He was one of a kind!!! He was humble, ALWAYS wanting to learn from the best blues players like BB KING, BUDDY GUY ALBERT KING, ALBERT COLLINS.. All of them guys.. please keep reacting to STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN
I have watched this performance a bunch, but I was getting the shivers and goose bumps all over too! I remember back in the day how much I loved listening to every new album he released, and I guess we all took it for granted that he was going to just keep putting out more music, and then how devastating it was the day he died. He was my husband at the time's favorite guitar player too, and it was a sad day in our house for sure. I taught myself to play keyboards to his Soul to Soul album, and my husband played his guitar (and made funny guitar faces) trying to play as much like SRV as he could. How sad that all the best ones get taken away from us so young. 😮💨 But for me, Johnny Copeland stood toe to toe with SRV the best of anyone. I enjoyed his performance every bit as much as SRV's in this song. Great reaction video and thank you! 🎵💃🎸🎶
This is Awesome brother I seen the goat in 1985 at the Fox Theater in Atlanta. I’m so Blessed to see him I can’t Thank God and Jesus enough for letting me be at this concert. 🙏 Jesus has risen Amen❤️
Stevie went head to head on stage with some of the best blues guitarists of the day and every one of them had mad respect for his talent and style… BB, Clapton, to name a couple. They bounced back and forth and had a jam session on stage in front of their audiences at music festivals and Stevie didn’t play the guitar like the others… he gave that guitar a singing voice of its own and pushed his soul through that guitar and was basically having an out of body experience while on stage.
I saw Stevie Ray on his first tour. My drummers mother was a photographer for the local paper and we got to see Stevie pressed right up against the stage! I will remember that show all of my life!! It was like a tornado was loose on the stage!
He was considered a legend by the legends because the way he played and respected them he loved the ones that come before him and wanted the people that like him to experience the music and legends he listened to when he was up and coming
You mentioned what BB said about Stevie... and you also made a comment about how they played their emotions through their instruments. Here's a comment from Eric Clapton about Stevie's playing (paraphrased). He said that Stevie never had to stop and figure out where to go next in his playing the way other guitarists did (including himself) - that he was an open channel to the music, that it just flowed through him. He also said that it was very intimidating to have to take the stage behind him... that no one wanted to follow him onstage. Also, look at the videos, such as this one, where he's playing with any of the Greats of Blues music. You will SEE and HEAR the respect and love that he had for them - and that they had for him. He was humble, he was kind, and he didn't see color - he only saw PEOPLE. How I wish that after all the years since his passing that more of us could do the same. One performance that perfectly illustrates this is Life Without You live at The Capital Theater. ~ Peace, Brother.
🙌👏🎸💙🎶Great reaction! This is a master class in down and dirty blues by two of the best that ever did it. And yes these artists were able to make their guitars sing for them. There was magic going on here and the band members felt it for sure. Johnny played three songs with them that night. The one they were getting ready to do after this was "Look At Little Sister" which is a rocking jam that you would love. And please don't assume you need to filter Stevie's videos. Almost all of them are not blocked; this venue , Austin City Limits, Capitol Theatre, Toyko concert etc. One thing you need to know about Stevie is that he never played a song the same way twice as he always played in the moment. Listening to this song from Toyko for instance has a completely different treatment. Keep going as there are many more musical delights for you to discover from this amazing artist🎸🎶‼️
I still remember the day he passed away. I found out when I got home from school, and broke down crying. He was the reason I started playing guitar years before, and it was tough for a kid to have his heroes life cut so short. Great reaction my friend! Love the passion!
Johnny Copeland was a Blues artist fome the 1950- 1997, in 1956 he was a popular touring act for 20 years and his first recording was in 1956 called Rock And Roll Lily, he was known more for his singing than guitar playing. In 1981 he won a W.C.Handy National Blues Award, in 1987 he won a Grammy for his Blues album called Show Down. He was a guest he of Stevie Ray and Double Trouble at the Montreux Jazz Festival, he had a heart transplant but 6 months later he died of a heart attack on July, 3 1997. Stevie Ray Vaughan said because he never learned to read music he played from the heart, he said if he had to look at his hands to look at cords it would mess him all up. Stevie Ray never used a play list because he played from the heart he never knew what or how he was going to play until he got on stage. That just goes to show you how amazing Double Trouble was to keep up with Stevie Ray and never miss a beat was something I don't think just any band could do. Stevie Ray could play the Drums and Saxophone, on the song The Sky Is Crying from his album The Sky Is Crying Stevie Ray played the drums and guitar for that song. Love your reactions
