sales on the gtn. The cartel market is just about ridiculous at this point. Ive been playing since beta, i have 64 toons. The legacy bound items are filling up all the space i have for storage, expanding the storage would be nice. I remember a time when loot drops meant something. Credit cap needs removed, and im a sub.
Both disgusting (the blocking part) and irrational behavior: the game is small these days and alienating the handful of loyal community remaining, there is only 1 question i would ask them: Do you want to keep your jobs? Because what do you think it will happen with a game when the population is not worth keeping it running anymore?
Ive had posts removed just for talking about conquest and beneficial changes some things could bring for guilds. In a constructive non attacking way as we do have a large community on starforge so we have alot of experience in managing large communities and large guilds. However it all gets removed. I gave up on constructive critisism along time ago.
I feel like their AI probably uses the words, change and add as words of offense so if your sentences excluded those somehow while still making the same request, oh and request don't use that word... Or please or beg or idea, maybe then the post will remain long enough for the lazy manager to read it for themselves. That said If they don't use AI they probably just delete posts rapidly and randomly to keep the server for the forums cool and not exploding. So if everyone had the same opinion, silenced themselves on the forum and let ONE person speak for all, that might work...Manager would have no reason to delete the message.
Look, it's Christmas tomorrow (as of the time I'm posting this), and I will have more on the entire aspect of this video, however, I did want to make a comment and try to get an understanding here. I get it, most "content creators" are going to side with the player base, as the player base drives the views of their channel, ergo you can't criticize the player base too harshly (even if they shoulder some of the fault), because they will turn on you in a heart beat. That's how business works. However, the biggest thing I honestly don't understand is this. Why should a player who claims they have been censored/had their comment deleted for violating terms of service, automatically be given the benefit of the doubt that they in fact did not violate terms of service?? Like I see all of these players who claim their comments were deleted for "politely" criticizing the devs, however they can NEVER demonstrate what they said did NOT actually violate terms of service. The burden of proof falls on the player making the claim to show they did not violate ToS. Case in point, I went back and watched your video titled this has to stop, and paused it where you show the screenshot of the "offense" the player made. They and I also had a discussion about this in the comment section. Go stop the video at the 2:06 mark, you'll see an arrow pointing down and next to it the word Quote. Clearly there is more there that the player chose not to divulge to you when they sent you that screenshot. And to be clear, I've said this before and I'll say it again, even if I disagree when I get something removed whether it be from the forums or a youtube channel (it happened once to me on your channel), I defer to the "host". But I digress. Breaking what is shown down even further: Yes, I agreed then and do still agree it's a stretch to assume that this is a direct attack on a player/the player base/or the staff team, however this can be viewed as a taunting mechanism which is in fact a violation of terms of service. There was no reason to mention the term midbies, which in this day and age could actually have a negative association with it. Remember the devs have made this crystal clear, the forums are a separate entity from being in the game itself. Not to mention if this comment (the player never confirmed it wasn't) was in response to another player then the comment itself takes on a different voice, thus could be viewed as directly attacking a player. As a hypothetical example Player: Hey, I really like these changes that you're making it seems like the PVP is getting better and the classes are getting better balance. This players comment as a reply: It took them 2 years where they completely ignored the PVP community complaining about this and we're praising them for this now... No actual PvP content, just a removal of something in midbies and a revert back to a setting that was already in game. Context matters and if the hypothetical I used is anywhere close to what played out the player did in fact violate ToS. Again you can argue whether it's fair and whether people need thicker skins but based on the current rules, it would be ToS. Which comes back to the question I asked, and I'll pose again as I end this conversation Why should I as a player automatically give benefit of the doubt to the players who claim they offer constructive feedback and get banned for no reason, when they can't demonstrate what they actually said. Clearly they would "alter" what they said, or ignore certain context IF they view providing the full context would make them look bad.
i think they hyped us up for legacy of the sith, everyone was expecting a kotet style storyline again, then they give us 45 minutes of crappy content, and then we wait again for the next storyline. it will not be the same. we need another kotet style story.
