People are being so obtuse about this. I’ve birthed and breastfed 3 babies for a year each. I’m 33 now so your 20s are like party time etc but guess what, I didn’t bring my breastfeeding baby everywhere with me. I had to make hard choices about my wants versus the baby’s needs. This was not an appropriate situation for the baby, it was distracting to the performer and therefore ruins the night for everyone else. If you need a night out but can’t leave baby at home go somewhere else like dinner maybe?? Also a 7 month old baby is more than capable of going without breast milk for a couple hours… it isn’t a newborn needing to feed on demand. Just attention seeking because she was embarrassed for her poor choices.
I went to an open mic recently. Was a smaller gig, only 30-50 people or so. This one dude brought his kids (aged roughly 7-12 years old). No idea why the organisers let them in, but every single comedian preceded to ask the Dad if they could say certain jokes. And some even cut sets short and didn’t swear or say certain jokes because the kids were there…
It was a 15+ only show. She breached that rule. As the first rule of equity says, you must come with clean hands, she didn't...so as Willy Wonka said, "You lose, you get nothing, good day sir"
I don't bring my barking dog to live shows, it's called babysitters and planning things around your own situation. Had a baby that needs constamt care and cant be controlled? See the show 10 months larer when the baby dosnt need constant vocal attention. There are still plenty of places you can take a baby that dosnt disrupt other peoples paid experience
The bit at 11mins 03 sec when you shout "however, what the F*CK does that have to do with disrupting people at a show?!" 🤣 Haha that made me laugh my bits off! Dude, you really crack me up!!😂👌
Spot on, you made the choice to have a baby and you have to accept some sacrifices for that choice. I think in a THEATRE you need to sacrifice if your baby is being loud and ruining the experience for everyone else. I'm a new father as well so dont feel this is a completely biased view.
Another hot take: If you have a one-year old there is absolutely no reason to take him on a plane and fly on vacation. You can live without going on a 16 hour international flight for 3 years until they are grown enough not to cry for the whole trip. It should literally be illegal by law.
Not a hot take at all I reckon! Personally I think it's just as cruel to the baby as it is to other passengers. The cabin air pressure shift is painful for the baby and they don't understand why their ears are hurting, just that it's happening. Unless you're one of those parents that drugs them with phernergan or whatever, of course they're gonna cry and scream. Only time I'd say it gets a pass is if it's a non-recreational trip that can't be postponed until the baby is older and less sensitive. Otherwise, if you truly must have a holiday, road trip or cruise it, full stop.
@@RaptorGoesRAWR But even if it is a non-recreational trip, my question would be why the baby has to come with them. Nannies exist, time off of work exists, and at this point you are talking about medical emergencies which would be ridiculously unlikely. Why not take a cruise with a baby or something along those lines, the gentle wobble of a boat is actually soothing for them. I for one cannot imagine any scenario in which I would say that taking a baby on a plane is appropriate.
tbh 3 years isn't enough to solve that. I had an over-night flight behind me, someone had a kid, maybe 7? Who kept complaining increasingly louder while we were trying to sleep. At least the dad was trying to control him, but the mother was listening to some movie with headphones on and kept sporadically laughing. I was too tired to even tell her off.
Regardless of what happened, who tf brings their baby to a comedy show? That's hardly an environment for a baby, it's loud, there's probably alot of bright lights. It's just not an environment for a child especially not one so young. Everyone pays their ticket, so they should be able to experience the show without being disturbed.
@@cluckendip I reckon you might be onto something with that one mate. Since this was clearly a slow news day, he could call it something like bimonthly dull?
Hang on a second, why'd you pronounce "caveat" wrong?? You said "Cay ve et", I would say "Ca ve at", and personally I found this a bigger issue than Arj kicking out a breatfeeding mother at a comedy show.
