Just a word of warning, when picking the razor fish, make sure they are closed, not wide open, i had an experience here on one of the beaches north of Adelaide a few years ago. Picked one up while crabbing in shallow water, only to find out a Blue-ringed octopus had made it's home in it. I quickly tossed it back, i was lucky not to get bitten. So when i go Razor fishing, i wear thick gloves and make sure the the Razors are closed. But in saying that, they are delicious and iv'e eaten them raw. Watching you cook them has given me a watery mouth, well done.
Great vid. Never tried but would love to one day. I think you over cooked them...fresh seafood should be tried raw (from the ocean) or a quick sear. thanks for sharing mate.
I am so happy more sandgropers don't know about Razor Shells! Down here in Albany we get like 3/4 dozen at a time, and eat em raw...SO much better than cooked I promise you! Flavour X 10... give it a crack bro. Also our Kalgan cockles in a spaghetti sauce will make you climb walls, so full of flavour! Great vids chief, thank you.
Thanks, another great video and inspiration for a fun activity and novel tasty treat with a glass of white wine. Years ago we occasionally collected razor shells/fish for bait at the mouth of the Port River in Adelaide. Some had pretty, but venomous, blue ringed octopus in them! I'll be using thick gloves for this.
How did they not burn the living bejesus out of your mouth?! They did look bloody good shame they don't fill that whopping shell up, stumbled across your channel am enjoying it keep up the good work 👌
There's a guy found one down this way [Bunbury], found one with a pearl in itVery few fish mate, unusual. Should have dropped a slice of bread in the pan after you'd finished cooking the Razor Clams, and done a bit of Razor Clam,Garlc Butter toast
Looks like you had a heap of fun. Not really a sustainable source of energy, as you would waste more energy swimming than what you would receive back off the meat. Unless you find a mother load of Razor Shells in one spot