I got CHILLS! Thank you for your reaction. There's a video with Stevie Ray Vaughan, Albert King, Paul Butterfield, B.B King and all of them playing together!!! It's wonderful. I listed their names like the video had them, so it'll be easier to find. Wish I had written down the name of the YT channel I watched it on, but it is definitely worth it to hunt it down. Lol
Sadly I had the privilege of seeing Stevie Ray Vaughn's last concert the night his helicopter crashed after the show at Alpine Valley Wisconsin August 26th 1990 The fog was so bad that we stopped and got a hotel room on the way home. The lineup was SRV, Eric Clapton, Robert Cray and Buddy Guy. RIP SRV 🎸
Now that you're hooked on SRV...please react to...Ain't Gon Give Up On Love and Change It ..Life Without You..all live at The Capitol Theatre please ..you will love each and everyone..great reaction as usual💞✌️
Thanks, Mug! Another great by SRV & collaborators.. he was a generous performer who appreciated the talent of others and gave them the time & space to show it off! (and yep, we DO need the vocals...)
SRV practiced constantly. He listened and learned from his brother Jimmy but his biggest influence was probably Albert King. He was humble. He was wide open to the universe and there was no static. Just pure truth and faith to the muse
Austin City Limits in 89 show was his last one there before his passing in 8/90. He was sober for a couple years by then. “Look at Little Sister”is a must see. He played on strings way thicker & much harder to play for most. He could still bend them strings & make ‘em sing & break them often. In Voodoo Child he bent the hell out of ‘em & in “ Mary had a Little Lamb” which is one of my favs. Congrats on going down this SRV rabbit hole. He never disappoints. Enjoyed your reaction & now I want to see this whole show. I think they did 2 more songs after this one. I’m going to look right now for it.
Filled with a SUPERSIZED double portion of raw talent and imagination from God, Stevie Ray Vaughan taught himself guitar {SRV was 7 y/o. 7!!} and played with "straight feelings" from way down deep in his mind, heart, flesh, body, soul and fingertips brother. The greatest actor in the world could not fake, improvise or ad-lib the same reactions Stevie's body had with every pluck of the guitar string.
Same here. Once he first put that hook in your ear, you'd make damn sure you were there, next time he came around. And then, one god-awful day, you learned that opportunity would never be there again. 😔
I’m telling you Mugnify, SRV’s version of “👏🏽Mary had a little lamb” is so much rocking fun. Just make sure you get the version of him in the black outfit so that you can experience the keys of Reese W. He is on the keys, as to what Stevie is on the strings! I’m telling you…based on your reaction to Phil Collins live, you will be thanking me. I’ll just take this time to say “You’re welcome,” in advance…..
If it was not for SRV the blues would not be as popular as it is today He gave this music all he had This man had soul running through his vains Eric Clapton and BB King both said that SRV was an open channel of music BB King said it will be a long time before you see another person with this much talent I got hooked on the blues when I was 14 years old I was at a party and someone was playing a Muddy Waters album on and I have been hooked on the blues ever since and I am 53 years young now I a miss this man so much I seen him live in Daytona Beach in 1987 You should pull up this concert and watch him play the song Ain’t Gonna Give Up On Love It’s so fire
As a young man, I was privileged to sit in a one on one with Sun House. He said “The Blues Ain’t nothin’ But A Low-down Shakin’ Chill, if you Ain’t Never Had ‘Em, I shure hope ya Never Will”. Stevie had a way of finding that within us, and bursting that bubble of pain. If you meet your pain, and cry, you will feel better after.
Eric Clapton said of Stevie, when people hear him for the first time it makes them want to go out and buy a guitar and learn to play, but those of us that have played with him, makes us want to quit.
SRV never played the same song in the same way This man was special and I think about all the great music we missed out on when he was taken away from us This man had soul running through his vains If you want to see another great performance Watch him live in Daytona Beach in 1987 perform Ain’t Gonna Give Up On Love It’s so good Plus I was there The whole concert was bad to the bone But if you watch SRV you have to watch him live How many people can you say that they sound better live than in a studio
This always makes me want to pour three fingers of bourbon into my favorite tumbler. (Cancer in the liver sucks; it makes you want to cry in your beer and takes away the beer.)
Stevie had his own technique. When we learn guitar we are told to keep our thumb under the strings. Stevie used his thumb to mute strings. Watch their hands.
He was one of a kind!!! He was humble, ALWAYS wanting to learn from the best blues players like BB KING, BUDDY GUY ALBERT KING, ALBERT COLLINS.. All of them guys.. please keep reacting to STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN
The real kicker is, all those legends respected Stevie back!
Man there's never been another like SRV. A true legend and a humble man !
One of the best performances ever. Perfect
Stevie was actually smiling because Johnny forgot his part. They crack up over it at the end.
Yeah, but it's a happy accident because Johnny just let his guitar do the talkin', sayin' everything we need to hear.
@@olddog330 Facts. .....
It was a very cute moment. ....
"Do we even need vocals?" Lmao!
Of course we do... how else would we know what kinda place an alley can be?
RIP SRV and Johnny ❤
SRV ~ 🎸🐐 The goatiest goat in all of goatness

