    I absolutely Love AFF cast iron cookware ! Great seeing it show up jn one of your videos. Also, they used to have even smoother surfaces, but seasoning ended up being a challenge. They finally found the ideal sweet spot between a piece that seasons well, and that is as smooth as they could get it before seasoning becomes a bit of an issue.

    Luis. Nice looking skillet & press. I agree with you, it’s a good thing that the wooden handle is removable on the press. Will be waiting to see you use these….Dan

    My only complaint would be no hole in the handle. Most of my skillets hang on a nail or s-hook so it couldn't be stored with them. The handle reminds me of nest homeware but they added a brass loop for hanging.

      Yes I totally agree. I also like to hang some of my skillets. I have yet to own a Nest Homeware Skillet. Might consider a review. Thanks

    Let's get a cooking video on this beauty!

    I ordered this skillet honestly based on this video. Mine spins on the countertop. I have a glasstop style electric stove and it also spins on the stovetop. Has anyone else had this problem with this skillet?

    • @luisj.castironcooking
      @luisj.castironcooking  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      This can happen with any cookware. It might be the heat you are sweating on your cooktop. Generally I like to slowly heat up my skillets on a medium low heat and that usually helps during the cooking time. Also I wait about 5 mins to warm up and use.

      @@luisj.castironcooking nope this skillet spins at room temperature burner wasn’t on. Spins on countertop too. I will say they were excellent about replacing it. Replacement is great and doesn’t spin.

    You seem to have any and every piece of CI there is out there! Looking at your collection, what are the top 3 you love to cook with and would keep if had to get rid of the rest? I am looking for my next purchase and would like to hear your answer!

      Definitely Smithey, Finex and Field Co. are my favorites to use. But one I would never get rid of is Lodge

      I have and it’s great my only complaint is the handle design. It’s sold and heavy which adds unnecessary weight. If they drilled hanging holes on the handle it could possibly alleviate weight and balance of the skillet.
      The surface though is one of the best because it’s extremely smooth but it’s micro textured

      @@luisj.castironcooking im trying to decide between Austin Foundry, Field and Lancaster.

    • @luisj.castironcooking
      @luisj.castironcooking  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Field is in between both and is probably the “best” option in the sense that they have many things to offer. Lids, leather handles holders, seasoning compounds, cookware utensil and even sets. While Austin foundry and Lancaster are very good options, they lack accessories.
      Lancaster has the most vintage appeal and very true to the simple design from early American cookware.
      Austin foundry is in the modern spectrum and has many design elements which bring some well needed updates to the cast iron pan.
      Hope this helps a bit into your decision. Thanks and take care

    I just stumbled across your channel today, and am enjoying your reviews of cast iron cookware. One thing that you may want to consider changing in future videos is your word 'ergonomical' to 'ergonomic', please! Otherwise, nice work.