This is exactly why I wish people would get off us parents who let our kids use an iPad out to dinner … I’m not doing it for me ma’am I’m doing it for YOU! My kid is loud and annoying and while I love them I am not oblivious to the fact that not everyone wants to fucking listen to them go on and go about Bluey at the same noise level as a chainsaw 🤦♀️
I would love to hear what situations you've had to remove people from your show. Love the vid as well, always good to see someone taking into account both sides of the story :)))
Hello Lewis, I understand you heard about 500 people in a theater laughing and clapping before. In your expertise, would you suggest putting a baby in the middle of that? I'm reading something about 90db being able to cause causing permanent hearing loss for babies, but what do I know.
I totally agree with you. If I paid good money to see your show,I'm entitled to watch it free from distractions or at least as distraction free as possible. Its not illegal but its just not the done thing to disrupt actors in a theatre or musicians at a concert ( more like a classical music gig, not a slayer show) by getting up and leaving during the performance, neither is creating a ruckus at a comedy show. Can ruin the timing and flow of a show and that's disrespectfully the comedianand the audience
It's stories like this that make me glad not to own a tele anymore. This countries media is just one ridiculously exaggerated dumb unnecessary story after the next. Why is this even on national television? Dumbfounded by it all really.
According to Arj she was 3rd row back, and he couldn't see she was breastfeeding. The baby was being disruptive. Breastfeeding mothers can express milk and get a baby sitter... this mother is an entitled annoying lady. Arj was in the right!!!! Mothers can go out and enjoy themselves... getva baby sitter or go to a kid friendly thing like a wiggles concert!!
Okay - this mother is deliberately breastfeeding in every interview, in my opinion. One could almost say it's contrived for effect. Me, me, me - emblematic of many in society, today.
went to an arj barker show in tanunda, was about 12 of us in the audience when the lights went on he only went on about how bad his career has gone. he did have some funny material tho
Literally all the videos I can find on this are saying he is copping backlash, but I literally can't find one person online that is on this woman's side at all
I saw the news segment on TV and I couldn't understand why someone would even bring a baby to a show. Even if the baby is was well behaved, its a ticking time bomb before it screams, needs to be changed, etc. But even if everyone else was somehow ok with this, a crowded, loud, dark show is not an appropriate place for the baby itself, let alone an adult show. And then she decides to be the baby and throw a tantrum. Skews the story and whinges on radio and national television. Because this is totally news worthy and she totally didn't do any wrong. I really don't like the Project, but sometimes they are hilarious in the most unintentional ways.
The fact that the child had to be removed from the interview itself proves how justified the guy was for kicking her out Babies are important, yes, but they are also extremely loud and cause disturbance everywhere they go. That’s acceptable in many places but not acceptable in some, especially those where your sense of hearing is important…like a comedy show Most mothers are responsible enough to realize this and will (temporarily) leave the set/theater/cinema to calm their kid down and get it to stop making loud noises. If the kid can’t stay quiet, it shouldn’t be allowed in there. Do whatever you want as long as it isn’t negatively affecting anyone around you. Loud children in enclosed spaces do.
Who the fuck even want's to bring an infant to a comedy show? Probably one of the last places I wanted to bring my 10 month old son to... There's nothing for a baby to do there. A place where you can't move around, it's most likely dark where you sit, and you have to be quiet... some people...
her not realizing that she feels like the baby is louder in her completely silent room compared to a show where 700 people are laughing points to me that she doesn't stop to think for a moment about what she's saying and only goes by feel. No shit your baby didn't sound as loud when 700 people are making other noises, learn how tf your brain works (it doesn't).
I would have liked to see some discussion into parallels to other comedians who have had various interuptions during their sets. Luke kidgel comes to mind, I beleive he had a clip surface of a baby/toddler at one of his shows, he also has had a handful of people with torretts at his shows - you'd have a better idea of how much that actually occurs compared to clips he might put out (my only real point of reference would be Adelaide shows his done) Wild how much this has been on the "news" though, such a non story thats been repeated heaps with bad info.
You cant talk off mike at the Athanaeum at the comedy festival. They haven't got the time to leave the stage, you're on the clock. Even the audience has to go out the back so they have time to get the next audience in.
