  • In this video I'm sharing with you my PGCE folder! I talk through what a PGCE folder is and how I organised mine and also show you lots of examples of evidence that I included. Of course this is personal to me and to the course I did, but hopefully it helps you if you're putting your PGCE folder together too - good luck!

    Omg thank you so much for sharing! This has definitely put me with ease as I was constantly overthinking how do you evidence teaching and making progress.
    Would also like if you made a video in the future different activity tasks that compliments with the PowerPoint slides etc. I legit lack creativity so I feel like I’ll probably take time in thinking tasks for students to compete (main tasks mainly).
    I’ll be starting my pgce this September teaching psychology and other social science subjects (sociology, HSC etc) 😊

    Great video! I start my PGCE in D&T this September. For a while i've been wondering how and what sort of evidence you need to produce over the training year. Thanks!

    Amazing and very useful. How many examples did you put to each subsection of TS? (Sorry if I missed this part).
    Waiting for more :)

    • @brokenchalksofia
      @brokenchalksofia  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks Justyna! About 3-5 pieces of evidence per teaching standard.

    Very informative video. Thank you. 2 questions: at 11:53, for TS1, did you show those slides (Classroom Expectations, Routines) to the pupils in the class? Like were they a part of the lesson, perhaps at the lesson's beginning?
    At 18:10, for TS 7, you showed pictures of board showing praise, detentions etc. So did you take those pictures during the class, or after the class got over? When should this be done?

    Thank you for sharing your experience, Sofia! Hope you don't mind me asking, did you include all evidence for your placement schools in one folder or did you separate them?

    Did you put placement 1 and 2 evidence is the same file or was it separate? x

    • @brokenchalksofia

      Same file to show the progress :)

    • @kelly-gl1yy

      Sorry I didn’t make it very clear. In terms of evidence for each standard. For example if you had evidence for standard 1 from placement 1 and standard 1 from placement 2 did they both go in the same section (standard 1) or separate standard 1 sections? x

    • @brokenchalksofia
      @brokenchalksofia  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kelly-gl1yy I see! All went into the same section and I just annotated each piece of evidence. I think I did put it chronologically though it shouldn't really matter too much!

    Thanks for the video! How long did it take you to become Head of Biology?

    • @brokenchalksofia
      @brokenchalksofia  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I became Head of Biology after my first year of teaching. Everyone's journey is different though - I had worked before going into teaching which helped I think.

    Is it possible to do a PGCE in chemistry (I’m assuming I will teach all sciences tbh) to become a part time tutor? ☺️ I feel I have a desire to teach in some aspect but the behavioural aspect may not be sustainable long term ✨

    • @brokenchalksofia
      @brokenchalksofia  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think it depends on the school and also on your own professional development - don't let behaviour be the reason you don't become a teacher. If you love teaching and you enjoy young people, then worth trying a PGCE. Perhaps get into a school to observe and speak to staff and have a chat with some training programmes?

    Love it ! How do you make time to do all this? I know they say to do it as you go along but I feel like I either have so many sheets or by the time I finish teaching one lesson I’m panicking on what il be teaching next etc, help🥲

      You'll have time - carve out pockets of time as the weeks progress and then one big chunk towards the end of the year :)
