Why does this sound like something from The Owl House
Salem AND Ozpin's fight killed the kids. (Also Ozpin straight up tried to kidnap the kids from her, which started the whole fight) So I doubt Ozpin gets any "Father Of the Year" award any time soon. Also when the kids showed their magic Salem genuinely seemed happy. The worst Mother prize is already claimed by that dead bitch, who tortured Cinder.

@@JDWalker495 Yep considered that. He might've been used as a way point, but outside of that might not have known about the actual mission itself. I think I still have the scratchpad of notes on my tablet somewhere, I'll see if I can dig it up and post it to Twitter or something.
Think Raven may have been double agent and spied on Salem to the point she can make a portal to her. Summer tried to use her power on her and went poorly. Raven ran away(perhaps Summer told her to). Though maiden is a possibility I think it would be more interesting if it was Salem.

I like how people assume it’s Qrow, when it could very well be someone else entirely.
Raven can create portals with those she has a bond with. Qrow is just ONE of those bonds. Besides, with Qrow in Vale or all over Remnant, how does Raven get back to her tribe??
Raven can have more than 4 bonds at a time. Just saying.
I really doubt Qrow knows what really happened to Summer. My theory is that Summer tried to kill Salem and didn't work and Raven either had to kill the Hound version of Summer or had to escape/choose to escape.
@@sqxbarto9229 a lot of people want Summer to be a Hound, but honestly she needs to be left to rest. Have Salem kill Summer, end of story. Raven ran away like the coward she is.
I do believe it is Qrow the are going to meet with. I doubt Raven as scattered personal bonds around all over the place. She's not that kind of person. And is certainly not that trusting. And Vernal came later as Raven treated her like a proxy daughter.
I am 98% sure it's Qrow. I suspect one of two scenarios in porting to his location.
1 - Either the three of them decided to go after Salem, thinking that between them and Summer's Silver eyes they can take her down.
2 - Or, Summer and Raven are on a mission to rescue a captured Qrow from Salem. Raven knowing she could go up against Salem herself brought Summer into the mix to use her Eyes.
I am leaning more to scenario 2, as I doubt Raven would want to go up against Salem without a good reason.
The end result being the same. Salem could not be taken down. They didn't know she was a literal die hard. She was only hurt when hit with Silver Eyes. (Skin scarring.)
The plan went south as they were being over run by Salem's minions and grimm. Summer tried to hold them off as Raven escaped with Qrow. Summer either sacrificed herself for the others, or Raven purposely left her behind. Either way, Qrow was devastated that Summer was lost while trying to save them. Probably one of the reasons he quit the tribe to stay on and work for the good guys.
Just a guess. But I might not be far off the mark.
@@DocMicrowave I’m not saying your wrong, but I feel like Raven has at least one bond we don’t know about. Rescuing Qrow might be a good one, but… I don’t know. It feels to contrived for Qrow to be captured like that, especially with his Semblance and bird transformation. Remember, he was able to outpace Tyrian with just his skills and Semblance alone. If not for Ruby, he would have outright won that fight. And if he was outnumbered, he’d just use his semblance for the opponents to hit each other or something so he could escape.
This really feels like Summer coming up with 8 out 10 steps to a plan, with her only 200 IQ maneuver was calling in Raven.
Raven is very careful who she picks her bonds with. Tai, Summer, and Qrow are obvious. Yang is a given too given how she swore to save her at least once after she became old enough to look after herself (because Neo was really on the level of a graduate Hunter, but not the level of Raven, since she GTFO’d) later on she does get Vernal, but who’s to say her limit is 5? I’m not saying she has a dozen, but maybe 6 or 7 total, given their importance by humans giving them importance…

@@RedDragonForce2 Well, I could say Raven doesn't have any other bonds. But the way the writers have been stretching (and breaking ) lore in recent volumes, anything is possible now. They could very well pull another bonded person out of a hat just to make a scene or plot line work. (They have done similar things quite a few times already.)
I am leaning toward Raven NOT conveniently porting to someone we have never seen before......... Because, it would be someone we've never saw before !
Vernal was set up. We got to know something about her. We got to see how close and loyal she was to Raven. This occurred of the course of a volume. So finally figuring out that she had a bond with Vernal so that she can use her as a port point, was not a surprise and didn't come out of nowhere.
RWBY's writing has been somewhat abysmal as of late. But I am still trying to give them some kind of credit for trying to keep the show going. That they wouldn't just pull a new bonded person out of nowhere without proper setup.
That would be low, even for RWBY.

