Islam is dogmatically an easier religion to understand too, no complicated Trinity business to begin with and less schisms historically and less variety at the top level at present -- sunni, shia and ibadi basically. Also it's way more conservative, so I expect the more Catholicism and Protestantism starts inviting lady priests and allowing same-sex marriages the more Christianity will lose followers to Islam among those who really feel the need to believe in unprovable forces.

Most people leave christianity because it is hardest religion to practice properly. If you truly believe you don't regard it as one it more of a relationship and declaring the message to the lost. You need to act and believe. But if is the true faith because people will accept any other religion but true Christians they will reject and persecute as it the true faith Jesus is the only who said he was the only way. All other religeons say he is a way.
