Ok I’ve another tip for you, I’ve pretty much got the same set as you, but what you need to do on your PC is find and delete and files that contain _DE _FR _IT … these are just euro language duplicates, so delete them & it should bring even the most popular letters within the limit. Plus it’s good to declutter.
I only had an issue with the S folder but easily fixed if u just split the S folder in 2. Folder limits are 256 files. And yes if u strip out de it and ntsc its only really the S folder thats affected
@@baulty - I had the same issue with my NES and SNES Classic systems...LOTS of game titles start with "S" on those, "Super" this and "Super" that, "Star" or "Space" something-or-other, "Street" yada yada, etc.
Tested out a wireless Xbox 360 controller and a cheap PC receiver on the A500 mini and it works! The analogue sticks don't work in the menu but do in-game, the D-pad works all the time and all the buttons are correctly mapped by default. Xbox one (non bluetooth) controller does not work via USB cable though.
This is AWESOME news. Can you point e to the cheap receiver? Thanks!!! I wish I could get the Sega Saturn or Genesis USB controller working, great D-pads.
Great vid, thanks, nice to hear a Scottish accent now that I live in England! ;) One tip I would add is that I've had issues with the A500 mini using USB extension cables, they seem to draw too much power and prevent USB sticks working properly. The online manual does suggest using a powered USB hub. I've yet to try my extension cables with my USB hub but after removing them from the actual A500 mini I no longer had issues with my USB sticks working. I'll report back when I try the USB extensions in my USB hub to confirm if they work OK or not. The A500 mini is as fussy as a Gotek drive when it comes to compatibility, from my own experience, I've got a Blue Integral USB drive like yours but 4GB, a 16GB Kingston retractable black drive & a 32GB White & red Kingston dataTraveler G4 and they all work OK with the A500 Mini. Be interested to know which wireless controllers work with the A500 mini, am keen on one for PC, Evercade and A500 mini and ideally have original Amiga/Megadrive connection as well.
@@CrazyBurger I can confirm that USB extension cables work without problems using a powered USB hub. Gonna try out a wireless Xbox 360 controller today. Now just need to fix the dodgy sound & flashing screens in Beneath a Steel Sky CD32 version!
At least you confirmed that not every USB Stick works. I have mine formatted and It's still not recognised by the A500 mini. Next week I will have another stick to try out.

But if I add Folders like you did (A,B,C..) in that folder the A500 does not show these. Would you be able to add a screenshot of your Folderstructure? ahhh thats where i was going wrong!, i jammed 400 games into one file then couldnt work out why i was missing a load of them!, thanks for that I will split them down into some smaller folders.

I've added Lemmings on my usb stick and I got it working on my mini. But how can you play this with 2 players simultaneously? I have tried every set-up, but I can't get the second mouse to work properly. Is it anyhow possible??
I'm not sure.. its a known problem. You can play worms with 2 mouse but not Lemmings. Could be an issue within the whdload files. I'll need to have another look at this one
Great video. Some games were weird about which port it would accept an input from to push through the opening title cards. Looking forward to someone adding Football Masters to WHD or for an ADF firmware update. Loving it so far. Wish it had been a joystick rather than a pad for kick off 2 but the pad is better for many games.
I played Panza kickboxing on It yesterday and it prompts for the disc but just progresses in a few seconds. So you don't need to do anything. Weirdly the virtual keyboard wouldn't come up on Panza though.
Its a Blue byte game. I have the same problem with History Line. We had some conversation (few posts above) with author of this video. Maybe its the same problem.

It will work but be careful to make a back up because it is likely to corrupt that size disc. I had issues with corruption with anything above 8gb just as a warning. It actually broke one of my USB drives which now states it is write protected when it's not.
Honestly I'm not sure.. I did just plug in an 8bitdo controller and it worked instantly without any button mapping needed. Its going to differ depending on the product. Apologies I don't have one to test.
The entire library won’t touch the sides of a 32GB stick so I keep the full library in its own folder and cherry pick the good stuff into a favourites folder.
It's taken me a while to get the WHDLoad side to work (and many rewatches of Crazy Burger's videos!). It's all good now, but some of the games to run fast. Crazy Burger had an issue with 'Dragon Ninja' and I found 'Total Recall' went much faster than the original (and how it plays on emulation software). Does anyone know how to slow the speed down on downloaded games?
I don't know if I read right or saw this but on this Amiga 500 mini there basic a way to write some programming know it was on the other recto console Computer like this so is it there or will it be on the Max version coming up sometime soon?