I'm a founder beta tester and played this years ago.Tried it last week after a long break and I'm not resubbing.15 quid for a sub hell no,maybe if it was 5 yup ok.The ftp model is horrible too.Sorry but it gets a thumbs down.
What the hell is going on. Been a subscriber since the game first launched, man. That ends now. The fuck are they thinking alienating the fans like this?
I've been playing this game on and off for like 7-8 years, i love the game but I think the game was so much better then. I remenber when you actually had to do every quest on the planet to level up ,which at least for me was fun, it felt rewarding to do them now I just do the main quest and some heroics and still end up lvls ahead of the planet level , or actually having to look for a group of randoms to do heroics with. The game now is just a single player story game with some randoms in the background. And they take way too long to release any actual story content. This game has been out for 13 years and it had like what? 4 or 5 expansions that aside from kotet and kotfe take like 3 hours each Everything now is just way too simplified and it's not like these changes even brought that many players to the game if any, so instead of making the game more simple and less fun, they should have focused on what made swtor great, the story and try to release new actual good content consistently.

Merry Christmas BoomyNation
@Dread_Master_Cyberblade Merry Christmas to you, my friend!
as a preferred player the credit cap is ridiculous at this point
given in the games economy with the most sort out stuff is 10mil+? yea a credit cap is outrageous
But you're right, if you wanna get hundreds of millions, you need to do a ton of other stuff.
especially with the crazy inflation lol
@dok7713 truth!
Can we all agree that Heta Kol isn't a compelling adversary????
who? Oh yeah...that person
100%
I said this from the moment she appeared two years ago...alas I am simple nobody who can't get into the minds of tens of thousands of people. But yes, Heta Kol has been the worst written and developed antagonist in this entire game. A reflection the drop in quality of the game and story overall.
The fact that whole storyline is still going on is mind numbing lol.. This drip feeding of content has to stop.
That's true. We still hold out hope, but it does seem bleak right now.
Hi, add early SWTOR pvp classic with more content and I will come back in an instant.
I canceled my subscription at this stage I can’t justify spending money on this game anymore the expansions aren’t worth looking forward to and I dread every update.
Welcome my friend. I cancelled in January this year. Will never come back at this point.
Bye no one wants your toxic bs anyway
Unfortunately all good this must come to an end
Warframe lmfao pay to win shit hole
I'll never buy a single thing from the cash shop
Yes Boomy! 🎉
Create more partnerships with “new influencers/streamers”, when more popular the game becomes, then more money
Fact is, SWTOR has so much potencial.
Couldn't agree more! Merry Christmas to you and yours!
Merry Christmas
SWTOR is already dead - from the moment it was given to Broadsword.
Lol, yep so muck potential squandered by like 4 gear reworks, terrible expansions and terrible planning. This game is cooked.
@@riffmagos I think sooner like when 4.0 came out and they started abandoning the mmo part and been doing less content (of any type) over time.
Great video Boomy! Thanks for asking me to participate.
😊 you, my old friend, for offering your reasoned voice.
Why tf did they put clone wars armor in Old Republic era?
Is a feature
This could be achieved by
1.devs listening to the players putting aside their egos
2. To make this process more easy, the community can easily make a document or a roadmap, marking all the main problems, and the solutions the community has come up with. If they are feasible to code and implement,it would make everyone happy
Maybe this story would have worked out pre sor,but after witnessing it the players just want higher and more adventure, not downgrading the power of their characters they've built up till now
Amen!
@@BoomyNation Amen brother
Double amen to you, brother!
It's the fact people are being silenced for trying make the game better.
Yep
I canceled my subscription some time ago when it was clear where this game was going. It's a pity because I loved the Old Republic.
This. Goddamn. Nailed it.
Can you imagine that they just REMOVED an entire game mode from the game? We got banned from twitch chat for saying "Bring ranked back".
I don't know what we need to do to actually get what we want and what we HAD but this video is surely a start.
Thank you, and I couldn't agree more. If they remove a major part of the game, they need to be prepared for the community to always ask about it.
