    I upgraded to the Studio version to access this, however it doesn't import .RFA (revit) files. In my experience, 90% of product databases have their files available in a .rfa format not .rvt. Is there a way to import .rfa without having to own Revit as well?

    • @JoshuaTays
      @JoshuaTays 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, Aaron, do you know if this is in the works? RVT support is awesome for working with consultants, but RFA would be incredible for assets, especially ones that companies haven't seen value in creating .skp files. Would be happy to even have to do some manual editing afterward just to have the function.

    Hello ,I imported a revit file in SketchUp by saving revit file into ifc file format as skecthup doesn't show .rvt format while importing ,so when I imported revit IFC file in SketchUp it got imported but the problem is the materials I applied in revit are not showing in SketchUp if I want to manually apply in SketchUp it is not possible as the whole model is acting as a simple block
    So my ask is
    1)How to unblock the model in different elements
    2) or is there any other way while importing revit model in SketchUp with safely importing the material in it

    Nice one, Aaron. I can emphasise how easy the import process is, and unlike sometimes with the AutoCAD import process, the Revit import function flys through without hiccups or items being ignored. At least that was my experience during the Beta testing for SU2023; I put it through the rigours of 15 Revit files for one complex building, totalling over 2GB, and with 100% success imported them all into Sketchup 2023 in just under 20 minutes. Bravo! That helps my workflow a lot. The thing as always to be wary of, make sure the person or company who sends you that Revit file, really understands CAD coordinates and where the building origin needs to be .... Sketchup can't correct that for you if it's wrong already in Revit.

    I would certainly get the studio subscription if it was available for Mac and also adressed proper ifc and dwg handling.The renderers and all the other stuff I dont care that much about, but ok, I would pay for them as well, and a revit importer I would use from time to time, if ifc and dwg got fixed. Ifc layers into sketchup, and 2d dwg "tags to layers" out of sketchup.

    • @kavencournoyer748
      @kavencournoyer748 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm seriously asking what the reasoning is. I work with architects and engineers who use Revit exclusively. And having them share their models with me exporting as another file format, IFC or dxf is a hack trying to sort everything out. I don't understand why only a studio user would benefit from this? Why not a pro? I think after 8 years of running sketch up it might be time to look else where. Very very disappointing. I think free versions should be geared to hobbyists. People who aren't interacting with others through there models. Pro is for, well, pros. People who are doing interactive work which involves people who use different software. So importing a file type should be a feature for a pro user. I can understand scan essentials and vray as studio only features as each is a robust and geared to a specific task that not everyone will have a need for. But c'mon importing a file type that almost all pro users at some point need to deal with, That sketch up is handling, in it's native format, much better then a converted file. Seems to be a money thing.
