You've inspired me to start my beautiful lawn journey this coming spring! Quick question. I don't have a sprinkler system installed in my yard. Do you have any recommendations for above ground sprinkler system?
@maisonwithani rainbird click & go. Made a video about it and I love the system. It's about 34 dollars and only requires a 1 time dig. Once it's in the ground and set, you don't have to move it again.
Definatly not mixed well enough, must have no clumps, took me a good while and my hands turned black from humichar lol Good job overall and you waited for some sprouts, only problem with rye is the lbs/1000 I pregerminated Monaco
@@TheALG The seeds and Melorganite have to be mixed in stages or layers. Let the pregerminated seeds drain for atleast a few hours outside to get as close to dry as you can. Put a layer of Mel in the cart then a layer of seed and mix it together. Repeat until both bags are empty and then mix together some more. The Mel will absorb what is left of the moisture in the seeds and they will blend together really well for spreading. When I did it, I actually let the mix set in the gorilla card covered with a plastic back overnight. Next day is spread like any other seed, you couldn't tell the difference. My mistake was not hitting it with some starter fert. Will do that on the spring process.
@@tmack8460 I made a huge mistake on one of my seedings, I forgot to swing the strainer to remove some water, soon as it hit the carrier I knew I screwed up, It would NOT spread lol
Everyone says to keep the seed moist but not wet so you don't rot the seed. Then they go and soak the seed in water for 5 days? I've never tried, so I can't speak to whether it's good or bad. I have a few bare spots in my yard, I think I'm going to try with 1/2lb of seed and see how it goes. Just to say, I've tried. But keeping things as simple as possible is the only real tried and true method.
Hello, is your irrigation season ended? I noticed that your account content is great, and I would like to invite you to try our ImoLaza smart irrigation controller. Are you interested?
People stop the Pre-germinating crap. Just sow seed and give it a top dressing of top soil so there is seed to soil contact, then water water water water......
Yeah, I don't get the point. It's also another theory that contradicts basic seeding practices. We're always told, "the seed needs to be moist, but not wet, or you will suffocate or rot the seed". So yeah, let's soak the seed in water for 5 straight days. The more I follow the online lawn community, the more I realize that most techniques passed around dont have much of a leg to stand on regarding what the best methods are. Keep it simple. Prep the ground, seed, rake it, and water as much as possible.

How much lawn do you have to water?
@@TheALG about 4000 sqft

I just do the normal way, ill use a little more water over having spreading issues and getting the clumping.

Will definitely try again in the future and try to mix better

@tmack8460 Thanks for sharing. The first time doing something is always the hardest, but you learn and improve.

I did the pregerminating and it never sprouted. Won't do that again. What a pain !
Sorry to hear but thanks for sharing. I am on the fence about it but only tried it once.

Pre germination is silly, it’s not faster. It takes 3 days in a bucket or 3 days on the lawn
Maybe if it’s annual grass
Not silly for KBG my guy
