This MIT genius says he is not smart enough to expound on what happens after death. The really smart ones are humble because they are aware of how little they know. Thank you Lex.
I doubt ANY semi-reasonable person would explicitly state what you just basically called the level that divides smart& humble from others Or your control group are extremely religous people? Who says "I know exactly what happens after death!" :D lmao
You do not have to be smart to understand you know fuck-all of something you cannot possibly experience and come back to explain. This guy is a nobody.
yeah nobody is smart enough to know what happens after death. My personal opinion is its just nothing. Which when I think about it really trips me out. Nothing, forever, till the end of time, forever is a long time, but what about after forever? Makes me hope for something after death, whether it be reincarnation or just an infinite loop.
Being deployed in Afghanistan and working side by side with Afghans had a profound effect on me. It made me realize that me as an American with my values and beliefs made me no better than the some Afghan who is doing what they do to get by and that ultimately we are a bunch of dumb humans hurtling through an infinite amount of nothingness on a rock at a ridiculous speed and that we are all just trying to see the next sunrise. The hate we have towards different cultures, religions and races is extremely petty when it comes to what we are as a species. I'd like to believe we can advance beyond these squabbles but I realize most people are too selfish to think beyond themselves.

Also my dad was in prison for attempted murder. I showed him your post. He said you’re way to sensitive/dramatic to have been in or survived a hardcore prison. This guy going to war knows way more then you going to “jail” 😂 Go to war man, see how that is, want to talk about dangerous. Missiles and bullets aren’t hitting jail cells. Again you’re lying man. You’re very insecure, that’s what you are.
@Elliot Rodger We would still be Neanderthals if it werent for irrational thinkers. The craziest ones have changed the world with their CRAZY ideas (Galileo, Newton, Einstein?!). Never hurts to think about possibilities and even explore them as long as you can keep grounded in reality at the same time.
My first death of a loved one was my dog. She passed away on Tuesday morning. I gave her for cremation, and she was cremated on Thursday. Thursday night I saw her in my dream. She was drinking from her water bowl. She didn't say anything to me but I felt she was saying something about her last drink from my hands before she goes. I have only seen her one other time in my dream after that (and I dream vividly daily). I took her for a walk, no lead, in a green island floating in the sky. Idk what to make of it, but those 2 dreams have made me feel safe and ok with dying.
I'm very glad you had your lovely dog appear in your dreams. It's the spirits way of saying they are okay. And maybe, just maybe, your own spirit went out of body to visit your dog. Again, dreaming could be warnings in our subconciousness or they really are our soul leaving our body to explore elsewhere. Again, scientists and nonbelievers will deny this, simply because we cant prove it. I like to think that the truth is being kept secret from all of us for some reason. I saw my dad pass away very horribly 2 weeks, 2 days ago. Im destroyed but slowly moving again. But I've not let go of him. I refuse to believe there's no afterlife. Because if I believe there is none, then I wont get to see my dad again. I've had several experiences that were supernatural with the passing of my dad. From a lightbulb that worked just fine weeks before he was taken to hospital to suddenly it didnt work and would induce seizure flashing effects, and had to be kept off all the time. Then one day after long time, i turned it on again after many former tries where it wasnt fixed, and then suddenly it worked again. Then there's the visitation dreams ive had. One was.. Very real on an emotional level as well as socializing level. I dont want to go into details but lets just say I saw how my dad entered the dream. Wasnt scary, more fascinating. I've felt his presence at certain places too. Then there's the things i heard him talk about while sleeping. He NEVER talked in his sleep. Now he did. "Who are all those people?" And nobody replied. But wherever he was, someone replied. He went. "Oh okay." He also told us that he had the most realistic dream ever, and he truely believed he was there. We were in shock at how he was almost fanatical about it. I truely believed the lady on the train station came to help him cross over. But for some reason, they didnt and an ambulance came to guide him back to the hospital, and he woke up. I believe it was because of us, his familiy. Being given more time. Each time I've had a cat pass away, mere minutes to an hour later while I was sad, 3 cats in total, all have meowed me loudly against my ear in the dark while laying on my bed. It was both scary but also made me happy that they said goodbye in their spirit forms. Now ive read up that people who are dying see hallucinations or visions. So alot are going to say its just that with my dad. But I truely dont believe that. It's just scientists excuse to try and explain what they cant explain. Also, please learn about pancreatic cancer. I wish i knew this stuff before. Apparently blood tests cant detect pancreatic cancer and you must be aware of the symptoms. Also during my peak grief, I fell asleep. And I'm so sure I had an OBE. I wasnt aware of anything of my current life, of my current who I am, I was at peace and felt like there was no time. All I can say is I was someone else. I truely believe I was my higher self. I didnt remember my earth identity, at all, like it wasnt a concern. I went to a place in the skies that felt like home, and met others who I knew/saw as my family & friends. There is more to it but I dont want to tell everything as It's very personal. But all I can say is, this OBE changed me who I am on earth, its like my higher self wanted me to see this glimpse of heaven or a part of heaven if you will. There was all the OBE things, like flying in the skies etc. Time going fast yet it wasnt at all time either. Its very hard to explain. Now when I came back into my body, It was darkness for a few seconds and I felt my senses come back into my fingers and toes and then the rest of my body fast. I had only slept 45 mins. Yet where I was felt like I had been there long. I also felt how i slowly remembered who i was, my earth identity. But just wanted you to know, that I truely believe there is more to just our lives on planet earth.
My mom had a dream when my grandpa died, her stepfather, and he came to her and said she was doing a great job of raising me and was proud of her. Now this could be a way of coping with it but most dreams are non sense. Truly intriguing how that happened
We dream about it things we long for and our fears. I lost my dog a year ago and dreamt about him the other night. I knew i was dreaming but didn’t care because I could hug him and pet him and hear him. It was real to me but only a dream
Know it’s a joke but “you” is awareness, that which has no second, so everything that’s ever happened and ever will happen involves you because that’s what there is.