Legit not winning me over with that crying infant during an interview. How are people defending this behaviour? Just like breast feeding in a park with more than yourself and a child it's probably not ok or changing them Infront of other people. Has nothing to do with mothers ability or anything it's just... social behaviour I can't drop my dacks in a park and expect not to be arrested why is there such double standards around this... there's change rooms for a reason or whatever. Putting everyone else's experience at risk purely for their own selfish needs is not on
Why on earth would it not be ok to breastfeed in public or change a baby's nappy if you're somewhere without a changing station?? Are you American or something?
Show your dick off randomly, and feeding a child, aren’t the same thing. You shouldn’t have to make your newborn not eat, just because people aren’t okay with seeing a bit of boob. The problem wasn’t her feeding her baby, how do you watch this and come to the conclusion of “yeah she bloody shouldn’t feed her baby”? Like that was not the point at all
@MADagain Almost no one is defending her. The show was advertised as 15+. She broke that rule and the only reason she got in was before venue staff did not enforce the 15+ rule. Arj just made sure his audience got what they paid for, a 15+ show. Breast feeding anywhere is fine. There is not a change room available everywhere. The baby is hungry, no rational person would deny the baby food. There's a world of difference between a baby's junk being exposed and an adults junk being exposed and why you'd probably get arrested and no one would bat an eye lid at a kid with no pants on and that dose not create a double standard.
Parents need to learn to get a baby sitter or let their parents watch their children while they have them time. It’s better for the parents and children
Comedian Arj Barker is in big trouble for... removing a crying baby that was ruining his show? Okay.

Dude, you really crack me up!!😂👌
I love these rants!
So glad you're back Lewis!! I am loving the style and vibes of the new vids - immaculate and very entertaining 😊😊😊
Spot on, you made the choice to have a baby and you have to accept some sacrifices for that choice. I think in a THEATRE you need to sacrifice if your baby is being loud and ruining the experience for everyone else. I'm a new father as well so dont feel this is a completely biased view.
Hey it’s Arj Barker from Flight of the Concords!
Another hot take: Tough shit, I gotta deal with a crying baby 24:7 you're just going to have to deal with it for the next few hours of the flight.
tbh 3 years isn't enough to solve that. I had an over-night flight behind me, someone had a kid, maybe 7? Who kept complaining increasingly louder while we were trying to sleep. At least the dad was trying to control him, but the mother was listening to some movie with headphones on and kept sporadically laughing. I was too tired to even tell her off.
@@Axemun That's not a hot take. That's just you being an a-hole.
Woman couldnt even control or prepare her baby for a TV interview that is probably MUCH shorter than a whole comedy show.
Feeding in the interview, definitely not planned at all.
I think everyone has encountered that move out of the fucking way i have a kid person. Trust me they were shitty selfish people before they had kids.
You did a great job humanising this woman while explaining your position I think
Regardless of what happened, who tf brings their baby to a comedy show? That's hardly an environment for a baby, it's loud, there's probably alot of bright lights. It's just not an environment for a child especially not one so young. Everyone pays their ticket, so they should be able to experience the show without being disturbed.
The entitlement is strong with this one 😂
No Infants permitted, sounds like you have a new name for ur next tour
"Hey parents..... leave your kids a home.'
It's probably too long to a show title though.
@@justinm2697 “No Infants Permitted” is my proposed title
Yooo, Lewis Spears coming to the uk? I’m so hyped, definitely gonna try and be there
you should start a news series....
maybe something regular but not too regular, like bi-monthly?
@@cluckendip I reckon you might be onto something with that one mate. Since this was clearly a slow news day, he could call it something like bimonthly dull?
And maybe do it on say... a Bi-Monthly basis?
@tally5k339 how about bi-monthly bulletin? No that's too much of a mouthful. There's got to be a way to shorten that
@@iamseamonkey6688 lol
lewis please bless me with tall legs
Oh boy I was so hoping you do a video on this 😁
Can we all have a moment for the dad, may he rest in peace and hopefully get out alive.
