Mp45 was such a disappoinment, everything about it is bad, the backpack, the "cartoon accuracy", the feet, the Spike, the face, the stability, the price. Just the car mode that is ok but even then, it doesn't compare to the masterpiece that was mp21 (no pun intended)
Can't agree with that. I don't like masterpiece ver., because of the backpack, but look at this thing, every single bumblebee figure wins this! This is the strangest opinion I've ever heard, but it's your opinion, so ok
Our original G1 Bee didn’t have the silver-painted bumpers/headlights and the red tail lights…but yep. He’s pretty awesome. Also, the original facesculpt had the ‘battlemask’, not the animated face and the original bumpers were painted black I believe.

Ah, Trailbreaker. Him and Thundercracker were my first transformers, so special place in my nostalgia heart. Was able to get ahold of the Takara re-issue. One of the ones that sit in the box just because I really like the packaging...and I'm that guy.
Just a side mention, I've ulways personally thought G1 Optimus was much closer to looking like a Kenworth K-100 with subtle changes like a slightly square-er cab.

He never saw a beetle race here in Brazil, those guys modify Mitsubishi and RX-7 engines into Beetles making them go more than 210mph. They go so freaking fast that there has to be modification on the windshield and chassis so the car hold up against the wind
Part of what makes me despise his redesigns is his fixation on "macho" and luxury cars (when they aren't outright sponsor requests that is), I get not using every original G1 alt-mode because they are often too weird or outdated but the original autobots had all the range from common to luxury cars in all colours. Like, why can't Ironhide be red (I'm fine with him being a pickup truck as it fits with him being the "texan one") and why can't Ratchet be a van ambulance?
@@det.bullock4461 Assuming that Bay isn't a lying sack of crap, Ironhide couldn't be red for the same reason that Optimus was mostly blue with little twinges of red here and there; red is allegedly a difficult color to photograph. I have the 2011 Takara Chronicle Edition of G1 Prime. The version with tampographed Autobot symbols, just the fat gun, and a carved-out 5mm leg hitch to share with Deluxe DOTM Prime's trailer. $100 for 3 main centerpieces is a bit better than $50 for one.
Great review, as always!! Your stop-motion skills are unrivaled, and the humor is top notch! Really love the vehicle commentary. I've always loved the Diaclone/G1 aesthetic of making a perfect alt mode first, then engineering a transformer out of it. It's literally the reason for most of the iconic parts of most older character looks.
The Legends/Core Bumblebee in the Buzzworthy Bumblebee two pack replicates the Chibi proportions of the original Penny Racer (in a non licensed fashion, mind you), but also includes *molded* detail in the rear of the alt mode replicating the original stickers of this line! A prime candidate for paint, and the alt mode is honestly great fodder for getting an upscaled KO, because it's honestly a contender to replace Netflix Bee otherwise.

I got a reissue of G1 Prime for Christmas and absolutely filled with joy when I saw him, mainly because I've always wanted one for years, I mostly keep in the box, I did take him out just to see how he is and plus put the stickers on him, he's cool, the only other G1 figure I've had was a Dead End and to be honest for years I never realised he was a G1 figure.
I never had any of the G1 Transformers when I was a kid, but I actually recently came across one by complete accident. I was going on my usual Tuesday walk with my (hopefully) future stepdad's dad and dog a few months ago, when we cam across a box of free toys sitting on the sidewalk in front of a house. Being the curious man I am, I dug through the box to see what I could take home. By complete happenstance, I found a G1 Grimlock in pretty damn good shape. The only problems were I couldn't find any of his accessories, he's only has the stickers on the side of the dino mode torso as well as the rub sign, and he's got a bit of a hole in his robot mode left foot which is fairly unsightly. That and most of a row of teeth broke off after I took it home and is now chilling inside his mouth until I can get it glued back on. I was completely taken aback that there was a straight-up G1 toy in this box, so I was like "Y'know what? I think I'mma take this." I also grabbed the Classics Megatron that was in there (y'know, the old Nerf gun looking thing) because the only Classics figures I had are Nemesis Prime, Mirage, Bumblebee, and Grimlock, so I figured I'd just add it to the pile for the hell of it. There were some other figures in there that I couldn't identify and some non-Transformers things that I didn't care about, so I just resumed our walk with my finds in tow and I took them home, wiped them down with a baby wipe, and now they proudly sit on top of the printer next to my computer desk.
2:24 fun fact! Not only drag race beetles but I discovered that there was once a conversion kit for the 1973 Beetle 1303 that turns it into a Porsche 935. Yes, you heard that right, and it's the version of the 935 that Jazz was based on! If you want to know more, you can just search it on google for "Oettinger 73 Beetle 1303" (Sorry if this comment is doubled, or even tripled, I tried uploading it 5 times and It didn't work, still don't know why...)
Thew put it best when referencing this Optimus Reissue. It isn't FOR us, collectors. It's for Joe Blow who's in the shop, sees the figure and says "Hey I had this as a kid", and can more reasonably spend $50 instead of $100.