The night my grandmother died during her sleep, she visited me in my dream. We hugged and she said, "I have to go now, but I wanted to see you one last time before I go." The scene took place at a train station in Europe (trains have a distinct look there). More than a year later I'm staying at a relative's home in Lielvarde, LV and while waiting to take the train to the main city I notice that the station is the one that was in my dream. Something I wonder about...when you fall asleep at night. There’s no comprehension of time. You close your eyes and wham you’re awake. So...when you pass...what comes next is like as it says...in a blink of an eye.
It’s difficult, but you can just think about a major event that happened before you were born, where were you ? That’s where you go... or let me correct myself, that’s what might happen.
God is 100% real, read the quran you will realize this book couldn’t have been made by a human. The quran is a literary miracle and the information and wisdom contained in it is beyond any human capacity. It also mentions scientific facts which couldn’t have been known 1400 years ago when it was revealed while also not having any scientific errors. God mentions there is an after life and our only purpose in life is to worship him and prepare for the hereafter. The hereafter is a reflection of your life on this earth. Any good deeds you did in this world you will see its rewards in the hereafter and any sins you commit in this world you will see its punishment in the hereafter.
Death is the unknown in which all of us lived before birth. Nothing is more creative than death, since it is the whole secret of life. It means that the past must be abandoned, that the unknown cannot be avoided, that “I” cannot continue, and that nothing can be ultimately fixed. When a person knows this, they live for the first time in their life. By holding your breath, you lose it. By letting it go, you find it. ~ Alan Watts
If a higher intelligence is responsible for all this its probably more than willing to communicate with you directly. All you gotta do is pick up that ethereal phone and talk to it yourself
If we threw paint randomly on the ground would be end up with a mona lisa on the ground? The statisticians would answer yes we would eventually in terms of probability. The expert have said the probability of mona lisa on the ground from some random paint thrown on the ground is more likely than the universe being like this by chance. Roger penrose, professor of mathematics at Oxford University, has worked out the probability of this universe being a low entropy universe by chance. And the probability is (10^10)^123 to 1. It's and incredibly incredibly incredibly small chance of the universe being like this. It looks like someone has designed it like that means if it's an intelligent design then there must be a designer. Yung Witch yes, because most people would try to hide the fact they don’t know, “uhhh I forgot” or prolonging time with answers like “I haven’t done maths in so long, I can’t remember it anymore” when really you didn’t know it in the first place but too ashamed of your stupidity to admit it. People who aren’t ashamed of being stupid tend to be quite smart
It's arrogant to think we are as good as it gets. How is a society 200,000,000 light years away going to make it to another universe in their lifetime? Uploading you consciousness to an android, and sending the androids out to space would be the only possibility. Possibly.
People can talk about what they believe about the afterlife, what they "think" happens, but the afterlife and whatever it may be, cannot be known during this lifetime. We'll all find out what, if anything, happens soon enough. Until then, focus on what can be known....this present lifetime.