“Lewis Spears - Shame, Shame!”
You should use this as the name of your next show 😂
We were at the Leadbeater hotel last Saturday. Great show and we’ll see you next time…
Very glad you're back you've made some good videos
Was waiting for Lewis to cover this, made for him!
Mothers being allowed to have fun is such an Aussie thing.
No infants permitted? Seems like you're going to have a lot of vacant seats 😢
Brutal 😂
Good one 😂
Babysitter discovery will change everything
Hang on a second, why'd you pronounce "caveat" wrong?? You said "Cay ve et", I would say "Ca ve at", and personally I found this a bigger issue than Arj kicking out a breatfeeding mother at a comedy show.
love the new set 🔥
This is exactly why I wish people would get off us parents who let our kids use an iPad out to dinner … I’m not doing it for me ma’am I’m doing it for YOU! My kid is loud and annoying and while I love them I am not oblivious to the fact that not everyone wants to fucking listen to them go on and go about Bluey at the same noise level as a chainsaw 🤦♀️
They should have been the target for the show until she left from shame... Although I suspect she doesn't have the ability to feel shame.
Can ruin the timing and flow of a show and that's disrespectfully the comedianand the audience
its been 5 days of no sleep Lewis, i wonder how you survived for so long.
It's stories like this that make me glad not to own a tele anymore. This countries media is just one ridiculously exaggerated dumb unnecessary story after the next. Why is this even on national television? Dumbfounded by it all really.
I can understand breakfast television covering it. Those show are all about fluff.
I feel very uncomfortable about going somewhere without my bagpipes, so please understand if I decide to play them during your next comedy show.
Literally all the videos I can find on this are saying he is copping backlash, but I literally can't find one person online that is on this woman's side at all
nobody is exept the delusional writers and news hosts, even then its probably just to bring their brand some attention
i've never stealthy gremlin laughed so hard at 4:54 am than rn when i'm watching this, alpha male detected got me every time
why is my manifesting of a brisbane show not working
But why did he turn into johnny sins! 😂😭
Now here we go haha
Super creative composition and editing. More of that style 🦍
Personally, the best bit about going to the cinema or any live show are the screaming children. Goosfraba.
The fact you had a baby doesnt make you special in the first place. You signed up for this.
That women's hairline is worse than mine!
The fact that the child had to be removed from the interview itself proves how justified the guy was for kicking her out
Babies are important, yes, but they are also extremely loud and cause disturbance everywhere they go. That’s acceptable in many places but not acceptable in some, especially those where your sense of hearing is important…like a comedy show
Most mothers are responsible enough to realize this and will (temporarily) leave the set/theater/cinema to calm their kid down and get it to stop making loud noises.
Why isn't the Baby's wellbeing part of the issue? Surely the baby would hate being in a cold noisy theatre.
Hiring babysitters is too hard i guess
Her argument was her baby could only be breastfed and had to be with her.
I would have liked to see some discussion into parallels to other comedians who have had various interuptions during their sets.
Luke kidgel comes to mind, I beleive he had a clip surface of a baby/toddler at one of his shows, he also has had a handful of people with torretts at his shows - you'd have a better idea of how much that actually occurs compared to clips he might put out (my only real point of reference would be Adelaide shows his done)
Wild how much this has been on the "news" though, such a non story thats been repeated heaps with bad info.
There's a world of difference between a baby's junk being exposed and an adults junk being exposed and why you'd probably get arrested and no one would bat an eye lid at a kid with no pants on and that dose not create a double standard.
are under 18s allowed at your show? something like 6 months old
Hey, do your shows have discount tickets for babies since they won't be able to understand the show anyway ?
Don't bring babies to a place where grown ups are trying to escape them....
What has the world come to now that our most reliable sources of news is stand-up comedians?
Lewis Spears coming to the UK? How well is the King?... Oooh, this could be interesting.
Parents need to learn to get a baby sitter or let their parents watch their children while they have them time. It’s better for the parents and children
