I am from Andhra and don't know Tamizh, but I have always been interested in learning about the Alwar and Nayanmar tradition. Everytime I searched to learn about something I couldn't because it was in Tamizh. Giving this lecture in English has been a blessing, because for the first time I can understand the tradition in depth (unlike Wikipedia) from an actual scholar and practitioner. Namaskaram.

sad isnt it? The language of our colonizer has become a language that now links Indians because of bad language policies since independence.

Thanks for doing this in English for non Tamil listeners like me. I know Tamilians may be a bit upset that they are not in the local language. But this extensive. review also helps to compare the influences and understand culture of land for scholars outside...Please keep up the good work.❤

There are plenty of talks in Tamil about the Tamil devotional literature in TH-cam. It is rare to find good talks it in English. It is great that you have done this in English which will reach a wider audience worldwide. There are children of Tamil heritage worldwide who need to know the value of their roots. For this purpose it is good that this talk has been in English.

Excellent talk, giving a comprehensive overview of both Saiva Thirumurai and Vaishnava Thiviya Prabantham. Mathu also peppered the talk with many unusual and little known facts about these Bakthi literature. I hope there will be more talks by Mathu about the Temples of Tamil Nadu in the future.