I feel it'll kinda get back to normal, bit how I'm thinking of it right now is like when your job brings in a new manager and they try to shake things up and make changes cuz they're the new manager and eventually they give up or get fired
Thats a good point
As a freeplayer, i can sense the hatred from broadsword toward us.
I wouldn't say hated, but I would say ignored and taken for granted.
swtor has a direct link to lucasfilm and lucasfilm allows the game to exist. the game has so much potential but the devs have too much ego. it's sad to see it keep being squandered.
SWTOR has been done for years lol...
I think that was determined after the pathetic Legacy of the Sith expansion. After that point it was all over.
No worries, my friend! Merry Christmas to you as well!
Great Video Boomy,
I personally feel they made a MASSIVE mistake in scrapping the class stories, it is what made SWTOR unique when it first launched and made you want to make another toon where as now for story I only have to play it once on rep and once on imp and that’s it …
I agree with you massively that they need to listen to the community as any business should listen to their customers …
I just want to mention I also agree more than wholeheartedly with Birdface Gaming please give us chair deco’s we can actually sit on 😂😂😂 and decos we can actually interact with for RP reasons 😂😂😂
Pretty much
@@BoomyNation I recently stopped playing due to burn out.
Thank you, my friend! Merry Christmas to you and yours!
@@BoomyNation ❤
the swtor livestreams are fake. they never interact with the community, it is as if it was pre recorded.
That wouldn't surprise me. You can tell with how they interact with each other and the chat. They dont.
The voice of the people!
i still miss the the world and my toons, but the endgame is holding me back.
it is still worth playing at least once for the stories and companions. its a bad mmo, but one of the best rpgs.
The old stories are what really keep it going.
The leaders and the writers need to go. Sorry not sorry. They should be on their knees thanking us that make content or are large guild GM's that keep communities in-game rolling. They should be reaching out to us for feedback.
Keep it up boomy!! Birdface is right on
Im sorry you still honestly believe this game can be saved.
That's crazy!
@@BoomyNation I have been a big fan of your channel and I know I may seem like a downer in my comments in the comment sections. But I don't want people to mistake my negativity with facts. I am only preaching what others have been saying :3
I'm amazed some of you still have hope for this game. I dipped after the latest "expansion" and havn't looked back
I haven't played SWTOR in so long and I miss it. Would love to go back to the Galaxy, have pvp matches that feel grand in scale and fun events.
Guys. On this Christmas Eve, download Knights of the Old Republic. The greatest Star Wars game ever made. You'll not be disappointed.
Thanks for posting the video! I think it's tough to attack people doing their job, especially to call them out by name. That was tough to listen to.

Dwarf Beard, Merry Christmas ReplaceTheWriters! is all I can say over and over again, we need writers who do more then watch the Mandalorian show and have a love for the Republic, the Empire, and epic battle between light and dark!
The next year will decide lots of things.
I couldn't agree more. It will be very telling.
What a jolly video title. Merry xmas :D
On the subject of the story changes that are needed, I definitely believe separating things out so that each class has its own story is necessary
I've thought of how that would work, I just don't know how to share that idea because I don't really operate in forums
The legacy system could find some real use too
You can always email me, and then I can structure it in a video.
@@BoomyNation I just sent an email with the broad strokes of my thoughts
@DamienTenebrous awesome
I shall not relent.
Keep up the great work Boomy! We appreciate what you are doing!
I invested so much time into this game, and it saddens me to see the state of it because of arrogant devs/community managers and greedy execs. I really want this game to succeed, but as it is now, I cannot stand behind subbing. If it takes a drastic turn for the better, then I might be persuaded to return.
Hell yeah! Let's go!!!
They need to add Kashyyyk, Pazaak, AND the option to speak through chat bubbles.
Yeah I have been waiting for Kashyyyk ever since they added Yavin 4
@@Hedrox97 A treehouse stronghold would be soooo awesome. Also to be able to explore the shadowlands with a pvp zone would be sick as well.
@mandawarian that would be cool.
This game was fun for me and my son, but that was long ago. We are waiting for the Dune MMO. Hopefully it will be as fun as SWTOR used to be.
Credit cap is the most irritating thing as a pref player.