The wind will take us away, silently, gracefully, in peace as we were the moment before we first opened our eyes. As the song said: "All we are, is dust in the wind."

When people ask "What do you think happens to us after we die?," I think they're almost always really asking "Do you think our consciousness continues after we die?" None of us have the answer to that. There are many who speculate (which is fine, in my opinion) and others who think they know (which is arrogant, dogmatic, etc. in my opinion) but none of us really "know" and I'm okay with just letting it be a mystery.
Cloases Speaks Life was not always like this. We call it the universal time, but it is only a gap between your time and our time. Let me rephrase this: it is but a splinter of a second; it is not the time as you know it, but it is time that collects memories and memories between spaces. I have worked between both your world and mine, of thoughts that bounces backwards and forwards, with such great energy force you could not imagine. Forces of all minds collectively are a state of energy. What could we do with an energy of such great magnitude? The simple solution is when we connect thoughts from the energy’s force; we bypass it by a simple space of time. It is called tunneling in your language - when thoughts are held into a sequence of modules. This is how you can connect to one’s higher self by communicating with the other side, as you call it. This energy does not interfere with other energies. You could never imagine the strength of vibrating in your world as it would be beyond your comprehension, Pamela. Your memories go back to time itself. Beginnings, you ask. about memories. The moment we change worlds is when we start to have memories. From then on, we forgot what we had learned and left it in the past. We were now ready to start a new future of all thoughts. Remember how far you have come from the beginning of time and how far your world has come through technology. I am unhappy to say that as you have all gone further on into time, you have forgotten how to spend time - time is of the essence. Time is what we are given. When we first opened our eyes, did we use our time with no knowledge or concerns for the future? Would you be happy with the time that you spent on the earth? Would you be happy with the conditions of the world, and did you at any time strive to make a difference? To the world, you will leave one day behind. The space between times is the time it takes to think.the time of essence.
As you age your mind deteriorates, your memory fades, and cognitive ability is diminished. What would you take into the afterlife if you can't remember where you left your car keys?
@pammccagh 5 minutes ago (edited) My name is Pam McCagh, and I am a suicide survivor. I would like to share my experiences and talk to people about suicide, what happens, and where your loved ones go when they Die. Now I will tell you. The Truth, The Whole Truth And Nothing But The Truth. It is a space, a space where no one else can reach you. It is the emptiness of all emptiness'; it is depression. I had a million things to hold on to, but nothing could fill the space of time. You can hear yourself laughing, and you can feel yourself smile, and your everyday experiences just keep rolling by. Did I brush my teeth this morning? Did I fill the car with fuel? Did I say goodbye to the children? Did I forget something on my shopping list? What did I forget? I had planned to have tea with my friends. But nothing seems to connect. It is just a space within a space. It is not that we forget. It is just time. You never know when it will happen again, and you don't know whether it will ever stop, and you pray to God that it will end quickly. You think of a million things that would hold you here, and then all thoughts disappear, and once again, you are left with the emptiness. It is space a space of depression of all time; it does not mean that we do not love our loved ones, and it does not mean we do not want to be happy. It is a time frame of one second of one moment of life. I do know it is very hard to explain. But I do know it is a sickness, and I know it is always with me, at all times, just waiting. And when there is no one else with us, we look to the sky for answers. But there is none. We feel ourselves turning and twisting inside, trying to keep the thoughts away; sometimes, it is just like a flick of a switch, and a light comes in, and once again, we are ourselves. People used to tell me that God does not forgive suicides. I can tell you they are wrong. There is always someone waiting, waiting for that one moment of time when we feel once more the time frame of life and Death and all it holds. I have heard that phrase many times; There is no other way to explain suicide. It is when we say a moment of time; that is exactly what it is. We ask for forgiveness from our loved ones for not holding their hand a little longer. Be not the judge, for this is the beginning and not the end. Once again, we will journey through time. And find the place that holds us safely until, once more, we will return to the things we love and miss most. To find a place of belonging and contentment, a place where we can forgive ourselves. But most of all, it is a place where we can return to our loved ones and try to help them understand the ways of suicide, Death and all it foretold. Please do not judge us, and please forgive us. By Pam McCagh.

