I've been on downturns where I've flopped quads and still managed to lose hands. Somtimes there absolutely nothing you can do.

I wouldn't say playing a game you've never played before for the highest stakes and losing is a downswing. . .

I play live poker in a big local casino. Was steadily grinding upward since 2016. In late 2020, I ran so fkn hot I destroyed anybody who came near me. Straight down hill Jan 2021 thru 2022. I don't play a whole lot, especially when I'm losing. I can't remember last time I won a 3 bet pot unless I took it down pre-flop. I'm down 30 buy ins from my peak at the end of 2020

loosing 30 bi live 9 handed isn't really a downswing anymore unless you are super super unlucky

True but I just had the worst 2022 of my poker career. I used to hear from other well known pros that they had a losing year from which I would brush it off and be like these guys just are probably making too many mistakes and dont realize it and the game may be passing them by at times. Now I finally see how bad it is to possibly run. Poker is never safe. You could be the best and jsut continue to get annihilated

the only way to make money in online poker, or poker in general, is to be aggressive af, and obv with that comes variance and mistakes but they can be minimized if each play is thought through carefully.

Nope online poker is a losing game because tells, body language, psycology etc are cut out of the game so there's no way to overplay your opponents. You just play your cards and get constantly exposed to variance.