Ozpin didn't send Summer on her last mission. As Raven said, Summer lied.
Probably isn't going to stop Ruby or Yang for that matter from punching him, poor guy's been used as a punching bag the last couple of chapters, chapter 9 was his only break.... oh wait nevermind even as a hallucination he was still dunked on, seriously this kids going to need a lot of therapy scratch that I think the majority of them are. 😭
You know what frustrates me?
It took us 10 years and 9 volumes for us to finally have a taiyangxsummer moment, and a Summer and Raven moment.
And when we do, it felt...controversial? A sting? Something.
But this is good work
Yeah, that twist did sting. After years of promoting Summer as this shining example of honesty and motherhood, suddenly we are presented with some shade.
The did something similar to Pyrrah. Another shining example of virtue. Only to be brought back in a villainous light, twice!
What is it with CRWBY turning once good characters shady, while flipping once notorious characters to the good side in recent volumes!!

@@demetriusprime1505 We all were presented with this example of honesty, good will, best wingman, in Pyrrah. Selfless, dependable and genuine. And that is the image we were left with after she was killed.
But then CRWBY decides to take her legacy and turn her villainous. She made a cameo in V9 as one of Ruby's tormentors.
Then in the DC movie, she is shown to be evil in nature by taking advantage of Jaune, then tricking him into a trap.
Yes, it wasn't the real Pyrrah. But her image is now tarnished.
But Illia, Emerald & Neo get to flip, be redeemed and totally forgiven. Despite being guilty of treachery, deceit, lying, stealing, assault, conspiracy, terrorism.... Murder!
And will never be shown in a bad light again, ever.
Seems a bit unfair to me.
Now we have "Super Mom" Summer. Apparently skipping out in Tai to go on a dangerous mission. Apparently lying and/or being deceitful in the process.
If there ever is a V10, I hope the give an logical and realistic reason for ditching Tai like that and leaving him in the dark.
At least this video gave a new interpretation on Summer possibly having some doubts and concerns. Maybe even regrets.
The OG video made it seem too easy for to lie and walk away from her family. Even Raven was surprised at that.
@DMM Tech I mean Neo made everyone Ruby knew be her tormentor... Except her team surprisingly. Now that would be a huge mind fuck because then she'd probably attack them when they're actually trying to help.
@@demetriusprime1505 Just the idea that Pyrrah was brought as an Active tormentor just didn't sit well with me.
(I wasn't even sure Neo knew Pyrrah. So there's that as a possible plot hole.)
And like I said, they did it to Pyrrah twice. Second time was in the movie.
Writers just don't like Pyrrah all of sudden.
I guess having Neo use images of Ruby's team to torment her would have been crossing a line I guess. Besides, the writers needed them to show up (and watch Ruby kill herself) so I guess it would have been problematic to show them doubled again in one place. Besides, they kinda did that already earlier in the volume.
Unpopular opinion, but I didn't really like Summer in this scene.
I know everyone blames Raven for what happened. But considering that Raven was 100% right about Ozpin, and Salem, and most of everything else, no one seems to ever think how massively unfair the situation was for her.
I mean no one believed her.
And yeah, she left Tai.
But also, Summer and Tai got together less than 2 years after that, if you do the math, which means Summer probably already liked him and Raven probably already knew that. Talk about awkward.
I can't really blame Raven for not knowing the best way to handle this, and Summer throwing in her face just felt kind of...insensitive. I mean everyone gives Raven so much crap, when the worst thing she did was leave. And they all moved on pretty quickly.
Plus Summer is doing the same thing, leaving them, without any explanation, as Raven did, for the same reason: Salem.
And that doesn't seem hypocritical? It's almost like Raven could have had more than one reason to do what she did and we just automatically assume Summer is more justified? Why?
Also people forget that Tai never once told Yang or Ruby what Raven found out about Salem, or tried to warn them about it. Or told Yang that Raven checked in on her. So she is not the only irresponsible parent here. For that matter, Qrow never did either.
Also this scene made things confusing. The way Raven talked about what happened in vol 5, she made it sound like she split after finding out the truth, which would make sense. Because then no one believed her, which she resented, clearly.