A hospice nurse said that on almost every occasion when someone is passing on to another life that while their bodies are shutting down one organ system at a time that they will be looking past those present in the room with them, or that they will be reaching for something or someone they see and it's not a moment of terror or a horrible transition from life to death. That they genuinely see something that brings them peace. But it is also said that our bodies release the chemical DMT as we die too.. And that is supposedly a strong hallucinagin if taken synthetically made by men can bring very distressing visions So that we can deal with a traumatic life situation. So I don't believe everyone goes seeing these peaceful visions it's different for everyone, but that's just what this hospice nurse told me.
The body is quite smart it knows that your dying and knows you cant handle it so it probably just ends up releasing that strong chemical like self destruct chemical that also calms you down for your last seconds of life.
Sheeeeeeeeit, I just hope there is no such place as Hell, cuz if there is, no amount of Christ’s blood will save our filthy souls. And of course hopefully tripping on DMT during periods of healthy life doesn’t screw up that natural release when we are about to die. That would be awful.
I coded in the back of an ambulance before. Brutal attempts to revive me was followed by a 3 day coma. I didn't see any deceased loved ones, no white light. It was very similar to an acid trip but I feel like that was more from the coma than the flatline. I remember being very aware that my mind (soul??) was re-entering this hospital room and I was panicking about it.
I saw a light and many people and felt an overwhelming joyous amount of love. Mine was also like an acid trip but x10000 the colors where crazy and their were millions if not billions more. There was also things like no shadows and my body was the best it’s ever been.
That wouldn't be symmetrical, though... unless the extra appendage is the one they evolved exclusively to throw shit at each other. But why do that, you can throw shit more efficiently if you use multiple arms at once. Fuck, I'm confused now.

