  • Pretty much a completely devkit level. I think only the graphics showing the debuff you can choose are custom. Although I could be mistaken and the speed debuffs are also custom? In any case, the hard part of this stage comes in trying to play around the double speed debuff. It can be really jarring to go that fast. Even the little bit of air time you get from scaling a wall with Track Shoes can get you really far with the double speed. There's a lot of instant death in this stage that you can very easily run into because of that double speed.
I guess I should address the elephant in the room, the very cool Toad Man skip. To do it, you Track Shoes zip at the slide passage above the Toad Man portrait. This puts you in the wall with the Toad Man portrait. You then want to screen transition into the boss, but make sure you enter it higher than the "ground" level. I enter by using Electro Cable at the ceiling, but just jumping into the boss should do. Do not slide into the boss because that will kill you upon entry. After entering the boss and gaining control, you want to get on top of the arena. If you entered by jumping like I said, you can mash jump a little to get on top. If you're too low, then jumping will zip you into the boss door, sending you back. For this run, I use Banshee Wail which zips you upwards when you're in a wall. After that, just make it to the right and fall all the way down to the next checkpoint where you can Ctrl+R to get back in bounds.
This skip is honestly kind of a miracle. The level architecture is just right for this. It seems 2018 LOLIPOP was the type to manually tile the stage and also only tile the outside walls with solids. I'm the same actually. The difference in having just the outside solid vs having the entirety of the wall solid makes more of an impact in MaGMML2 runs where zips are more common and you're inside the architecture more. In any case, if the wall with the Toad Man portrait were completely solid, this Track Shoes zip would simply have been a faster way to get into the fight. Or if the Toad Man arena's walls were completely solid, skipping it wouldn't have been possible. But the most miraculous thing here is the screen transition. Usually when there's a boss or midboss active that you need to kill to progress, screen transitions are locked. Downwards screen transitions would usually kill you if you tried using them with a boss or midboss active, but for some unknown reason, this one works fine. This extends to the second screen transition I do here too. Usually that should kill you because the boss is still considered active.
One more tangent about the architecture. The walls with the portraits being hollow on the inside is exactly why I don't do any other Track Shoes zips in this run. Like if the wall with the Gravity Man portrait were completely solid, a Track Shoes zip at the slide passage above it would be a really good shortcut. But doing a Track Shoes zip there would softlock you inside the wall with the portrait. Moreover, the double speed debuff seems to make it not possible to Track Shoes I think? If it is possible, it's really hard or inconsistent.
As for the other bosses, I choose Gravity Man over Pharaoh Man and Dust Man over Air Man. The simple reason is just that they're faster. Their weaknesses do more damage than the competition. Gravity Man takes 6 damage from Magnetic Shockwave vs Pharaoh Man who takes 4 damage from Spark Chaser. Dust Man takes 7 damage from Tornado Blow vs Air Man who takes 4 damage from Spark Chaser. Gravity Man is also a much more consistent fight than Pharaoh Man.
This run beats the previous 0 jump record, laimu's 3:17. I'm also just a little behind the normal record, but I imagine that will go much further down thanks to the Toad Man skip. For improvements, I'd say my execution in the double speed portions would be the biggest source of time loss. It feels pretty bad to just slam into everything and I'm pretty sure my Magnet Beam usage is suboptimal. I'm just excited to be using Magnet Beam in jump saver. Other than that, I definitely lost time in that Dust Man fight. You would prefer him to just stand there and suck because Tornado Blow's second hit would get him immediately after his i-frames end. I also chickened out of rushing to the right as soon as Dust Man died. Those spikes take a bit to go away and I've lost a fair share of runs to getting overzealous and slamming into them. Lastly, it miiiight be worth taking high gravity into the Gravity Man fight instead of low gravity. You can get out of the room after the boss dies faster and it might still be possible to get the Magnetic Shockwave chain even with the high gravity.
