This 70 year old likes both of you guys. Love my 04 C4s 996. At 126,000 it’s been very reliable. I think living in Southern California has been easy on the wear and tear. All the best to you both!
Interesting chat, I've enjoyed some of Tom's recent videos on the older Porsches. Guess I'm that person who likes looking at rusty sills. Will check out your video in the 911T.
Great video. Glad that TGE is now focusing more on the good eggs. Love the car chat format. Look forward to another collaboration in the future. P.s I drove a 944 Turbo once when they were worth buttons. I actually much preferred it to the equivalent 911 of that period (except the noise of course).
Excellent collaboration with Tom- got to see the humble side. Like to see more of this content - be great to have a live Q&A session with you both. Love my 911’s- keep up the engaging content chaps 👍👍👍
They made 17,298 C4S coupes which was about 9.9% of the total production run of all 996’s between 1997 and 2005. The rarest are the 2002 first year of production 4802 units - they made less C4S ‘s that year than The TURBOS 5908 units. I’ll get my anorak …..🚙
@@TGE only my time restricts my viewing of the channel so have to prioritise 😉 and further to that, I am looking forward to more house renovation updates 👍😘
Morning. Love the video and love the format. Would be nice to do a video with you too. Previous 996 owner. 356 Speedster and now a 991.1 Cab which is loaded …Carbons. TV. Ducktail. Passionate Petrol head and would be fun.
Excellent video , I agree that the 4s is the best looking 996 but for me driving wise , I’d take the lighter rear wheel drive C2 everytime I love a 944 too , I had a S2 years ago , driving it ag night was always an event The long bonnet with the pop up headlights 😎👍🏻
I was interested to learn that Tom started his Porsche obsession with the 987 Boxster. I have had two 986 and one 987 and yes they are great cars. They can be expensive if things go wrong but the extended warranty is well worth having
I’ve had my 996 for 9yrs now… bought it for Kia money, and I’ve invested more than I could hope to sell it for, but it’s MINE top to bottom! But most importantly, the 997 is the end of the long term 911. You’ll never see a 991 or 992 being looked after or living as long as the 996 or 997.
Interesting point! I think cars like the Carrera T could be long-termers for the right person. Also think the 991.1 GTS is a cracking 911 and could be an attractive long-termer against future hybrid 911s etc.
@@9WERKSTV I can't argue about driving experience. But, you can't change a belt or filter on either of those cars without getting it up in the air. Which means at some point in the depreciation tumble most cars will have serious amounts of deferred maintenance.
Nice to see two car enthusiasts enjoy a good chat about the 996. I have a 2001 Porsche Carrera Cabriolet with 36,000 miles on it and I absolutely love it. It's Lapis Blue with a 6 speed manual. I have owed it for one year and it was a car I have dreamed of owning since I was a kid. Happy Motoring Guys!
Wonderful! I wonder of you ever covered the Bore scoring issue on this model. How common is it and should you be more worried about that than the IMS?…
Great interview, really enjoy that. Quick question, you have a wiper delete bung I noticed on little Irish. Where did you get it from? Toying with a wiper delete myself to give a cleaner look.
Lovely video, but it surprises me that a lot of people can’t quite see the difference between the GT1/Boxster/996.1 headlights and the 996.2/Turbo/GT2 headlights.
Great vid! Love the 996s - different headlights and all...they are not fried eggs, they came from the GT1 race car design - which looks great! If this generation did not exist - Porsche fans would be driving a BMW or something else.
The c4s has the slightly better looking tt widebody and the red lens is great but the good old c2 is faster, lighter and handles much better, also quite a bit cheaper. C4 for looks (slightly) and collectibility c2 for fun
Hello, could i ask your opinion looking to buy 996 3.4l but i cant decide between this porsche or nissan 350z could you tell me something about reliability about 996? Thank You very much.
This is what I like about the 996. They’re not so rare or valuable that you feel like you can’t drive it like you stole it or modify to your personal taste, even if that’s sordid 😵.
Schmee, STG, SOL, JWW, Seb Delanney and this bloke - Never been a fan of any of them. But if he's moving away from the 'simpleton' audience (which he must be cause that comment certainly won't please them) I may give him another go!
I am so happy that I did not purchase a 996. 1 day I was getting my audi paint corrected and overheard the shop owners talking about cars. I jumped in and mentioned "I am currently looking for a 996". They paused and remained silent for a few seconds and just looked at me, then went back to talking about cars. That is when I had to go back and do some research. I then learned why the 996 was hated by car enthusiasts. I decided to go for an air cooled model as it would be closer the the Porsche that I fell in love with when I was 4 years old.
One of Tom’s best interviews !
“The people that are still there are people that I’d have fun hanging out with” He’s got a great channel. Good on you to do this interview. Well done!
Cheers!

Happy to be one of Toms good eggs. Really nice to listen to one of these chats without the high energy youtube stuff.
Welcome back to tge tv

Love seeing 2 dudes hang out and chat Porsche. Well done, and great channel.
Thank you kindly.

I love Tom’s honesty and straight forwardness on all matters. Been a long time subscriber of his. Would genuinely love a pint and a chat with him!
This was very good👍👍👍. Thanks Lee & Tom!
My pleasure, Jani.
My first Porsche was an '87 924S. Currently have a '99 6sp 996 C2.
924S are good news! Gotta get one back

Oh - they did make 15 C4S’s badged as a 2001 mode year which makes those the 5th rarest 996 of all
Good video and Interesting chat. Thanks
Great vid Lee and Tom 👍🏽! Two of the best in the business. Keep up the P car content Tom!
Thanks Ari for the kind words.
Love that 996s C4s! It’s really dialed in and beautiful.
Under 20,000 996 4s coupes produced in total. Best looking rear end on any Porsche, any generation!
Enjoyed this, another great collaboration Toms been involved with lately. Blimey, I may even start watching his channel again...., 😉🇬🇧
How rude! But don’t bother if you don’t want. A lot of it is crap

I’ve just come across your channel
That was really interesting love the content 👍
Thanks Ian, welcome!
In the US auctions most C4Ss go for 37-45 US. About a 40% growth year over year.
That’s because new car production has stalled. There aren’t many 992’s on the dealer floor. Once new cars are up for lease, the market will calm down
Great video TGE is a top gent who’s channel is fab to watch
