- Religious affiliations can affect the electability of the presidents of the United States and shape their stances on policy matters and their visions of society and also how they want to lead it. While no president has ever openly identified as an atheist, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, and William Howard Taft were speculated to be atheists by their opponents during political campaigns; in addition, a survey during the presidency of Donald Trump showed that 63% of Americans did not believe he was religious, despite his professed Christian affiliation. Conversely, other presidents, such as Jimmy Carter, have used their faith as a defining aspect of their campaigns and tenure in office.
Almost all of the presidents can be characterized as Christians, at least by upbringing, though some were unaffiliated with any specific religious body. Mainline Protestants predominate, with Episcopalians and Presbyterians being the most prevalent. John F. Kennedy was the first Catholic president and Joe Biden, the incumbent president, is the second. There have been at least four nontrinitarian presidents.

Do read the book The Case For Christ by Lee Strobel, Lee interviews a dozen world top scholars all whom have earned Ph.d's from top credible university's those scholars have top degrees in history, theology, archeology, psychology, science and they all give good a real powerful evidence for the Biblical Jesus Christ being real. Also the ancient Letter of 1st Corinthians chapter 15 which was written around 57AD also gives powerful and real evidence for Jesus Christ and their's many many more ancient documents giving evidence for the biblical Jesus Christ too !!.

They believed in some kind of divine providence, but many of them were not specifically Christian. Either way, they specifically established a secular government.

He wanted the church to take his criticisms to heart and actually address the issues, especially the sale of indulgences for salvation. But they never had any intention of reforming, instead they persecuted Luther who had to flee for his life. My advise to anyone who has problems with the church is not to abandon it, but to try to work through the issues, and if you still cannot be reconciled, find one that is faithful both in doctrine and love.
