Impressive jump in improvements for V11 - seems a lot more "organic" in its behavior. And your video production and commentary are superb, the use of overlay, the internal/external camera and timelapse sections all have a nice flow - very well done.
Do it like this with the full drive. It gives MUCH more confidence as a viewer because otherwise it just feels like you might have edited together good or questionable moments. This is keen. Can’t wait to see more!
I love the white line on the steering wheel. Definitely worth the effort to see the steering action while providing the awesome vision overlay. Keep it up! Your drives and commentary are top tier!
i like seeing the full drives, i feel it gives a better understanding that the exceptional cases and situations are just that, exceptions from the "norm". Montage clips of issues are good for some styles of videos like you have done previously summarizing what issues still need fixing, but for giving a new/fresh perspective of what a new version is like, the more context the better imo. thats my 2cents tho
Especially drives a wedge between those wanting to show what FSD actually is and the hit peices that try to just show the parts where it fucks up, sometimes even leaving the few seconds of footage without giving it anh context at all.
18:09: It did come to a full stop tho, luckily! It stayed put for about 5-10 frames, depending on how strict you are with the definition of staying put. But it was stopped for a brief time as it has to be.
Super video! Can't wait for the wide release. Love the mix of normal speed and fast forwarding. Excellent commentary for details and context - I would have missed a bunch without it. Thanks.
Love the longer format video style showing a full drive is an amazing way to show how FSD is doing. Always love it when I get a new release from you so keep up the hard work. I've recently purchased a model 3 in the UK, sadly we can't use FSD so you are the closest I get to experiencing it! Would also love to see your camera set up!
I’m a fan of these longer format videos. It’s great to see all the context for how beta is thinking. I grew up in SJ and learned how to drive there. Beta made that look smoother than 15 year old me ever could.
Great video! To your question of cuts or showing the full drive I think a mix of both would be great. I agree that showing the full drive is really useful to see the full reality but seeing clips can show areas of improvement. The steering wheel sleeve was also very helpful. It’s also really interesting to see the drive on highway move to the faster lane to skip slower cars and then move back to its original lane.
@@simonmarcu01 Sometimes yes, sometimes no. Grandpa does have one big advantage over this, he can actually think and improvise. This one is just trying to do thing based on its training but take it to an environment where people drive differently and there's some new situation and it will most likely fail miserably. There's an entire debate about how limited current AI is and how it's overrated by companies. Some doubt the current AI tech can really do level 5 autonomy but sure for level 3 it's probably better than humans.
@@mforce2 the original comment is about this technology in 2-3 years. Yea, for now it's still worse than a human, but considering the new growth in AI tech, I belive it could really improve more than you would have expected.
As a long time follower and still-yet-to-be Tesla owner, I cannot start to tell you how much I appreciate your drives, insights and comments. It's almost like being there myself - can't wait to join you and the rest of the fleet when I get the possibility!
I just started using Beta 10.69 and the best way to describe it is "bracing". When it's on its game, is a relaxing and comfortable drive. But it often chooses the wrong lane at turns and likes to accelerate and brake hard. Not something to hand a random person, but worthy of experiencing for someone willing to accept it as experimental. Looking forward to seeing v11!
Calling it experimental is a bit misleading. It actually will keep drivers that use it responsibly safer than not using it. I understand that at times it may seem a bit uncomfortable when you take over as driver but the redundancy of having 10 cameras and two brains working in unison makes you safer. This is no longer an experiment. Data is proving this already. Hopefully your comfort level will increase once you get version 11 and you will use more often for safety.
@@getreal7217 The additional safety from these systems was a key factor in buying the car. I'm following the regular updates about FSD Beta and it's development. That said, experiencing the system in action on my actual travels is different from just the academic understanding I have from watching others' presentations. I would still classify it as experimental in the sense that no one should use it without having a clear expectation it's going to be wrong some percent of the time. It's inconsistent in behavior and very jerky. My SO hates being a passenger with 10.69; it isn't yet natural enough and rather uncomfortable to experience (again, on my routes). This is not to downplay to remarkable job it actually does. It's amazing, but it's still early days and newcomers (like me) should set expectations accordingly. There's clear vision to improve on these faults; it's a matter of time. I still enjoy using it, so I'll have a list of situations and locations to eventually compare with v11.
Unedited clips help validate the data isn't cherry picking, but consistent, dependable decisions. 2x speed with music, slowing down the highlights can be relaxing, & informative. You still have the best visuals around. Excellent work.
Thank you so much for all the effort you put into these videos. You have by far the best setup technically and you also do the best narration to explain what is going on. I'm feeling really good about the future of Tesla's FSD capability. I can't wait to get V11 on my car!
