    Something worth mentioning is that all the assists stats would've been much much better if he had better players around him. Like ik he scored 4 in the last game but he could've easily had 2 assists if Jackson was slightly better at finishing. His assist stats have been significantly curbed by the players around him, which is evident from his passing stats.

    England should build the team around this lad, and yeah Bellingham is something else, but Palmer is set to be one of the top 5/10 players in world football. Dump him in as a 10 and work from there in terms of who makes the team and how they play.
    How Foden kept him out of the England team in the Euros is a mystery, as is his failing to win the PFA last year.

    Where people will say 'Pep made a mistake', it's more that Palmer made the right choice. Pep has a world class team and it's not only about the pitch but how players gel and numerous factors. Palmer suits being in a team where he's #1 and he simply wasn't that, or would have been that, at City. Pep/City aren't exactly struggling without Palmer

      @daveyfunk 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@kingarmish Think it was all about the now though. In fairness, I think Pep realised Palmer needed to be a first team choice, but not the time with all the players that City have right now. I’ve been waiting for this video! Great analysis, I know this is a small thing but I don’t think it can be understated what a big deal moving Palmer more centrally has been. Now instead of entering the half space he starts there, which as our best link up player allows him to work with both wingers. And people can hate on Jackson all they want but his interplay, running, and physicality allows Palmer the space to work his magic.

    @GeshmanXD 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Hi Adam,
    5:32 If the data is available, you should perhaps consider using psxg-xg rather than goals-xg. Reason I say this, goals-xg still has an additional remaining variable which is the goalkeeper. It stands to reason players which face quality keepers more frequently will see more saved and thus their goals-xg metric may be skewed lower. Post shot xg instead looks at the quality of the shot that left the players foot (considering here it was directed at the goal - unsure if it takes curve into account or only placement) and does a quick analysis of what percentage of that type of shot from that position result in a goal.
    Love your videos BTW. Especially the Liverpool ones 👌🏾

    Excellent breakdown as always, Adam! When you were showing the attacking stats and mentioning the percentiles Palmer was in, did you control for only attacking players? Or was this how Palmer stacked up against every player in Europe's top 5 leagues? Either way, so blessed we have this gem of a player. KTBFFH

    Trust me, we haven't seen anyone better apart from Messi, Neymar, Ronaldo during the 10s. In the 00s competition was RIFE. However he is showing right now that he is THE next big thing. However you would have to watch him actually play, rather listening to pundits or content creators to understand how good he actually is, and how good he has been for some time now, all last season he was doing what he is doing now, but Foden, Saka and Bellingham got all the noise, despite him being the absolute standout player of them all.
    Football is just tribalism and vibes nowadays, people often refuse to believe what they say and downplay it because of bias or whatever to boost up who they BELIEVE (not know) is the best. As a fan of the game, over the fan of Liverpool, I will tell you now, that he is the bestt player in the world right now. However you HAVE TO watch him play.

      finally, a rival fan who sees through the BS... Chelsea fan here, and when Gerrard, Ronaldo, Henry were the best in their rightful eras, i did not contest it... many true fans didn't either. I hated you guys in the mid-2000s, and Torres always tore us to shreds! it didn't stop me from admitting that he was the world's best striker at the time;
      nowadays, everybody just wants to be right, whilst waving their colours, but it takes so much authenticity away from the game and creates silly internet measuring contests. as well as clickbait videos and braindead comments... anybody with half a brain, knows he's the best right now. he really is amazing to watch on a football pitch! thanks for your refreshing viewpoint

    I think he thrives in the chaos that is Chelsea. I don't think he would be as productive in a structure. Not taking anything away from him, some players need that complete freedom to play at their best.

    I feel like whilst he’s obviously a massive talent, are we not all falling victim to the usual English thing we do of putting huge pressure on these young players, comparing them to club legends like Hazard, saying they’re gonna be the best in the world etc?
    English media and fans did the same with Dele Ali, the same with Mainoo when he went through that purple patch last season (Micah Richard’s saying he’s gonna be one of the best midfielders in the world), dare I say it the same with Foden and Bellingham who are now being overshadowed in the media as they aren’t quite at the levels they were last season. Feels like it’s the same old cycle we follow with young English talents, like just give it a year or two you know 😂 Have we not learned a thing?

      @@MaticulousGamer Foden last season got pretty close? Hype for him has died down massively. I’ll eat my words if come end of this season Palmer is still at the levels he is now and has done it against the elite prem teams. I’m not saying he has to do it for 10 seasons haha, but 2-3 seasons I think is fair to make sure it wasn’t the usual English media getting away don’t you? Same with Yamal, same with Bellingham.

    • @MaticulousGamer
      @MaticulousGamer 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Spiritandvitalityplus50 yeah, good luck with that analysis mate... i guess we all should've waited on Ronaldo Nazario to do it for 3 seasons to recognise his talent? or maybe, just maybe... we all knew within 12 months, that he was a special player?

    • @Spiritandvitalityplus50
      @Spiritandvitalityplus50 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@MaticulousGamer Of course he’s a special player, as I said in literally the very first sentence on my original comment. I don’t think anybody is denying that and you’re rushing to defend something when I’ve already acknowledged it. Which is cool, you’re likely a Chelsea fan and that’s what fans do.
      But you seem to have missed and not answered to the point though of an historic tradition of English media and pundits hyping and putting huge pressure on young English talents to be the next next in the world etc. It’s an undeniable reputation they have and with some of the players they’ve done it with before, they end up succumbing to the pressure or just fading out within a couple of years. Let’s hope Palmer’s different and England find a manager who actually plays him regularly.

    • @MaticulousGamer
      @MaticulousGamer 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@Spiritandvitalityplus50 yes, many a time english players are hyped... i never buy into it. the last one who was touted, who i considered, was Dele Alli (big mistake)... but Palmer is set apart from all of them in recent memory.