Stevie's guitar was a direct reflection of his soul. It's more than his playing ability it's the feelings he communicated through that guitar
Stevie went head to head on stage with some of the best blues guitarists of the day and every one of them had mad respect for his talent and style… BB, Clapton, to name a couple. This is, in my opinion, the GREATEST live performance ever. The entire stage was on fire that night.
This is when SRV is at his best when he has one of idols beside him on stage.

So glad you went down this rabbit hole. SRV was a genius. He should not be forgotten.
I wish you could have seen him live... It was like being struck by a bolt of lightning
Johnny did a great album with Robert Cray and Albert Collins that is awesome
Stevie went out of his way to always shed the light on who he played with. ❤❤❤
My favourite artist of all time. Hi from Ottawa Canada
I tell every reactor to do this one. It doesn’t get any better. A masterpiece of a performance 🔥
I saw SRV live 6 times, it was a spiritual event every time!
His spirit and the guitar are ONE !!!
Blues Royalty!!! SRV was a freaking wizard! Johnny bringing those nasty vocals too. Come on!!!

Love watching your reactions to SRV. Lord, I miss that man & his guitar.
Yes, we need these vocals. They're telling the story of Tin Pan Alley. Love this song and version. It's an adventure with a warning.
Listen to this EVERY day out in my workshop. Great, Great tune. I don’t get much done.

Stevie RayVon was the man. What a great soul.
Nothing better than two greats playing together and making musical magic :)
Thank you. Great reaction. Much love.
Stevie was a Great Human Being. I miss him everyday. Because of his goodness, I have to believe God needed him.
I wish I could have seen him in person. I was in Dallas. He was in Austin. Love this man. Died too young.
You can Stevie yelling "Yeah" during Jonny playing his solo.
That's what I'm saying I'm a 59 year old man and heard it all this performance was the best ever!
SRV practiced constantly. He listened and learned from his brother Jimmy but his biggest influence was probably Albert King. He was humble. He was wide open to the universe and there was no static. Just pure truth and faith to the muse
Stevie didn’t play the guitar, the guitar played him.
Copeland voice is liquid gold and some smooth bourbon
You just listened to the GOAT! 😎🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Johnny Copeland's voice is great in this clip.

Just a note that feather in his hat was given to him from Jimi Hendrix, he (SRV) played and learned from all the great black blues players...

Really enjoyed this version of it more than the other very smooth
And I got Sirius radio and still I listen to the song every time I get in my car oh yeah and I got the DVD too I'm hooked on it.
One of the all time stanky nasty blues masterpieces.
Eric Clapton said of Stevie, when people hear him for the first time it makes them want to go out and buy a guitar and learn to play, but those of us that have played with him, makes us want to quit.
Might I suggest 'Look at little sister' with Jeff Healy, Stevie and him absolutely kill it!
Can we even imagine what Stevie would have become!!!
Yes. 100% feeling.
BB Kind said that,"Stevie Ray Vaughn was the blackest white man he ever met."

One of One.
Another good slow blues by Stevie is Dirty Pool. Nasty!
stevie is also known for playing with bass strings aswell
Also from capital theater do scuttle buttin and say what he starts the concert out with that also couldn't stand the weather from capital theater to
Johnny Copeland "Flying High" is a good one.
WOW WOW WOW 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

S tevie couldn't read music. But he's still the GOAT. Nice to see young people enjoying Old School music.
Great reaction 🙂
SRV controls his voice just as he does his guitar
This always makes me want to pour three fingers of bourbon into my favorite tumbler. (Cancer in the liver sucks; it makes you want to cry in your beer and takes away the beer.)
God called SRV home early to give us all something to look forward to.
RIP SRV
🤠🏞️🐂
Performance from 85 and it keeps going on strong some people get it a little late like me like 10 years gone.
The reason they were laughing at the end was Johnny forgot the words.. SRV best decision was to hire Resse (keyboardist).
We all got the blues in us.
These guys are so lost in time playing, I bet they don't remember it. You go to another world and play with heavenly people when you are this level.
ya feel that!
Everyone should have to listen to the blues just so they understand life ......
Stevie had his own technique. When we learn guitar we are told to keep our thumb under the strings. Stevie used his thumb to mute strings. Watch their hands.
They go into "look At Little Sister" after that!!!
Stevie’s brother Jimmy said Stevie played the guitar like someone breaking out of jail
Unreal
Next try " life without you " capitol theater NJ 1985 and notice the guitar swap
Johnny skipped a few versus. He's got a powerful voice He's an awesome guitar player. Stevie and Johnny sound great together.