I find it funny how "Idiots" complain about Parts forming and thinks it degrads a figure but then praise G1 prime. Who himself is a Parts former is it just that he's so Iconic that all flaws found on other figures is dismissed and is only apparent on the 21st century toys because Hasbro was suppose to have technology so good that we get rid of Parts forming.
I definitely hear you on the MP Bee 2.0! Takara has really helped me save money by doing so many slavishly cartoon-accurate "Masterpiece" figures. They really just don't appeal to me with their undetailed surfaces and warped proportions and such.
Well, trucks don't have to drive on pavement only, specially when they are working in woodworking or mining operations, so it would made some sense to use offroad tires on a truck. At least if those same tires indeed exist for trucks :)
Just to fill you in on what happened with reissue Optimus. The original mold from 1983 was broken so what we basically got was a newly tooled, g1 optimus. If he had the trailer, he would have been Commander Price.
The tooling alone can't be that expensive, since he's still pretty close to the same size as Earthrise, while also having a lower parts count and fewer paint aps. Not to mention even if they had to recast the mold, since it's all old engineering there'd have been little to no additional design and development costs that go into the manufacturing of newer figures. If it's to be justified at all most of that cost has got to be in the materials, the diecast metal and the rubber tiers being premiums.
Is that happened to Astrotrain too? I mean it sorta makes sense though, new tooling is a crazy price, but that is a little up there, and the fact they always go to clearance is kinda what the general public seems to feel as well

As far as I'm concerned, the MP-11 Seeker mould is the pinnacle of everything-stays-attached transformation technology. Heck. you could even sort of pull that off with the MP-03 Seeker mould, if I recall, but its hip-kibble looked terrible.

What's wrong with toy brawn's heads? His gobot claw arms, height, and bullet shaped head make him stand out much more amongst the other minibots

@@SoundblasterYT Not only that (but that's an excellent point), the more parts you have take off or put on, the more things there are to lose.
As far as I'm concerned, the MP-11 Seeker mould is the pinnacle of everything-stays-attached transformation technology. Heck. you could even sort of pull that off with the MP-03 Seeker mould, if I recall, but its hip-kibble looked terrible.

I make my Kingdom Warpath have the barrel of the tank out to make it accurate to basically every other design of warpath
I think what made g1 so different is that it's designed as a car first and a robot second. Where as now days they start with the robot .
The lazy eyebrow: uses earthrise bumblebee for the beginning shot. The lazy eyebrow: uses bug bite and cliffjumper instead of bumblebee no offense.
I think there's a text explanation about that, or I may have forgotten to out that in, idk haha (I didn't have Netflix bee when I filled the review)

The earthrise optimus prime voice here is better than the one in the show. I need to modify my Trailbreaker.
Chinese KO's of Optimus are going for like $40 bucks, complete with trailer. Hell, if all you need is the trailer, its not a bad price.