Unless your takeaway is that Summer did believe her, which would make sense, but this scene implies that Raven wouldn't have found that out until after Summer died. Also that Qrow would have known about it.
None of that tracks with them blowing off Raven's opinion about Salem.
Notwithstanding, Raven was the best part of this volume, and she's in about 60 seconds of it, but she still slays. I just think everything this volume was poorly thought out, including Raven's part in this mess. It doesn't add up.
And people hate her way more than they should, her position is pretty sympathetic overall.
omg the first part of your comment love it! I feel like Raven really is that person that knows so much about something important that's very insane to belive and when she tries to tell people how she feels or what she knows they just ignore her or blow off her opinion, only to later find out she was right about everything. I hope they do some justice about that in V10, like she told them, she warned them and they were like nah she left yang and the family why should we believe her? May I say that what Raven knows about Salem and the fact that she left are two different things (the reason why she left must have most probably been personal, saw people mention a possible postpartum depression which would explain some things). Also pointing out that her position in this war is neutral cuz she doesn't wanna deal with anyone, she saw what can happen if she joins the good guys (she lost summer) and she knows what can happen if she joins the bad guys too (getting herself and others killed). Not to mention, she might have believed in this fight before and her trust/faith was broken after the mission went poorly and honestly, who can blame her? She's actually getting pretty sympathetic to me now cuz i kinda get the things she went through, mentally, which can really change a person.
But yeah her 60 second appearance in this volume made me jump more than anything else in this volume lol.
Summer acting like she's not gonna give BOTH Yang and Ruby DOUBLE amount of trauma than Raven gave Yang ha think again girl
yeah, Raven simping does not go unchallenged, especially if you blame shift to Summer and Tai. We know from volume 4 that Qrow has zero knowledge of whatever traumatized Raven, she will not share, and Tai is also in the dark. And this scene shows us that Raven abandoning Yang has nothing to do with Salem, since Raven is not yet traumatized. So yes, Raven is 100% to blame for abandoning Yang and Tai, and for keeping the rest of her team in the dark. And there seems to be ZERO resentment here on Raven's part, and she still trusts Summer, so no, she did not tell them and was not believed, she did not tell them squat.
@@jeffreysmith236 My entire point is that this scene doesn't really make sense with what we already knew.
It no longer really matters, because I think this volume made no sense period, even with the 4 characters who are in every single season, they didn't write it very consistently.
But the impression given in volume 5, and what she told Yang, was that she searched for more information after Ozpin told them about Salem, and at some point, she figured out the truth.
What would make more sense is that she asked the lamp about it, but I don't know if that matches the timeline.
What I thought she implied was that she ditched the team after knowing about Salem. That would also align for her ditching it before Summer and Tai got together, since they only did because she left.
That would mean that her failing out with the team was part of the reason she left. And it makes much more sense with her later actions. She tells Yang that her father is a fool, and the Qrow is too far gone. That implies that her failing out with them is why she's not interested in talking to them anymore.
If that was why she left, then Summer being caught in the middle makes sense, and so for that, I agree with the scene in this volume. But what I can't see is Raven helping her do this. I also can't see Qrow being involved, or Ozpin, and who else is Raven opening that portal to?
The whole scene's logic is skewed.
On top of these issues, I think everyone ignores that Raven offered to let Yang stay with her in volume 5, in her tribe. That's a very weird thing for her to offer if she truly didn't want to be around Yang, and if she didn't care about Yang, why did she spy on her?
But why didn't she tald to her before? Why did she tell her about Ozpin being untrustworthy as soon as she met her in person.
