Getting vulnerable in this one and telling my van life story. It's been a huge challenge but quite the adventure.

You’re better off living an alternative lifestyle like van life than renting an apartment where the rent keeps going up which is why I prefer van life

Hi Dom, nice to see another van lifer. I’m really looking forward to seeing what design ideas you come up with. I’m 2 years into van life (very basic setup) and I’m just about to start converting mine too (not sure I could handle another winter without insulation) lol.

I think insulation is a game changer, certainly worth doing and not crazy expensive.
I’ve just finished insulating the Sprinter and I’m glad it’s sorted!
You’re an absolute trooper for braving a winter without insulation 😆
I didn’t really have a choice tbh, but this winter will be different and I’m looking forward to finally sorting it all out.. might even video it, not sure I’m brave enough though. I hope your build is coming along nicely, look forward to the updates.

I don’t know how people are surviving in this current shit show.Ive moved into my van as it was my only option left.But I’ve found it surprisingly comfortable and it does have its perks.

New conversion looking great!,we own a nv200 & can put the bed up & down & do everything without opening a door thanks to a swivel front passenger seat,we love it.cant wait to see your progress on the sprinter 👍🏻👍🏻

I moved into my van for the same reason. I was working 60hrs a week just to pay rent and bills with no time, money or energy left for myself. I converted my Peugeot Partner and I've been living in it since January. I love my small van, it has everything I need in it, it's economical and easy to drive as an everyday vehicle and inconspicuous so easy to stealth. However I'm saving the money I'm not spending on rent for a bigger van, one I can stand up in. Loved your vid subscribed so I can follow your build.

Also, being able to stand up is a game changer!
Cracking little van for you would be renault master, vauxhall movano or a nissan nv400 swbyou may get away low roof if under 5ft 8inch if taller swb medium roof, well over 8ft in back, absolutely love mine it is the perfect size. Hope this helps

@@DomsWheelhouse Thank you Dom :) It is gonna take some time to save but i am determined to get out of the rat race. After a 19 year realationship ended i was forced to rent a room as prices in Essex are so steep like most places these days and well i have got sick of paying out silly money for a room along with other things.

How would they enforce it? People need to start enjoying life and switching off from the constant fear manufacturered crisises and lies. I went from big house, own successful business with all the empty trappings to a self build peugeot boxer and I'm in my 50s. Never been happier, freer or more settled.

Pay per mile road tax
im thinking og getting a transit van ford but im worried about parking since supremem court ruling 9-3, which allows many cities to create ordinance like no oversize parking. since i work i like to park it on the street, does the extra height benefits you more than finding a street parking? i was considering a ford transit low roof vs ford transit med roof
I think the stricter parking restrictions are only likely in very busy cities, but even then I doubt you’d ever have an issue! A little bit of planning goes a long way when it comes to parking.
It’s worth weighing up how important it is to you to be able to stand up in the van. I couldn’t stand in the Nissan but I can in the sprinter and it makes a huge difference! I didn’t mind not being able to in the nissan, but I was only really in it when I was about to go to sleep. If you’re going to spend a lot of time in it, I’d say opt for the higher roof
@@DomsWheelhouse hmm I guess I’ll get the ford transit mid roof. The rent is so high it’s not sustainable to live in apartments right now. Thank you for the input.

What is your full yearly cost of ownership including maintenance, depreciation, insurance, repair. You can take out gas expenses. I cant find much data on this at all
Not a clue sorry mate, minuscule compared to a house though! Outgoings are less than half for me personally
The solution to overpriced homes due to demand are not overpriced vans (due to demand)
@@VelcorHF I agree, it’s not right. But for now, I’d take an overpriced van over providing someone with a passive income and struggling along the way every time!
