Pete, I am a 13 year old and when I watch a video of yours I always gain knowledge! About anything! I have a little Farmall b and I plow it it to. Thank you so much for putting out the wonderful content!
You stick with it and don't give up. I started at a young age myself and wish I could be doing it today. Pete is an awesome guy, sharing his knowledge and keeping old school farming alive. I love his videos, too. Keep farming....
Pete, this is an awesome video. Thank you so much for sharing it. It brought back so many fond memories for me. I rode countless hours on the axel, leaning against the fender or standing on the draw bar while my dad was at the wheel. He's no longer living, but I have so many hours of memories listening to the putput of our 730 John Deere, or our Farmall M, while we worked well into the night. Thank you so much for sharing your farming life with us. May God bless you richly.
That was good to see, I grew up in Maine when my father and great uncle worked the fields with horses, plowed, mowed hay, I would sometimes drive the hay rake and later drive the team with the hay wagon, oh so long ago !
@@Mugenyari Horses can do up to 15 mechanical HP worth of work for just a few seconds. The safe sustained output of a draft horse, such as when pulling a plow, is still pretty much equal to 1 mechanical HP though. That is unless you're trying to kill the horse.
I'm 79 & really enjoy seeing a knowledgeable farmer plow a straight furrow. Brings me back to my childhood watching the neighbor with his two belgians plow 30 acres. Straight as an arrow, down & back, then rest, feed & water, then go again all day. Times sure have changed.
Love your video as always and enjoyed watching the squirrel running along the wall behind you while you were doing your ending. Best wishes for you and your family.
With dry and hard ground, you could really tell which plows were set correctly and which brand did better. The Oliver and IH plows seemed to tackle the job a bit better. Always fun to watch a plow day. An art that is slowly fading away.
Because of this channel I fixed and rebuilt my great grandfathers Ford 2N with an old neighbor. I have always wanted to take it back to the county plow day. I need to make it happen! Glad to see an old ford out there getting it done
Pete I could see that you were throughly enjoying yourself plowing with the F 20. Especially since it was a field job that was new to you instead of making hay and spreading manure you got to do something out of the ordinary. You could see it on your face. Thanks for taking us along.
Nice job of getting a good mix of the tractor action and sounds. Those old Johnnie Poppers sound pretty good and even though I've never run a Cornbinder tractor they sure do sound good and are a very stout tractor. Also a nice show of a good plow operator and some with a little learning to do with the aerial shots showing some nice straight furrows and some with what my dad used to call "hog wallows." I think the thing that impressed me most was watching the 3 horse team pulling that single 12? inch plow and realizing how incredibly labor intensive it was to plow a large field then the contrast of seeing the tractors pulling multiple gang plows with ease. Great video as always, thanks Pete.
Pete, thank you so much for reminding us that we are far more alike than we are different. Farmers are what made this country and deserve to be celebrated!
I greatly appreciate the effort you put into these videos Pete. Thank you for sharing. I hope you see these comments of appreciation from all of us. I know the internet can be really toxic, I just want you to know, we appreciate you.
Thanks Pete! It’s important for us grass based farmers to remember that we’re standing in the shoulders of the farmers before us. Theres a time and a place for heavy tillage.
Love seeing the horse drawn plow,,Much to be said for the way our ancestors did it before the invention of the ICE,,And diesel tractors,,Very peaceful without the noise of the engine,,,Just man and beast,,
Well first off Hillary's great smile was great to see at the beginning, lookls like she was having fun also. nice to see some horse drawn plows there that trio of Percherons. was nice to see. and love hearing that Farmall Diesel, you're right you could hear it chugging away out there. great festivity. nice to see that old Oliver! and even that Ford N? I think it was. good variations of tractors and plows. from singles to 5 bottoms thanks for the great video/drone work the drone shots of the whole field were incredable. thanks for sharing Pete. ECF.
Pete, you have woken up a part of me that I thought went away when my Dad passed. Watching these old "work horses" run...makes my heart sing. My dad was never a farmer, but he grew up working on one and loved the field work and working with the machines/tractors and old combines. Guess that is where I got it from. I was always out in the shop with him as I grew up. He taught me A LOT and watching your videos brings back so many great memories. Thanks Pete, from deep down in my heart, Thank you. Sometimes you just need to sit and reflect and embrace old memories when they pop up in your head. I needed this more then you'll ever know. Stay safe!!
What a fun video, Pete. The ole girl done a fine job. Very interesting to see all the old iron people in the area have saved and kept alive. Great video.
Always enjoyed plowing. My Grandpa used to say " ya can tell a lot about a farmer by watching him plow." There's a lot of science to setting up the draft on a plow. Many variations depending on the make of the plow, the color of the tractors, and the guy sitting on the tractor. Another thing my Grandpa would say at a plowing get together would be "when ya see how he plows ya know how neat his yard will be." Like you the color of the plow wasn't too important for me. Neither was the tractor, as long as it was red. Growing up we had a F-14, a F-20, and a H. The F-20 and the H were both the same year,1939. The F-20 had a starter and hydraulics. The H had a starter with no hydraulics. The story was they were one owner prior to my grandfather purchasing them. He always said they were factory original. Anyway Pete, love the video. Like the old tractors. Pickup is cool too. By the way, the H was considered our "big"tractor.
When the news gets bad, just watch a bunch of old loved tractors and horses ploughing, and your heart tells you it ll all be OK. All the best and thank you, Keith and Helen.
The F20 sounds good. Time to do a resto on the Little Genius to match your tractor! Percherons three abreast on a sulky plow. Nice to see real horsepower in the mix. Your year tractor and horses might have been both still in the field back in the day.
Thanks Pete and Hillary, I do miss the days of working on a farm. My dad used to train and care take horses and my uncle in Maine used to have a dairy farm that I would go to in the summers to help out. I have a lot of great memories of farming. Thanks again.