All of it points to Raven wanting Yang to pick a side. And being angry that Qrow and Tai picked Ozpin's side. Everything she says about it points to that, not her just not wanting to be a mother.
Even their fight at Haven in front of the relic centers around Raven's conflict with Ozpin, and her putting her safety over her daughter, not that she didn't want to be a mom.
Raven's crime, in volume 5, was portrayed as cowardice. She let fear rule over love and loyalty. Adn Yang understands that. She accuses Raven of not being strong.
So I'm not disagreeing with this scene because I am a Raven simp, I'm disagreeing because I'm an analyst. The evidence just doesn't support the explanation Raven gives here, or this order of events. And the writers dropped the ball enough times in the volume for me to think they just no longer care to fact check their own show.
As a side note, Monty planned to introduce Raven in volume 2, and then had to push it back, so there's reason to think that her relationship with Yang was going to be different. But after he died, of course, they wrote it differently. If Raven had approached Yang sooner, it would also indicate wanting to be involved in her life, though not in the usual way.
Of course I know that if people are determined to hate Raven for being the "bad" guy in a very complex situation, there's nothing I can say. But it's the fans who've decided that her whole story was just being a bad mom, the show itself always implied there was more to why she left than that, and only this volume has backtracked that.
And at least she warned Yang instead of just letting her plunge blindly ahead. For my money, that's being a better role model than Tai and Qrow (though I love Qrow) who never told Ruby or Yang that Raven had suspected Ozpin was lying. Which is a fair thing to mention, when you're risking your life for the guy.
For the first canon scene of Summer and Raven, I find it a strange choice to poise Summer as borderline ungrateful that Raven is helping her, even tho she asked for her help (I Guess) and regarding the steaks. Summer is also being snide (maybe that bratty dude Qrow told us about), and it also just puts her in a bad light, and gives the viewer the impression Summer always disliked Raven.
Even if Raven hasn't made the best decisions in the past, Summer is being a shit ass.
Also, yeah, you're comment is pretty on point. I honestly think Miles and Kerry had something different planned for team strq before Eddie and Kiersi joined the team. In the companion book from a few years ago, Miles said that we would learn how team strq became a family, as we learned more about Salem and Ozpin. Their fates were intertwined.
And that has not happened, and here we are 3 volumes later and don't know anymore about team strq and nothing about Salem and Oz beyond what was in 6.3.
Also, have you ever read Raven's Amity Arena description? It's really cool and more or less canon, since it was written by the writers (probably Eddy because he's the real Raven simp).
Raven basically more or less has suffered from analysis/choice her entire life. 🫂

Well, if you consider Maria's thoughts that Magic came from God of Darkness and Silver Eyes came from God of Light, then it does make sense
Its not really like that. Silver eyed warriors are just a breed of humanity created by the god of light to fight back against the Grimm. There are no reincarnation shenanigans here. Just plain old "He/she's got his/her's father/Mother's Eyes". Ozma had nothing to do with the silver eyed warriors.
Hell if we consider that the silver eyed warriors might have already existed before the god of darkness destroyed all of humanity, then they had magic just like Ozma did (all of humanity had magic back then).
As for the maiden powers, well, we know that the transfer is different than Oz's and its just a "Here hold this Magical battery, imma go to sleep as our souls fuse, mkay?". They don't know how to use it immediately, unless if they've seen it before and have trained to eventually have it. Penny had one hell of a trial by fire, and she wasn't the most capable with the winter maiden powers, But Winter just went hog wild with them, as she had been prepared to eventually hold the power.

Also Salem is still after her ass cause she has the maidens power don’t think she wants someone as skilled and as power running around. Raven is broken maybe after what happened to Summer she couldn’t deal with it and ran away thinking If she didn’t let anyone close to her she would never feel the same pain again. There’s a lot to explore with teams Strq.