It will be all that's left.
agree 100% but they are prolly gonna ban you - just sayin
Merry Christmas all. Thanks for the video Boomy. It is impossible to agree with you more. I have my own views and opinions but I would just get censored, I lack the diplomacy at this point.
New story lines with better options would be great. Killing a companion )torrian or vette) was stupid. You literally command the alliance in the middle of the war, and using your forces isn't an option, riddiculous.
Yeah, once they started giving us choices like that, they wrote themselves into a the corner, and the story just took a nose dive.
They messed up bad with that choice. It was stupid and lazy writing imo. In general this is when the game started struggling.
Yep
jackie and the older ones need to be fired.
More communication with the player base would be good but it needs to be 2 way, not the 1 way limited info drops we currently get (still better than before though).
it's good to see veteran's and content creators speaking out, but if community manager's keep's deleting people's question on forums and censoring them and the dev's don't listen this conversation won't move forward.
a good approach for me is compile a short priority list of both what the dev's wanna do with the game and a list of what player's want in the game which is only three thing's:
*Great Story Content
*PVP
*Dailies
Set a date for a sit down between the dev's and content creators and some veteran's of the game to negotiate or a comprise.
Heck even the Old Lotro game has a new expansion (Legacy of Morgoth)
Don't let your community loose faith in you swtor Dev's becasue if that happen's well it's bye bye swtor.
I believe you summed that up very well!
Here, here !!! Broad1Sword LISTEN up !!!!
So major problems now are:
BAD community menagement with silence of constructive critiscizm;
BAD information flow on current status of further story updates;
LACK of information about how in-game Cartel Coins store will be utilized in future;
ACCUSING players of internal team problems and projecting on them responsibility for purchasing even more items for cash.
That's true, it's like putting fingers in your ears and pretending you don't hear people yelling at you.
Merry Christmas
Swtor used to be my most favorite game of all time, I recently tried to get back into it after 4 plus years and ended up unistalling it in less than a day. I haven't picked it back up since
Keep cooking boomy!
its bs how its the fricken epople behind the devs. with thier agenda,
As someone who is thinking to sub to the game and play it for the first time, is it worth it?
You know what dramastic move would be awesome
Since their team is small
Have all production stop....Bring every team together and bring em all to an auditorium or conference room.
Make an account and level each class to 80 and max out their gear, then have it do all elements of the game --- Streaming the whole journey
Each day have a different department play the character as they go.
No curated test lab, but playing the game with the people they are making it for.....
(But thats the idea i want to change thats obvious they have)
Get them to start making a game they would want to play instead of trying to hit criterias
I have more to this plan but dont want to blow this up too much
God i wish i was the Game director...
I would love to see some new class stories.
“Violation of the first amendment of the constitution”
Kill me.
Every since Star Wars got bought by Disney I knew this be the end “game” for the fragment of remains of Star Wars
All great points!
Bring back Star Wars Galaxies.
Breaking what is shown down even further:
Yes, I agreed then and do still agree it's a stretch to assume that this is a direct attack on a player/the player base/or the staff team, however this can be viewed as a taunting mechanism which is in fact a violation of terms of service.
As a hypothetical example
Player: Hey, I really like these changes that you're making it seems like the PVP is getting better and the classes are getting better balance.
Which comes back to the question I asked, and I'll pose again as I end this conversation
Why should I as a player automatically give benefit of the doubt to the players who claim they offer constructive feedback and get banned for no reason, when they can't demonstrate what they actually said. Clearly they would "alter" what they said, or ignore certain context IF they view providing the full context would make them look bad.
Maybe it'll die and a private server will open before all of the crap that has been added.
i think they hyped us up for legacy of the sith, everyone was expecting a kotet style storyline again, then they give us 45 minutes of crappy content, and then we wait again for the next storyline. it will not be the same. we need another kotet style story.
Exactly this!
It's frustrating
4 or 5 expansions that aside from kotet and kotfe take like 3 hours each
Everything now is just way too simplified and it's not like these changes even brought that many players to the game if any, so instead of making the game more simple and less fun, they should have focused on what made swtor great, the story and try to release new actual good content consistently.