What a Fabulous Plough Day Pete, Thanks for letting us Tag along and see all those wonderful Combos working the Soil, everybody is always saying about "Putting Food on the Table" but this served as a Reminder of how over the Years, Things Hard Working Farmers had to do to Supply the Food, God Bless and Best wishes from the UK❤😊
What a fun video Pete. I can only imagine how much fun that must have been for you and everyone there. Love the 3-horse plow rig, beautiful animals and amazing to watch. Thank you for sharing!
I’ve probably commented this before, but we loved standing on each side of my Uncle Don as he plowed. I don’t know what kind of tractor it was, but we would hold onto the big fenders. I love the smell of dirt and the sight of birds catching the bugs and worms as we went along. 💙
You Americans are so lucky to have so much traditional equipment stored in your spacious „basements“. We here in Switzerland need to make space for the new stuff and get rid of space eating but loved machinery. Just a few exhibits in some little village museums remain. Great show, well done, thank you!
Hey Pete I started plowing with a Harry Ferguson TO 30 with 2 bottom 14” in the late 60’s. I was only 11 years old. At 12 years old I actually took a tractor certification course to learn safety and proper operation. Also participated in tractor rodeo maneuvering and backing up 2 and 4 wheel trailers. Really enjoy my life on the far back then. I love watching you and Hillary doing things I grew up doing ❤️🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸☦️
Awesome video Pete. It has to be very satisfying to showcase your tractor like that after all the hard work you put into it. It was very cool to see the horse drawn plow.
I just love this! To see neighbors coming together like this and helping each other! It’s just soooo awesome! Thanks Pete to you and your family for all the great, interesting, and informative videos!
Still my favorite time of year, smelling that turned soil. There is nothing I would rather watch than a well adjusted plow turning furrows in the perfect moisture soil.
I grew up on a 1936 F20 and did just what you did. We plowed all our fields. The F20 out pulled our Super H with 2-16”s. Loved the video. Tommy , from Kansas
I’m 67 years old. Back when I was about 10 years old 13 years old, I remember my dad‘s older brother talking about how he had to feed the family back On the old family farm in Arkansas. During the great depression they sold the farm to the government and went to work in the fields in Sacramento, California. Sounds like too hard of a Life for me. 👍👍
I totally dig seeing this! Thank you for sharing it! I always enjoy your content! Makes me miss being a little girl when farms were a plenty here in NE OH. I am still praying for a farm of my own and I'm almost 61. God Bless you and your family!
Love plow day video and all the old tractors and equipment. Appreciate folks like you that have the heart of a teacher and storyteller. At 13:42 there is bushy tailed tree rat that appreciates old tractors too.
Great to see Pete! Love seeing the old iron work. You should be proud having one of the older machines there! She held her own! Especially for being the wrong color! My favorite was the team of 3 horses, but it would take forever to plow that field with horses. Your tractor is much more efficient. Glad to see that you had a great day; you deserved it!!!
Pete another great video. Having my coffee while watching this. Was interesting seeing how fields were plowed through the years. From horses pulling a plow to various tractors. I appreciate you sharing this video with us. Have a great rest of your week.
That 3 horsepower unit was pretty cool. 😉 That 826 and the big 4 bottom are just golden era units. Back when you measured the power of a tractor by how many bottoms it could pull.
Love seeing the old equipment working like this. Live in NW Ohio and they have a plow day just over the border in Southern Michigan every year. The vintage tractors are getting lost by them bringing in the huge tactors like Big Buds. I know it's to get the crowds in but the small/vintage tractors is what made farming what today is.
Hey Pete great plowing event red and green even horses wow...Hey Hilarie good to see you out with Pete on this one...having fun in what you love to do!!..ps love the music 🎶 theme at the end 😀
Hi Pete, I met you a week ago at the Farmers Market. I just wanted to thank you for the lesson on trip plows, I am buying one and putting it into service here in Chautauqua County, trying to farm with 2 nickels in my pocket and that was a 1 great tip for a guy with no 3 pt lift!
The International Plowing Match a traditional annual show in Ontario going on since 1911 is on right now till Oct 5 at Lindsay Ontario. Great show lots to see and do. Plowing at its best too. I used to plow with a 7020 John Deere with a 7 furrow Deere plow. Plowing is not a common practice anymore but a great skill to have when you need it.
Pete that old F twenty looks better than they did off the assembly lines Cyrus McCormick would be proud of you showing off his machines that where built in the twenty’s thirty’s and forty’s nice restoration Pete thanks for sharing your video
I really enjoyed this video. That would've been so much fun. The 3 horse power plow looked to be so relaxing, not hearing an engine roaring. Your tractor sounds great. I've never liked the sound of a green tractor. Thanks Pete for recording this.
One of your best in a category all its own. Hard to top this one! As you mentioned there was not time to comment but explaining the different types of plow would have been nice for your subscribers. In our area we call these "Plowaramas"; the host will have a potluck dinner at noon for the participants. Perfection Plowing in a lost art. The IH German diesel, 4 bottom semi-mounted was one of the best plowers there! We also have antique tractor rides through our driftless area on Labor Day. These activities build community and encourage historical preservation of these Timeless Irons.
Ya know a rose can sit on a shelf and look pretty, but what looks better than that is old Iron out in the fields doing what it was built for, no matter what brand ya like or what it looks like. What a beautiful seen !! Thanks, Pete and all the farmers for bringing this to life !!
Those are fun times, we did plow days for several years with horses n ponys , stopped for a wonderful potluck lunch n we had a couple make a big kettle of soup!! Awesome memories of fun times !!
Pete, I am a 13 year old and when I watch a video of yours I always gain knowledge! About anything! I have a little Farmall b and I plow it it to. Thank you so much for putting out the wonderful content!