It’s weird how most of us admit that there’s nothingness before being born, but can’t come to terms with the idea of there most probably is nothingness too after we die. Also I like how he mentions how beauty and fairness only mean something to us. I always argue about this when people talk about ideal traits where I would state that what we call good traits have no meaning for the universe. Hence if God exists, he doesn’t have to be fair or honest.
I agree, people can’t imagine not existing but they didn’t exist until they were born. Life is a process, consciousness is an emergent property of brains... when life ends, the processes and emergent properties end too. Simple as that.
Jaydan Balin it does if you have a love for “experience.” I don’t have existential dilemmas but I would much rather get to experience the universe then not. Not to sound pretentious, corny or cliche but I’ve often thought of how lucky I am to be able to live. There’s trillions of ways my atoms could of formed and I feel lucky that they just so happened to form a thinking and breathing human.
There’s an amazing book about a hypnotherapist who was originally an atheist treating people and when they were under *deep* hypnosis he would tell them to go to the source of their unexplainable pain/depression/etc. and the first time he did this a man (who had a pain in his side and after many tests the doctors told him it was psychological) immediately started describing being bayoneted in a war. The hypnotherapist who was a minor historian asked him to describe what he was wearing, etc. and realized exactly what battle it was (which was hundreds of years ago). This hypnotherapist, who again was atheist this time, didn’t know what to make of this, and tried to ignore it. Some time later with a separate client the same thing happened concerning her depression, except she started describing being with her “soul group” between lives. This hypnotherapist went on to dedicate his life to finding out more about our lives between lives, documenting thousands of separate cases (without leading questions or anything of the sort). The most incredible thing is the continuity in what all of them said. It’s absolutely incredible. For those of you who know how powerful & consistent deep hypnosis is, this is an amazing read. It’s called “Journey of Souls”
Theres another book by Dr Brian Weiss same changed my life forever death is not a thing just a transition to our next chapter we are energy and do not die.
Hunter S. Thompson's quote, "For every moment of triumph, for every instance of beauty, many souls must be trampled," carries a profound message about the bittersweet reality of achievement and success. The quote suggests that for every positive outcome or joyful experience, there may be a cost or consequences that involve others being negatively affected or forgotten.
I can tell you from my experience. When your what most people call your spirit leaves your body after death. You become energy. I have heard people talk about going towards the light when they die. I did not. My spirit was floating upward into the sky almost like a balloon. It was a clear sunny day with a few clouds in the sky. I asked my wife about the weather that day and she said how did you know. I was going towards the sun. Where I live there are two sets of mountains I could see both. There was no sound very quite. The only thing I was thinking is how beautiful it looked. People say your at peace when you pass. Well, I can say I truly understand what that word feels like not means. One would think you would be worried about your loved ones? Not me all I could feel and think about was how calm and carefree I felt. Not how I was where I was or even wanting to go back to my body. Next thing I knew I was back in my body with lots of doctors and nurses around me. There is a lot more to my story that is very strange. I came out of the hospital with permanent nerve damage. And unbelievable pain for the rest of my life. But I won't bother you all with that. This all happened back in 2013. This is the first time I have talked about my near-death experience. Just know your soul is energy and you continue on. When you hear others say he or she is in a better place now. They don't know how right they are.
Well, sounds like a massive Mushroom Trip to me tho, sounds like you have been through an egodeath. If you dont know what that means, google it. And since you are describing really that, my question here is, could it be possible that your brain emitted those chemicals so you feel that way? Since we know, that chemicals on Earth can reproduce a feeling like that? I dont want to belittle your expirience, but your brain does crazy stuff, while you are unconcious ...
I wish ppl as a whole would appreciate life more and be more kind towards ppl. Life is so short, yet can be so beautiful. But ppl usually mess it up for others
@Kenneth That’s a wise perspective you’re sharing! Lately I’ve been asking the question “what is smart?” I’ve asked a handful of people this question and their answer is always comparing one to what isn’t smart. So than I ask “if one person existed alone in the world, and with no one to compare its intelligence to, how would that person know if it’s dumb or smart?”. And this is where people get stumped by the question “What is smart?”.
Kenneth Thomas Indeed, and octopi are likely incredibly smart. But, in our own sphere at least, and in a technological sense, how many other life forms are actively exploring, and asking questions of, the universe?
DownLow Performance Inc That’s inevitable at this level and, along with war, extinction, supernovae events etc, is what determines the likelihood of smart beings getting to the next level - the window of opportunity. @@dominiccooper2753 lol The study of words is fascinating. For instance, the etymology of the word “Amen.” From the book “Smith’s Bible Dictionary. Amon, or Amen (the mysterious), an Egyptian divinity, whose name occurs in that of No-amon. Nah 3:8. Amen was one of the eight gods of the first order, and chief of the triad of Thebes. He was worshipped at that city as Amen-Ra, or “Amen the Sun.”
@@junevandermark952 amen means “so be it”. You’re taking a leap of faith by associating similar-sounding words and insinuating they mean the same thing.
@@the_abandoned_monastery7218 Christians do not own the word "Amen." The word Amen was stolen from earlier cultures, and twisted to take on a different meaning. Literary sources include the Pyramid texts, temple hymns and the Egytian Book of the Dead. This source includes a hymn from at least 2000 BCE or later that begins “Amen, amen which art in heaven...” According to Ancient Egyptian religious history, Amen is a sun God, lord of the sky and king of the Egyptian world.
@@junevandermark952 this is a logical fallacy. Something that precedes another doesn’t define such a thing as truth. Even if it were the case that the word amen were directly derived from such sources, the concept of semantic drift would easily dismantle your argument because its application has been proven time and time again to be completely different. Nice try, troll!
To understand what is going on after death you need to look at the NDE experiences. Here are some titles “Life After Death Experience (NDE) with Steve Gardipee, Vietnam War Story” “Famous Cardiac Surgeon's Stories of Near Death Experiences in Surgery” “Lawyer Encounters Near Death Experience” “Near Death Experience Documentary commonalities of the experience” “Pam Reynolds NDE” “Pam Reynolds: NBC interview about her Near Death Experience”