I was having a nightmare trying to get it to work then realised my pc was defaulting .LHD zip files as WINRAR not WINZIP, deleted WINRAR and downloaded free version of WINZIP and voila games starting working for me.
I really got a problem getting my games with whdload to run. I tried about 10 games so far but everytime when it tries to load it says "setpatch not found" and the monitor stays black. I already installed the newer Version of whdload from the retrogames Homepage. Still doesn't work
I know I've seen that, basically we need some lines of code added to help over ride this. There are temporary fixes but ideally we will need a firmware update to sort this permanently. Hopefully this will come later this week.
@@luckyday3249 OK.. I've just tried them all.. and they are all fine. I suspect you've got your .lha files from whdload.de. the files on here cannot be used. Get them from whdload.com.
Ive changed the options and still can't get the great soundtrack on this game, originally the half meg making it to 1 full meg gave music this machine goes up to 10meg in the settings and still no music for this game ?
I discovered that file limitation when i was looking for Star Wars Arcade. Easy fix though just to split up anything where the file size is over about 310MB on average seemed to work for me. There will probably be outliers to this but so far i don't seem to be missing any now. It was only a couple of files such as S and T i think that went over anyway in my collection. Is there a way to slow down games that are running too fast? . I never thought i would hear myself say that about an A500 lol. Perhaps we should notify them to add this option in a firmware update? Overall i am happy with my purchase too but i do need to track down a USB hub in order to use a USB keyboard which i also need to track down as my PC ones are all the plug in type with lighted keys which is too much mucking about.
Yes game speeds are a real issue ATM. Played Wings which looked amazing but plays way too fast. The missions are impossible. Playing SWOS and that also seemed like lightning compared to how I remember it. Unplayable sadly.

I don't have a solution, but I've seen the same issue myself with Hard Drivin'. I only put the game on to test the speed, as it was too slow on a real A500, but played really well on my Amiga 4000 (same with Zeewolf). I'm still getting my head around remapping the controller.
I have that same crap USB hub, I think that mine may have come with one of those "true blue mini" hacking sticks that were discontinued a while back because the dude who made them got into some legal trouble over it...
@@angelheart7643 - I have the one for the Genesis Mini, but you can't find the drivers for it anymore so it's useless...it's also obsolete because I just use Hakchi on mine now, what a pointless thing. As for my PS Classic, I've always just used Bleemsync/Project Eris on mine...also you can use an OTG adapter on the PS Classic now, which looks WAY better.
great video thanks for uploading. Can I ask you, I have a problem with saving my favourite game Faerytale. I go home and the game stays in the top right corner on the saved games page? (usually they move to a place above the floppy disk image)?
Mmm sounds a bit confusing.. the game at the top right of the screen is the current game you are playing. So not technically saved. To actually save it, go to home, press down and A to save.
@@CrazyBurger Yes, other games save fine, this one just floats! I've actually had success having two copies of the game on the usb, and its saved strangely!
Where did you get Ruff n Tumble from cause the one on whdownload for some reason it loads World 2 first and not World 1 it same version as the one you have EDIT: weirdly enough world 1 is now working lol not sure why it was skipping a level
@@Calculon1712 Tested out Ruff n Tumble myself yesterday and it skipped a level too! Will try it again and see if it does the same or resolves like you. BTW I managed to get almost all the games working by finding different Whdload files just after Lemmings 2 The Tribes, hyped to get that working! :)
I had this problem when I first got the A500 Mini as well and it was down to me using USB extension cables as the mini doesn't have a lot of power to cope with these and a USB stick. I'm now using a powered USB hub and all works fine. You may want to check you haven't got anything plugged in that is drawing too much power out of the A500 and preventing the USB stick from working? Otherwise maybe an incompatible USB stick, kingston or sandisk seem to be reliable ones that the A500 likes.
Anyone worms ain't work on Amiga a500 it loads but doesn't seem to show the game properly after go through the menu comes up with a blue screen and white blob where the characters would be also my speed ball doesn't seem go past the character upgrade part either 😔 many thanks if anybody could help or advice ☺️ Additional information : I'm running my Amiga a500 mini on 60hz and with factory settings out the box
It shouldn't be the hz that is the issue as that would just affect frame rate i should think. I would try changing the blitter option to normal operation.
They are charging a lot of money for a product and leaving it to the community to solve their shortcomings. They damn well could have it working perfectly from the start, none of this is new, Amiga emulation isn't new, mini computers aren't new, they aren't even new to selling mini computers running emulation. I've already canceled my pre-order (US based so had to wait to May 30) and will wait for it to come down in price like the C64 did.
Emulation with Raspberry Pi 400 are superior. Pi 400 have better hardware, better price too and don't forget I can run all workbenchs SO versions and programs too. I can run too all Amiga models like 500, 600, 2000, 3000, 1200 and run too all adf or whdload games.
The preloaded games run instantly.. they don't run instantly on pi 400. The pi 400 emulation has issues here and there but as an Amiga emulator it's definitely one of the best out there.
@@CrazyBurger I don't agree with you. I have Pi 400 with workbench about 2 years old and run everything without problems... and btw to the noobs you have too pIMIGA 2 for Pi 400 with everything
Just found out that 1 of my fave games from the amiga (Walker ) doesn't work on the 500 mini, It needs keyboard as well as mouse to move your mech and to target enemies (I forgot that's how it was controlled). DISAPPOINTED!!
Jim power works flawlessly for me, unreal, try a different version, there are quite a few of them that are buggy, and wings works at the correct speed for me, maybe you have your system set to 60hz? Or maybe in the system settings for wings you have the cpu set to a faster one like the 68020?
I found out today after hearing that The Secret of Monkey Island does not work that it depends on which WHDload lha game file that you have, I downloaded this version and it all works OK - SecretOfMonkeyIsland_v3.5_1625.lha best not put a link in case its not allowed. So if you have a WHDFload game that does not work look around for different versions you maybe lucky.