Technically, an average horse's power is up to 15 mechanical hp. Those 3 horses are actually 45 hp in mechanical terms
@@Mugenyarithat's because the guy who defined the unit "horsepower " was trying to sell steam engines.
He fudged just a bit. 😅

She always has a great smile...like Pete only nicer..
Nice to see all the vintage tractors and ploughing machinery . Always wonderful to see the Draft horses at work!
Nothing against any of the machines but to see the horses brought a tear to the eyes

Thank You Pete.
It was Great watching all the different kinds of tractors.
Great video!! I especially loved that "3 horsepower" model.
Love these events in the farm community. Thanks for posting such wholesome content, Pete & your whole family.
Memories of me riding on the fender as my grandpa disced and plowed on his 49 Dexta tractor. Great video.

Thanks Pete for the great coverage of all the vintage machines at work, takes me back to my growing up on the farm as a young lad.
Fun time watching different tractors with their plows out in the fields. Good drone video!
Love plow day video and all the old tractors and equipment. Appreciate folks like you that have the heart of a teacher and storyteller. At 13:42 there is bushy tailed tree rat that appreciates old tractors too.
Very entertaining, Pete you definitely had the best looking old tractor!!! Thanks!!!
And interesting look back at what typical farming work might have been like "back in the day". Pete the Historical Reenactor of Farming.
I noticed your rig had some of the smoothest furrows of the bunch. You had a good match between tractor and plow. Nicely done.
uk here
yes it ran nice
straight in job done

Great job of plowing! Farmed all my life, 77 years so far, and have a good idea what it's supposed to look like. You did good!
I believe that red tractor was the prettiest out there luv your content thank you Pete
Nice variety of tractors.
loved all the antique tractors and plows!!!
Looks like you had fun playing in the dirt.😂 Some things never change huh Pete! 😂😂🇺🇲💪
Wonderful to see all those tractors in action. LOVED seeing your smiling wife! Hi to you dear! I have to say the furrows you made seemed to be deeper and more uniform than the other green machines'. Thanks for sharing...
I noticed that, too.
I noticed that as well.
Many of the other plows barely just scratched the soil !
This was wonderful. Thank you so much for taking us along👍👏👏👏👏👏😁
Hey Pete, really enjoyed watching the old tractors plowing.
Thank you, Pete and Hillary you really brighten up my day.
What an awesome day. This type of event encourages me to find an old tractor and tend to my property the way it used to be done. Thanks for taking us along.
Thanks for another great video Pete! As an old tractor enthusiast myself, I love to see the old iron out working and serving its purpose.
What a Wonderful thing! Thank You for taking me(us) along.
Had a smile on my face the whole time!!!!!!
Enjoyed??? I loved this one! Thanks for sharing another common passion.
My favorite was the team of 3 horses, but it would take forever to plow that field with horses. Your tractor is much more efficient. Glad to see that you had a great day; you deserved it!!!

This reminds me so much of hay cutting and then bailing, when I was a NC kid. local farmers would rotate from farm to farm helping with the process😍
Stuff's so sturdy and simple that it can sit in the heaviest of weeds for 20+ years and you can still just pull it out and plow 10 acres. Amazing.
Love watching plow days too. I enjoy being a participant as well. Your F-20 is certainly holding its own and it didn't disappoint.
I really enjoyed this video. That would've been so much fun. The 3 horse power plow looked to be so relaxing, not hearing an engine roaring. Your tractor sounds great. I've never liked the sound of a green tractor. Thanks Pete for recording this.
All that technology and by far the nicest, smoothest, cleanest, easiest looking to plant row is still the one plowed by the horses.
