Hey man, a quick tip about feeling the "roughness" of your surface while prepping is to have a thin plastic piece of plastic foil, bag (usually transparent) around your hand. I got this tip from an old painter and detailer, and somehow you can even feel the roughness of paint before decontaminating it with a clay bar! It's also a good idea to have some marking powder (black or white, depending on the colour of the sanded surface) when sanding any surface with consistent colour, so that you see which parts are the high spots. Whatever colour you choose, it's going to look stunning on this car. Loved watching the vid, really enjoyed the progress!
This video makes me want to sand and wrap my car so badly. This seems like the perfect task for an autist like me to get sucked into it lol. Maybe once I've sorted out the performance (and my budget has gone up a little) I'll get around to doing this :) Also, I just want to say that this was a great video! It really feels like you are stepping up your game lately, you are clearly putting in a lot of effort and it absolutely shows. This is hands down my favourite channel on TH-cam, I always save your videos for late at night so I can watch them with a cup of hot choccie :D
Former auto body guy, this is a several day project. Stop worrying about time, it’s not a race. And stop tilting the sander. Mow down the entire high area to match the low area
Oh trust me, I will some day. I want the E30 to have a really nice paint job, so I don't want it to be the car I learn on if that makes sense. I want to use the GTI VR6 swap to learn since the first time won't be the best lol
7 looks super neat. 8 also caught my eye. But its YOUR car, so regardless of what the internet says, pick what you love and i'm sure its gonna be sick 🍻
8 looks great. Also get a block sander for Bondo work. To notice low spots give the work area a dust of black paint from afar. So that way any spots that are low will show up. Also its easier to apply bondo when you go top to bottom and then to smooth it out you go side to side
Colour nr.3 it's very interesting. Also, take your time prepping the surface. I install ppf daily and this was one of the first lessons. Better prepare it good at the beginning than losing time doing it during the process.
@@HunterDirection also, some more advice. 1. Pay extra attention on the corners and edges because those are one of the most important parts. I mean not just on the visible side but also where the panels join and behind the panel, ~1cm would be enough. You don’t want it to lift after the first wash. 2. When installing PPF, to finish the edges and corners, we spray them very good with IPA, let them sit a little bit, and then use a normal hair dryer. I find it better compared to a heatgun for 2 reasons: - better temp control. (You don’t risk to burn the foil) - increased airflow and air speed. Helps to blow away the liquid and dry the edges faster. 3. Maybe you are familiar with this one because you have wrapping experience but I will still mention it. In order to have clean cuts you need to “cut”/break the cutter’s blade on each cut, especially when doing fine cuts like corners. Helps a lot. I recommend carbon blades. 4. Lastly, I will explain you our steps when installing. Pretty basic but for us that’s the way to avoid contaminants as much as possible. - first of all, clean thoroughly the garage. Everything. You don’t want dust at all. - detail the car. All the cracks and joints have a lot of dust or sand which will come out during the install, so use a brush in those areas. - assuming you finished sanding and you have a nice surface, wipe the pannel thoroughly with surface prep. I know I keep repeating myself, but pay extra attention on corners and edges. I also know how frustrating it is to find that the edge lifted after install. - cut the PPF in the size of your pannel. Actually, cut it bigger because it’s easier to stretch it. - I recommend to have a peeling board or some big improvised working bench. We use 6 picnic tables, one near each other. Lay the PPF with the liner and glue facing downwards. Peel the ppf spraying slip solution between the glue and the liner. After you peeled it completely, lay it back on the table with the glue facing down. Try to avoid spending too much time with the glue exposed to avoid contaminants. You are ready to go. From now on you need to move fast. - spray slip solution on your panel. - squeegee it away in order to remove potential dust. - spray again slip solution rinsing the whole panel with it, from top to bottom. - lay the ppf on the panel. - secure each corner with IPA and make sure you have tension - squeegee - depending on how fast you move maybe you will need to spray again slip solution under the ppf because it’s getting dry pretty fast - spray IPA on the edges and corners to rinse the slip solution - cut - use hairdryer to finish I know it’s a lot to read but I hope it will be helpful. Enjoy! 👌

For me it would be hard to pick one, even when putting them like you did. I'd have to see the whole car in each color. Number 3 looks great from the "midnight purple" angle!
5 looks epic. A close second is 8 but 5 against all the black trim and grille would really pop. But I'm sure whatever one you go with it is gonna look good buddy.
I've always been a sucker for dark blues/purples... ok dark colors crimson, forest green.... Ya, I'm no help. BUT I'm learning while you learn. Very interested to see how this goes.
10-8-7-5 those are my favorites out of the bunch . But would also need to think for awhile if I was to pick just one. ( either way it’s going to look awesome )
I’m going to need to do all this prep to my Audi. Luckily I was able to get the clear bra that was cracked into a million pieces off without leaving a bunch of glue behind.
@@HunterDirection I appreciate the reply. I’ve actually been trying to find videos on body prep as I plan on getting my car wrapped soon and your videos have literally been exactly what I was looking for. And the way you edit your videos make them engaging and entertaining. I started with your audi TT and just binged all the e30 prep videos, love the channel, you def got a subscriber here.
Fire up Forza Horizon 5 or NFS Heat or NFS Unbound and start looking what sticks. Yes those are M E30s but still a decent view on a whole car. Almost positive you'd find similar wheels to yours.

#8 for sure! beautiful colors and keeps the blue-green soul alive.
That's very true about the blue green spirit haha
8 is absolutely gorgeous
I think so too. I haven't seen something like it before!
Happy Saturday!
I like the teal that turns to sage.

The original color is so good! you're doing all the prep anyways... just paint it!
Sure would make for a great learning process and video content if he did the whole process himself.🤔

Thank you. Voting for #7
3, 4 & 8 are looking good
Great video as always! It will be a tough decision! I like many of those colors. but nr.3 is in my opinion the best
ORRRRR.... you could also do a wrapped version of the green and brown paint job it originally had just for funzies.... 😂
Lmfao that's actually great😅😅😅
That 7 for the hood with 5 for the body would be awesome to see!
I really enjoy all your videos 😎
i would love to see it in 3. cant wait to see what you choose.
7 looks amazing.
Great videos! I always learn a lot
Finally Saturday. Nothing but a good morning watching the E30. Cheers

6 absolutely pops, but i like number 3 as well. subtle, with a shine

Yeah it's so hard for me to pick too. My favorites on the website aren't my favorites in person haha
I'm leaning towards #8, something about it just seems right!
5 looks epic. A close second is 8 but 5 against all the black trim and grille would really pop. But I'm sure whatever one you go with it is gonna look good buddy.
I personally like 7.
7 is super cool!
It would also look great on the truck… 8 would be a good option and most seem to agree.
anything but orange for me

Yeh dont rush it painting or prep takes the longest
True!
ill be doing #3 for my e30 vert

Same haha. It takes me so long to decide something like this lol
3 is fire.
You should take the car outside and see what the colors look like in the sun. Colors definitely pop differently when outside with the sun!!
number 8 is clean
I agree!

Please do 8. That's a really cool color shift.

6
Hi. I suppose her green color looks magnificent. But if choice is need to be done, I'd rather narrow down the range between 5 and 8.
5 and 8 are both super solid!
What’s the name of #8. It’s looks soooooo good

8 or 9!
The Dark blue. But if wrap dark blue the jams must be painted black 😅

Go with the "Midnight Blue" i think its number 3, you can never go wrong with a blue bimmer boss
Would be cool if they had one that changed from light blue to dark blue.