Thanks.. as long as your games are in .lha format you should see them. You can have no more than 256 lines in each folder..

ive recently discovered that you can use a PS4 controller, i used this for sensible soccer and it works brilliant.

Do you know if a game prompts to load another disk if has two disks? Some even in LHA format have multiple disks.

King's Bounty is so slow 🐌
History Line needs custom 1 set.. this means we'd probably need to adjust the game file and add a few lines to help it play.

Well.. any USB plug should be ok. It works plugged into an xbox as well.

What games were you trying to play?
@@CrazyBurger North and South, Turrican 2, Giana Sisters, Moonstone and some others. All failed to load.
@@luckyday3249 OK.. I've just tried them all.. and they are all fine. I suspect you've got your .lha files from whdload.de. the files on here cannot be used. Get them from whdload.com.
Ive changed the options and still can't get the great soundtrack on this game, originally the half meg making it to 1 full meg gave music this machine goes up to 10meg in the settings and still no music for this game ?
I found when adding me own games the menu button doesn't load up the keyboard
Yeah I've noticed that on occasion. I've came out and started again or went to settings and back and somehow it worked?!
Have you tried a usb joystick on the mini? Is it easy to set up?
I dont have one unfortunately, so can't guarantee they will work.. but my usb mouse does
I tested the competition clone for the c64 mini, works but wasn’t able to change the buttons. Otherwise worked but has not that defined click feeling
I discovered that file limitation when i was looking for Star Wars Arcade. Easy fix though just to split up anything where the file size is over about 310MB on average seemed to work for me. There will probably be outliers to this but so far i don't seem to be missing any now. It was only a couple of files such as S and T i think that went over anyway in my collection. Is there a way to slow down games that are running too fast? . I never thought i would hear myself say that about an A500 lol. Perhaps we should notify them to add this option in a firmware update?
Overall i am happy with my purchase too but i do need to track down a USB hub in order to use a USB keyboard which i also need to track down as my PC ones are all the plug in type with lighted keys which is too much mucking about.
Yes game speeds are a real issue ATM. Played Wings which looked amazing but plays way too fast. The missions are impossible.
Playing SWOS and that also seemed like lightning compared to how I remember it. Unplayable sadly.

Iv downloaded “hard drivin” but can’t get the steering to work, even by mapping the game pad in the game settings, Any ideas ? Or have you tried it ?
I don't have a solution, but I've seen the same issue myself with Hard Drivin'. I only put the game on to test the speed, as it was too slow on a real A500, but played really well on my Amiga 4000 (same with Zeewolf). I'm still getting my head around remapping the controller.
Mmm nothing seems to help here at all. Steering only works with a mouse.. very odd.
I have that same crap USB hub, I think that mine may have come with one of those "true blue mini" hacking sticks that were discontinued a while back because the dude who made them got into some legal trouble over it...

