    It's maaagic on bass! Always works great on harsh fas transient midrangy instruments such as brass horns due it's mellow and slow character. Was surprised how good it sounded on the snare when just kissing the needle!

    Very nice. Added some nice harmonics and velocity to every thing it touched .Made a nice difference even
    Before gain reduction. Very surprising how well it did with kick and snare.

    Could this be the device that the sound engineer used to finish Todd Terry's songs?

    Hey Dr mix.. how do you do you’re routing so that you can route all the separate channels to the same compressor? I have an Midas M32 and ableton. Is it that you choose the same channel out on selected track in cubase? And then route it back in.. I can see you got it on every channel..

      We thoght that with ore percussive instruments, but then on vocals not so much

  • @ElsweyrDiego

    i don't know if i have the ears to hear it but sincerely all i hear is the sound getting louder / quieter, no more differences. i need to practice my ears :(

    • @ElsweyrDiego
      @ElsweyrDiego 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      by the way i have good soundcard and setup to hear good audio source.. even so i can't make any difference besides sound volume with not only this, but every compressor.

    • @Doctormix
      @Doctormix  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      well if you look at the meters on Cubase it's not actually louder... It's more the perceived loudness. But want you really want to listen to is how the texture and character of the sound changes. Try with headphones :)

    • @ElsweyrDiego
      @ElsweyrDiego 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes, i have monitor headphones with balanced sound and monitor 2.0 on my pc.. i really can't hear any differences besides loudness. i already tested many compressors on my DAW on my pc. no luck.

    • @luancav
      @luancav 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Maybe do you have to understand what the compressors do with the sound. And what it do with different sounds. Like, with vocals they have a whole different result on the way we perceive the sound that on kick drums for examples. Is all about shaping the dynamics. On vocals, can bring a effect of more attitude.

      Amongst other things, it does add some valve sound which will tend to make things sound a bit warmer. It is quite subtle though, unless you're listening specifically for the signature of that valve sound. Having too much character in a compressor can limit its usefulness, but try them at extreme settings and you'll definitely hear the difference. For example, program a high freq chord with a deep subby bass, and stick a single band compressor on the master channel. You'll hear the compressor kicking in for sure, ducking the chord out as it hits.

    it sounds alot like the CLA-2A plugin from waves

    • @richiefamus8778
      @richiefamus8778 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      This sounds nothing like the Waves Plugin. Well of course everyone is entitled to their opinion, but you wouldn't say that if you had one at home and A/B against waves plugs. UAD doesn't match it either. Plugs may capture the compression very nicely, but the imaging of hardware is different, thicker, warmer, bigger.

      But if the difference isn’t notable to anyone outside of a studio setting then I’d the difference significant?
      That’s the thing sometimes the difference is more noticeable in person in a certain setting, yet if that thickness doesn’t translate on streaming and websites the way 99 percent of people listen to their music, then the device becomes obsolete in that sense.
