I was diagnosed with GD and gave birth to a healthy baby boy at 39wks , after 2 hour labour. Thank you to the Antenatal care from my local hospital.

I want to know why pregnant people have to drink the glucose to diagnose this but non pregnant people don't?
I eat really healthy, all whole wheat and would never eat as much sugar as what's in that drink. I barely didn't pass the glucose test so now I have this label attached to me forever. I'm monitoring my blood sugar at home and it's normal, even after eating dessert. Seems like a doubled standard to make women drink the glucose.

I wonder too. I ate piece of cake and sugar was perfect in hour. But I am pretty sure I won’t pass glucose test. But I am also sure I won’t drink glucose in real life. Very confusing standards also between countries. What is normal in uk is automatically diabetes in my country. Many questions 0 answers.

One thing I have realised is they lower the glucose theshold for pregnant people but not for non pregnant people. For my NHS trust the fasting level is 5.1mmol+ to be diagnosed but for non pregnant people its 5.6mmol. NICE guidelines suggest 5.6mmol + but the NHS doesnt follow it. I have asked midwives why but cannot get a straight answer.
