  • Feeling overwhelmed with a new diagnosis of diabetes in pregnancy? You’re not alone. We give you so much information when you are seen for diabetic education, it’s hard to make sense of everything. That’s why in our office, we schedule a one-week follow-up visit. Today, we are talking about some of the most common questions that my patients ask after the first week.
    Have a wonderful week!

Good information. I got frustrated recently. So different and confusing results I get. Watermelon which in the “no” list usually doesn’t affect my sugar, but I tried few kinds of watermelons, and one kind gave me really bad sugar of 7.2 mml. So same food can be different from type to type. Also all bread gives me worse sugar than candies 🍭. 5.2 mml after sweets and 7 mml after bread. Also very confusing when food in hour gives good result around 5 mml in the evening, but in the morning you see fasting 5.3 mml. So basically it hits you in the night? And one more thing, which wasn’t obvious to me: hands should be washed with soap and dried every time before puncture. Sugar from food left on the fingers will give very wrong results.