@@angelheart7643 - I have the one for the Genesis Mini, but you can't find the drivers for it anymore so it's useless...it's also obsolete because I just use Hakchi on mine now, what a pointless thing. As for my PS Classic, I've always just used Bleemsync/Project Eris on mine...also you can use an OTG adapter on the PS Classic now, which looks WAY better.
great video thanks for uploading. Can I ask you, I have a problem with saving my favourite game Faerytale. I go home and the game stays in the top right corner on the saved games page? (usually they move to a place above the floppy disk image)?
Mmm sounds a bit confusing.. the game at the top right of the screen is the current game you are playing. So not technically saved. To actually save it, go to home, press down and A to save.
@@CrazyBurger Yes, other games save fine, this one just floats! I've actually had success having two copies of the game on the usb, and its saved strangely!

Where did you get Ruff n Tumble from cause the one on whdownload for some reason it loads World 2 first and not World 1 it same version as the one you have

@@Calculon1712 Tested out Ruff n Tumble myself yesterday and it skipped a level too! Will try it again and see if it does the same or resolves like you. BTW I managed to get almost all the games working by finding different Whdload files just after Lemmings 2 The Tribes, hyped to get that working! :)

No you need to unzip the contents of the whdload so that you see TheA500 at the top of the usb folder structure

Weirdly I can only get AGA games to load. Also the USB is only recognised half the time.
I had this problem when I first got the A500 Mini as well and it was down to me using USB extension cables as the mini doesn't have a lot of power to cope with these and a USB stick. I'm now using a powered USB hub and all works fine. You may want to check you haven't got anything plugged in that is drawing too much power out of the A500 and preventing the USB stick from working? Otherwise maybe an incompatible USB stick, kingston or sandisk seem to be reliable ones that the A500 likes.
Use an USB-Keyboard to start the games dude ;)

Anyone worms ain't work on Amiga a500 it loads but doesn't seem to show the game properly after go through the menu comes up with a blue screen and white blob where the characters would be also my speed ball doesn't seem go past the character upgrade part either 😔 many thanks if anybody could help or advice ☺️
Additional information : I'm running my Amiga a500 mini on 60hz and with factory settings out the box
It shouldn't be the hz that is the issue as that would just affect frame rate i should think. I would try changing the blitter option to normal operation.
They are going to allow adf files in a future firmware update. You can't expect everything to be perfect right from the start.
They are charging a lot of money for a product and leaving it to the community to solve their shortcomings. They damn well could have it working perfectly from the start, none of this is new, Amiga emulation isn't new, mini computers aren't new, they aren't even new to selling mini computers running emulation. I've already canceled my pre-order (US based so had to wait to May 30) and will wait for it to come down in price like the C64 did.
Emulation with Raspberry Pi 400 are superior. Pi 400 have better hardware, better price too and don't forget I can run all workbenchs SO versions and programs too. I can run too all Amiga models like 500, 600, 2000, 3000, 1200 and run too all adf or whdload games.
The preloaded games run instantly.. they don't run instantly on pi 400. The pi 400 emulation has issues here and there but as an Amiga emulator it's definitely one of the best out there.
@@CrazyBurger I don't agree with you. I have Pi 400 with workbench about 2 years old and run everything without problems... and btw to the noobs you have too pIMIGA 2 for Pi 400 with everything
Just found out that 1 of my fave games from the amiga (Walker ) doesn't work on the 500 mini, It needs keyboard as well as mouse to move your mech and to target enemies (I forgot that's how it was controlled). DISAPPOINTED!!
Nightmare.. it is possible to remap some controls to the actual mini controller.. or add a USB keyboard.. Still.. its a bit of a pain.
If you change the default to mouse.. you can then use the joypad.. though aiming is still using the mouse..
Yesterday I played Walker. Control...gamepad L/R is for moving, mouse for aiming.
I just dropped my games into the root folder of the usb stick (no sub folders) and they all show up fine.
Yes that works too.. but try adding 4000. They won't all show.

this box sucks, jim power lag, unreal: sound and graphics artifact, wings is at the wrong speed, and their settings are useless
Jim power works flawlessly for me, unreal, try a different version, there are quite a few of them that are buggy, and wings works at the correct speed for me, maybe you have your system set to 60hz? Or maybe in the system settings for wings you have the cpu set to a faster one like the 68020?
I found out today after hearing that The Secret of Monkey Island does not work that it depends on which WHDload lha game file that you have, I downloaded this version and it all works OK - SecretOfMonkeyIsland_v3.5_1625.lha best not put a link in case its not allowed.
So if you have a WHDFload game that does not work look around for different versions you maybe lucky.
