Y'all know this is just my opinion, right?
Damn, everyone’s shaving their head during this quarantine. Even Anthony Fantano
Liberation... They just need a buzz cuter with one guard. They did it b4.
Next he's gonna raise some quails.
Why did u say DAMN.,🤔🤔in the start of the sentence.
@@sherrazakhan183 Because Fantano gave it a seven.

I became a diehard Dua Lipa fan after this album. For the kind of music she makes, it does not miss.
This album is a certified hood classic. I’d bump it with the homies.
7 favorite tracks and only 1 you didn’t like out of 11. Surprised it’s not at least an 8.
That’s not how the description works. He always just puts one in the least favorite spot
Nathan Burnett He only really knocked the one song in the review. He didn’t like the last song much either but he didn’t criticize it as heavily as Good In Bed.
Never listened to Dua Lipa. I'm going to check it out.
Please check this album out. Idk if still do but I hate modern pop and only care most about pop and rock from 1963-1996. For some reason I got the feeling to listen to some of “The Best Pop Albums of the 2010s” list as I’ve been listening to Madonna and Kate Bush which are also amazing. I rate Future Nostalgia 9/10, for it’s hypnagogic melodies, catchy songs, great production, and 80s pop-inspired grooves.
@@_PuppetMaster86 wow thats literally the exact same score i gave it
Great Review Melon, but knocking it down a few points because Lipa didnt "express Nostalgia for slavery" was a bit much.
4:59 Melon busting out the melodica is in the top 5 things to ever happen in any video on this channel.
The sample was from a 1930's song, that White Town also used, but the sample didnt come from them

Kids, find someone who looks at you like Dua Lipa looks at Anthony Fantano.
He played the White Town sample and I clocked it immediately from Todd in the Shadows.
I did not realize that White Town's Your Woman was a deep cut. I was excited when I heard the sample and assumed it was well know.
you really need to review periphery's latest album "hail stan" man! would be super crazy to see you get into that
The Amount of gay icons Anthony name dropped in this review makes this he's gayest review:
Madonna, Kylie Minogue, Lady Gaga, Gwen Stefani, Carly Rae Jepsen, Spice Girls, Daft Punk, Jamiroquai, even Dua.

Just some pedantry, the sample on Love Again is from My Woman by Al Bowlly.

That White Town track was pretty big in the UK at the time
What the heck, seriously struggling believing this isn't an aprils fools joke, how is 56M plays on Spotify obscure? Until like a month ago, BROCKHAMPTON's most played songs had less than that, would he call them obscure???
Your Woman by White Town an 'obscure' track? Only in America, was a huge hit in the UK and Australia in 1997. Minus points for the music nerd
This is the MBDTF for the gays.
Good review but I don’t understand why you screamed “ALL THESE GODDAMN ALBANIANS” in the middle of it.
"White Feminist Egoism". Imma use that on a feminist one day. Better write it down. 🤣🤣
change the vinyls in the background you've had them there for more than a month
Horsys Will Kill damn youre right
When he did the melodica tune and said 'that's a weird melody for a pop song' I thought no it's not, cause White Town - Your Woman goes like that (got to Number 1 in the UK charts). 5 seconds later... yay! 😂 It's not a 'deep pull' though, it's still on the radio all the time in the UK 23 years later.

Good review Fantano, but I feel like you should actually listen to “Good in Bed” before knocking it for “not being relatable.”
Oh shit son! Goteem
this comment deserves more appreciation
I was pleasantly surprised she said "fuck" once in this song, and in the right context.
Nope, still sucks.
He didn’t say anything about “Physical” one of the best tracks on this record
RZ K Well, it’s on his favorite tracks so I think that responds to your questions
Good in bed is the best
That synth riff on Physical is just so juicy
Physical is definitely one of the standout tracks. “Love Again” is my favorite and feels like the most sweeping and epic-sounding track.
Yeah, that's insane, that music is SO good.

I really like Good in Bed as well. Dunno why, and her voice almost sounds off, but it caught my attention when I was listen through the album

It's a perfect pop record
Dua is the only modern female pop artist I listen to, and for good reason.
I would have given this a decent 8 and "After Hours" is deserving of a decent 9. It becomes more and more obvious that Anthony isn't up for anything that doesn't have to do with either Hip Hop or Rock.

How?
This all makes so much sense now
Lord Maximillius it’s overly preachy, the instrumental is like a bad cut from Taylor swifts last album, ends the album on a sour note, and doesn’t match the rest of the album too well both instrumentally and thematically.

While the last 2 tracks do not really fit sonically, it fits the theme of nostalgia and boasts her British background. "Good In Bed" is an early 2000s Lily Allen-inspired and "Boys Will Be Boys" is a Peppa Pig tribute.

Goddamnit this made my day. Thanks man.
With _Future Nostalgia,_ Dua's done in 2020 what Robyn did in 2010: made hard-driving, intelligent Pop music that appeals to all demographics.
Ok Future Nostalgia is great, don't get me wrong, but it's not Body Talk levels of perfection. No track here comes quite close enough to Dancing on My Own.
@@TheMarkoPolo2011
It's the closest to Robyn's level by Body Talk. She was 30 then. Give Dua another five years and we should see an artist at the top of her game.
@Mark Nelson, you just coward enough to admit dua did great on this album that some of the "main pop girls" are being challenged. ,
😭😎
But there's nothing personal about her music. Robyn's music felt heart wrenching. Nothing dua has released has come close to that

She's a different artist than Robyn. Gaga's _Fame_ had nothing personal, but it shot her to stardom and set the Pop world alight in 2009. Maybe Gaga would have been a more apt comparison. _Future Nostalgia_ is the new _Fame._

It was a number 1 single in the UK. Not at all obscure here.
“Your Woman” was all over the radio in like 1998 in eastern Kentucky. It was huge in my high school. I can’t imagine it’s that obscure.

we've reached a new stage in the evolution of Fantano's comment section
Damn he didn’t talk about “Physical”... I’ve been dying to hear his opinion about that one particular song. I mean even the music video was worth reviewing it has so much depth
Oddly enough I think he included it in a Weekly Roundup but he didn't like it that much... It was either in "Meh" or "Worst", but now it's one of his faves 🤪 i guess it grew on him over time/in the album's context?
Me: Wow, fantastic albums. The Weeknd and Dua Lipa did a great job with them.

Future Nostalgia is an A+ essay about mainstream pop music from the 70's to the 21st Century. As Fantano said, you can hear Abba, Daft Punk, Madonna, Justin Timberlake, Blondie, Carly Rae Jepsen, Kyle Minough and even Lily Allen (in Good in Bed) all of them ensembled.

Well now, Its not anymore if Anthony didnt give it the yellow flannel.
I mean to be fair at this point as much as I'm entertained by him, inspired by him and pretty much watches all of his videos, at this point if anyone takes what Fantano says as gospel, I feel like they're misguided. This man's made it clear numerous times, at least hundreds at this point, that literally it's his opinion. Hell, it's at the bottom of his descriptions, even lol. It's all subjective and there's nothing objective besides his direct explanations/dissection of instrumentation. everything beyond that is a dude just giving his opinion about music.

@@Mggames-ds5dm late but not good means that the entire premise of the album is so fundamentally flawed that’s it isn’t worth listening to for reviewing purposes, like Fall Out Boys Mania or Drakes Honestly Nevermind. What sets those aside from an album like Green Day’s Father of All Motherfuckers is that Green Day making a garage rock album isn’t inherently terrible, but Fall Out Boy making a synthy pop album or Drake throwing together a lazy album and putting in zero effort is.
