      Currently there are no Manual 996 C4S under 20,000£ here.

    Great video! I did manage to pick up a Seal Grey 996 C4S manual in May 2022 for £15k, but to be fair it's in MUCH worse condition that yours. I've completely overhauled the suspension and I got a child seat too!

      I paid 11.500 for that SL which I traded for this ...so there ya go ! Haha. Its had alot of stuff done by the last owner too mechanically , recent full brakes, diff oils, major service, new sachs clutch, bore scoped 2x and all clear.
      Please watch the road test part 2 as well !

    Lovely car! The C4s is my dream car but sadly I feel priced out of the market now - for a weekend car! I’ll have to make do with my 986 instead😂. Did I hear you say it has been serviced by Zuffenhaus (Whitlockend?). I hear they are very good. The blank switches you pointed out are heated seat switches in my Boxster.

      Its a great car I absolutely love it bar the old car issues. Zuffenhaus worked on it for previous owner, I've used Ramus as abit closer to me.

      @@ahemgee9542 There are a few good garages around the Midlands, we’re a bit spoilt for choice! I use PCT Select in Balsall Common. They used to be on the A45 going into Cov. I think you’ve caught the 996 market at the perfect time - they’re getting lot’s of deserved love now👍. Prices are very strong for good cars.

    Short shift kit wise, mine had a gt2 997 on my turbo, dont get that! £500 of garbage, got the £30 ebay one, and convert yourself. Other thing, go for semi solid engine mounts from porsche design, massively transform not only the handling , but the gearchange.

    Nice looking car, has it had a bump on the offside front?
    The panel gap looks dodgy where the bumper meets the front wing and (it might just be how it looks on camera, but) the OSF wheel looks like it’s sitting further back in the arch than the nearside…
    Good luck sorting it all out 👍

    • @ahemgee9542
      @ahemgee9542  ปีที่แล้ว

      No but the bumper has been off afew times and needs refitted properly.
      This will be done when the rads are replaced along with - protective grills and new headlamp under trim .

    • @robinoconnor1203
      @robinoconnor1203 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bumper wing fit is normal. IMS failure can be an issue, bore scoring is fairly rare on a 996, gen1 997s suffer from it more.

  • @dannsmcshane1233
    @dannsmcshane1233 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    First thing is you have too replace. All the coolant pipes and the radiator brackets will be rotten at the corners and all Porsche have bore score its just what stage it's at and you can't put iron selves in the block it won't last Evan if it's top hatted

    • @motorclaimguru
      @motorclaimguru ปีที่แล้ว

      I would not agree with "all porsche have bore score" as it is factually not true, I have inspected both 996 and 997's with High miles, and they have been fine. Certainly, anything with a mezger engine never had the problem, anything post 2010, is almost certainly fine.

    • @dannsmcshane1233
      @dannsmcshane1233 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Every one bangs on about 997.2 being solid they are getting old now and have engine faults i have had two re builds done on 997.1 cars waste of time and money paying for bore score inspection . It will have bore score at some level and too do it properly trying to get in with the exhaust bracket in situ impossible you have to go in from sump

    Prefer this or the R129?

    • @ahemgee9542
      @ahemgee9542  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Without doubt the C4S is much more exciting to drive and feels like more of an occasion- but is a sports car after all. The design detail, engineering and build quality is better on the R129, which is also one reason why it weighs a lot more than a 996 Cab .

      Not really. The car has been bore scoped- no issues. Most spare parts are relatively cheap. And the 996 is simple enough for DIY, I just replaced the engine mounts myself, next I'll replace the AC rads next.
