Both my grandparents imigrated to America from Ireland before my Father was born. They both passed before my Father was 18. What a wise smart peaceful man was my father. I miss him so. Ive never been able to visit but I made sure my father got to go before he passed on. My mother always said there was no better man than an Irishman. She was so right. My father never had an enemy , he made peace everywhere he went. Shook hands with the cops and the mafia and they all loved him. Such a righteous man, I don't think anyone realized how much he prayed for all of us. Thanks for the reminder. Be blessed Ireland! In the name of Jesus Christ amen.
I keep coming back to this poem. I'm an immigrant, but I've been here a few years now and listening fills me with a real, powerful love of my adopted nation. This resonates so much; this is my Ireland too.
Beautiful. I write poetry. I appreciate this poet's God given talent. I also am an American of Irish descent. I spent nine months living on your western shores in county Mayo. It was a bitter sweet time. I love Ireland but she left me sad and homesick. But I miss her and love her still. May God bless Ireland and God bless my America. May God bless all the good people of this world. Times are tough but we are a faithful and resilient people. May God's love rise up and over me, over me, over me...and over you! Write more. It's wonderful!
For 24 years I have been carrying Ireland in my heart, when I first heard of St Patric's legend. This summer, my road led me to visit Ireland as a hiker. And there I felt as I I were at home: beautiful peaceful people, beautiful nature, but some shadows of the past still very painful and present... Marvelous poem and very powerful messages, Steven. Keep up the good job. Beannacht Dé ort, mo cara. Your Ireland has become our. Go raíbh maíth agat. Hope to see you someday during the Belgrade's Irish festival.
Damn my man. Ive spent a week referencing every word for my vietnames students. They dont know Mrs Brown or the Liffie. This Oad gives me 6 months of work. Love that. Superperb ❤
"This Ireland is my land, this Ireland is your land, this Ireland is our land" im really delighted to have come across this poem, ill have this in my head in a week thank you for the post. TAL
Orla Kerley very true isn’t it, branded clothing is too expensive but is sold cheap in the USA...hence why you see most people there wearing branded clothes. Like authentic van shoes, most of Ireland you see people wearing the penny’s version lol
Ireland in under 12 minutes, it truly is. An absolute masterpiece from start to finish. The pride runs through me that I am Irish every single time I hear this. If you can't be inspired for this as an Irish man ah sure ye might aswell be dead 😆 Well done SJS.. 👏👏👏👏
Canada, China, Ireland, England, France, Columbia, and about many other countries. Thank god for your brains, and your island. My island. I never meant to leave
Wonderful, beautiful words with gorgeous scenery! I’m only part ☘️ Irish, but very proud of that and I love Irish music & always have…..even before knowing I’m part Irish ☘️ very proud! Thank you for this sweet video of Ireland!!!
Such a beautiful poem. I was about to be in tears when I heard it the first time. Even tho few the words were In Irish, I think. :) Or may not mean anything to any foreigner living in this beautiful country.
What a wonderful piece of art. So powerful. The words, the background music, the shapes! oh dear! I'm not Irish, but somehow, even with this accent, even with all these insinuations, these words spoke to us all, as humans. That what it makes it unique. I remember having the same feeling when Stephen James Smith performed the epic "Dublin You Are" in the busy Whelan's last Christmas eve. His words are so strong, he got the full attention, you know, that sudden silence in a place full of people, which lead all of them to a special place, far away from where they were, deep in their soul. It was absolutely stunning, the standing ovation said it all, and hopefully I captured this moment (th-cam.com/video/x0lOAGF_6_s/w-d-xo.html).
As an American who’s like 10% Irish, I truly hope to ever be worthy of that 10%. And I hope that doesn’t sound melodramatic or sycophantic, I just mean it. ❤️
You know, 10% of you could be Neanderthal, as well......does that make you Neanderthal? You are not Irish if you weren't born here, if you haven't lived here, if you don't live here now. You are of Irish descent and you drink an ungodly amount of alcohol on "St. Patty's (cringe, cringe, cringe) Day" and wear green and try to entice girls to kiss your gobshite mouth because you have a t-shirt on that says they should, but you're not Irish. Don't ever purport to be. Don't ever hope to be.
@@janegrey8216 Hardly a Cead Mile Failte Jane ? I thought we'd got past the black & white definition of Irishness. We have cast our nets & spread our seed over many lands due to hunger & imperialism, meaning that Irishness can be & is so much more than being born in Holles St & knowing your cupla focal. I wish you were more understanding & gracious Jane, you & I have no right to exclusivity in our nationality !
The Promise Land Some died for The Promise Land. Others cried for The Promise Land. Many have toiled in The Promise Land, While palms were oiled in The Promise Land. Our children leave The Promise Land, As parents grieve in The Promise Land. Each year we cheer The Promise Land, With spirits and beer in The Promise Land, While we take from the weak in The Promise Land, To give to the strong in The Promise Land. All is well in The Promise Land, If on the right side in The Promise Land. As the ‘Lockout’ is celebrated in The Promise Land, Would Larkin have berated us in The Promise Land? And more promises are made in The Promise Land, Only for them to fade in The Promise Land.
Eating the 3rd smartest and most sensitive creatures on the planet, why not eat your arm instead? Our climate is dying, pigs trapped in dark dirty parasite filled sheds where they go insane until murdered so you can eat them, no thanks. Time to change, eat cruelty free or yourself if you desire flesh for a snack. Go vegan, it’s about time. The climate is dying.
4 years later I'd like to say a big fuck you. You genuinely must not have a whole lot going on in your life if you have to blame your problems on foreigners.

My Ireland doesn't fight 800 years for independence, just to hand it back to foreigners.
4 years later I'd like to say a big fuck you. You genuinely must not have a whole lot going on in your life if you have to blame your problems on foreigners.
We’re still getting the backlash from Tairdelbach Ua Briain rejecting Jewish bribes in 1079
There IS NO such thing as "foreigners", sir. We're all human. The boundaries are only mental phenomenon.
12 minutes of self loathing and negativity
amazing
Wow