I’ve lost a few and damn it hurts and still does, we’ll always have them, I can’t live without my pups.
My mom had a dream when my grandpa died, her stepfather, and he came to her and said she was doing a great job of raising me and was proud of her. Now this could be a way of coping with it but most dreams are non sense. Truly intriguing how that happened
Yescbut remember it's only a dream
We dream about it things we long for and our fears. I lost my dog a year ago and dreamt about him the other night. I knew i was dreaming but didn’t care because I could hug him and pet him and hear him. It was real to me but only a dream

She looked much younger with an incredibly fit and beautiful physique. She no longer limped either and walked at a good pace, instead of slowly.

@@WinTheWarWithMe It was too beautiful to describe! Nothing is more creative than death, since it is the whole secret of life.
It means that the past must be abandoned, that the unknown cannot be avoided, that “I” cannot continue, and that nothing can be ultimately fixed.

Cloases Speaks
Life was not always like this.

My name is Pam McCagh, and I am a suicide survivor.
People used to tell me that God does not forgive suicides. I can tell you they are wrong. There is always someone waiting, waiting for that one moment of time when we feel once more the time frame of life and Death and all it holds. I have heard that phrase many times;
There is no other way to explain suicide.

Like a true scientist
Dmt you say???
...Joe?
Sheeeeeeeeit, I just hope there is no such place as Hell, cuz if there is, no amount of Christ’s blood will save our filthy souls. And of course hopefully tripping on DMT during periods of healthy life doesn’t screw up that natural release when we are about to die. That would be awful.

Ali Jbaily tbh i don’t really care if I’m unconscious after death or conscious in a happy place after death does it really matter lol
Well your first memory would be between 3-5 years old so U don’t rlly remember nothingness 🤨😂
Its harder to grasp because there will be no moment to say "there was nothingness before i..." because youre dead forever.

Kenneth Thomas that’s a wonderful thought. I’ve always thought that we aren’t even smart enough to ask the right questions.
@Kenneth That’s a wise perspective you’re sharing!
Advanced how? Like do you mean how we fuck up everything within our grasp.
@@dominiccooper2753 lol
The study of words is fascinating. For instance, the etymology of the word “Amen.”
From the book “Smith’s Bible Dictionary.
@@the_abandoned_monastery7218
Christians do not own the word "Amen."
The word Amen was stolen from earlier cultures, and twisted to take on a different meaning.
Literary sources include the Pyramid texts, temple hymns and the Egytian Book of the Dead. This source includes a hymn from at least 2000 BCE or later that begins “Amen, amen which art in heaven...”
According to Ancient Egyptian religious history, Amen is a sun God, lord of the sky and king of the Egyptian world.
@@junevandermark952 this is a logical fallacy. Something that precedes another doesn’t define such a thing as truth. Even if it were the case that the word amen were directly derived from such sources, the concept of semantic drift would easily dismantle your argument because its application has been proven time and time again to be completely different.
