I work at a Target and they don’t even sell single packs. They sell a box with 3 packs for $30.
That’s rough, makes the barrier to entry even harder
I buy a lot of the singles out of New sets because if I don't try stupid decks like ragnaraika I'm too bored to play a stale 4 month format, and I'll definitely just quit. That being said, I agree with your ideas for the reprints and the core sets being more impact full for sure. Good vid.
Same, other than branded I’m always looking for something new, unfortunately as long as stuff like snake eye exist trying new stuff is pointless sadly & appreciate that! 😎
I really like the Japanese ultimate rares in the RC sets. I managed to buy a playset of basically every card in the set for the same amount of € as it would cost me to buy 2... TWO RC02 boxes.
That is just insane to me. Every box I have opened the past year was a huge regret for me. Not gonna do it again.
Another thing I'm never doing again is building new archetypes that have 20€/piece cards in them that you need playsets of.
They'll get reprinted eventually, and in the meantime I can just play those on a sim and play my many other decks at locals. Not like we get any major events anyways here in the EU.
Gonna sell my SP Little Knight soon as well.
EDIT: For reference, 170€ is the price of a single box here because tax and whatever at my locals. (I know you can get it for cheaper online.)
I bought a playset of almost every card in the set in ultimate rare for roughly 270€, still missing some.
How much of these would I get from a box, or two, or a case? ... Sure I could maybe pull a couple good QCRs and break even after selling, still I'd have to buy everything I want on the secondary market afterwards.
Why would I have to be a part-time vendor / trader just to justify buying boosters filled with garbage?
Yea and the collector rare in Japan is a bit nicer too. No I’m with you all the way. We have to make our own niche in the game and enjoy that otherwise we’d all quit.

For a new player I think yes is worth It, rarity collection 1 a long with duel devastator is the best we ever had to get into the game that actually offers value for a new player, but this kind of products are not common as most product is bad and not worth it. You end up with a bunch of crap or cards that you cant use, what I hate the most is that i cant easely tarde anymore or sell the cards I pull from product so why spend the time chasing paper cards when I can go digital.

These sets are also really nice for old format staples at high rarity. I’m building a Dino rabbit 8 deck cube. I got a ton of cards I wanted for the pod from this set for pretty cheap.
That’s a good point, I don’t fully agree that this is a bad set, my fear is that since they didn’t put enough chase cards that are expensive in it it’s not gonna sell well and they’re gonna stop making it like they have other sets sadly

I never bought packs when I used to play, only SE or Tins because they had good promos.
If you aren't interested in one of those archetypes, then there's almost no reason to buy LEDE or INFO.

RC2 wouldn't have been so dire if they hadn't reduced the quality AND jacked up the price. One or the other, I think the set would have still sold fine.

I just buy what I need I haven't opened a pack in years, I make up my own decks and optimize them over months, and usually it's cheaper, and I'm playing unknown strategies, so that gives me an advantage

I'm trying to get into the game and the state of the game seems like a mess lol
Start with legacy of the duelist link evolution if you really want to get into it and see how you like it. Starting with a single player video game adaptation is better than buying the cards irl only to then realize, that it isn't for you.
If you’re trying to get into it, it’s a really good time funny enough, they’ve reprinted a lot of cards and so getting into the bare bones is easy since the staples are cheap. My complaints here and some of my other videos are basically about how Konami shoots themselves in the foot, the game is still very fun overall. It’s like when you own a car you see all the problems and they piss you off but your friend just sees a nice car that drives and is a solid ride overall lol
@@sephnickel9516 I'm actually starting with World Championship 2009. I'm just overwhelmed with all the new summoning mechanics (thankfully pendulum isn't too prevalent, XYZ is fine but I really dislike link summons) plus the level of disruption - synchros were brand new last time I played lol
I may just stick to retro formats, the more I familiarize myself with the current game the more I feel like it's changed dramatically. Change is fine and inevitable, but I don't really recognize it very well at the moment. I'll stick with it for a bit but the on-boarding experience to the 2024 rules and meta is kind of ridiculous
@@idontwantahandlewhymustidothis I stopped after pendulums got introduced and also had a hard time getting back into the game but I managed. I'm sure you can too if you really want to but we can't deny that the game got unnecessarily complicated and powercrept to hell and back.