This is the update I've been looking forward to. Your last video scared me because the beta doing really unfortunate things, like trying to turn left on a red, making a left-hand turn on a clear street when the map wanted to go right, bobbing left and right on wide residential streets - I was wondering if the Tesla of v11 was overblown. Thanks for the content and looking forward to receiving v11!
I admire so much to the transition style from interior to exterior view, I'm watching you almost 3 years now & for all this time I never seen on any other channel thing like that. Attention on details in cars behavior is really spot on, continue.
I'm sure people will pick this drive apart and find all the mistakes and deem FSD bad. But I challenge you all to record your parents, siblings, friends, grandparents, etc. drive continuously for an hour. I think you'll be surprised how many mistakes average humans make in an hour of driving. From running red lights, to stop sign stare-offs, to crossing into bike lanes, getting confused by construction/lane markings, road raging because of other bad drivers, dangerously cutting people off, making illegal turns, etc. There are over 14k car accidents per day in the U.S. alone, at least software can be debugged & improved. Humans on the other hand...we're unlikely to change lol.
driving in san jose looks absolutely hellish and absurdly complicated- roundabouts, numerous different kinds of stoplights, yield lights, toll roads, highways, stop signs, speed bumps, and to top it all off, no protected lefts.
Highly encouraging! Enjoyed the ride-along... How do you get the camera view from above and behind the vehicle? With the FSD visualization, makes it pretty easy to follow both views. Thanks for all your hard work... I have a Cybertruck on order ~200k on wait list, with FSD and absolutely can't wait to have both! You've been a big contributor to the evolution of this amazing tehnology. SoCalFreddy
6:23 the system errors are some kind of protection system in place, monitoring the planned driving maneuvers. If something looks too funky, the car may bail out - even if there's not actually an error with the self-driving system. This system for example kicked in in the past of the car started driving on the wrong side of the road, if there's a turning circle at the end and the car starts to plan driving into a house etc. In this case it may be the plan to drive in the waiting car on the other side of the road, which flickered up for a couple of frames, close to the system error. ;)
Great video, thanks a lot. I think both video styles are interesting, full drives and only highlights. I would love if you keep doing both :) Really annoying that we in Europe have no access to this magical software and didn't even receive autopilot updates within years! I really hope Tesla will focus more on their European customers and not only on the US.
@@Jimbogf yes, but the fact that we still do not have speed sign recognition on highways is silly. Every other carmaker has that, this has nothing to do with regulations. And yet tesla still does not update autopilot.
Overall, VERY impressive re feeling solid and smooth. I was super impressed with those nasty left turns, re difficult visibility with the caution, the creeping, the patience, and the handling of the entire turn. It seemed exactly like a GOOD human driver, just like for "Chuck Cook's turn", where I'd ALWAYS just bail, turn right, and look for a good place to SAFELY turn around, if there were much traffic at such a turn. (Where I lived for 3+ decades near a crowded freeway / business area, I saw BAZILLION accidents with impatient/stupid people, which makes me cautious about lefts in such places).
I don't mind either style of video, but I feel like I would prefer seeing the full drive to maintain a sense of continuity which leads to a better intuition about how the system works.
I don’t know how many times I can say “excellent video” but they always are. Can’t wait for this weekend to see if the wide release happens. Oh, and this style is good viewing. 👍
Very impressive. Wheel cover is a great aid to see the smoothness of steering. It appears the car analyses and takes an improved "racing line" around corners reducing jerky sharp abrupt cornering.
@@user-221i Only two road traffic deaths per 100, 000 inhabitants were reported in Norway in 2019, making the Scandinavian nation the best-performing. While drastically lower than the 12.4 deaths per 100,000 inhabitants in the U.S. that's still not zero. From 2010-2019, Oslo had an average of five to seven traffic fatalities a year.
One issue I noticed is lack of recall on obscured vehicles caused by your lead car hiding them. It used to maintain those vehicles in front of your lead car and they even advertised it as being able to see 'through' cars to predict forward collisions when radar was still a 1st class sensor.
Consider adding a "G-force meter" like they do in those racing videos to communicate the feel of the car. Also, add a reference circle around 0.5g (?) so that we know any acceleration below that threshold is considered comfortable. According to GPT-4 "In general, most people can comfortably tolerate lateral accelerations of up to 0.5 g in normal driving conditions". Perhaps put a circle (or oval) threshold around what you think feels comfortable. I mentioned oval since you might tolerate higher forward/backward acceleration than lateral acceleration. Note that comfort is also a measure of smoothness (the car can giggle the wheel within 0.5g, and that would be considered uncomfortable) so there are probably other measures you want to show.
That is a perfect example for the types of situations FSD can excel at. It is very easy for it while can be stressful for humans. The downside is that, either ways, you can miss your turn.
Of all the folks a regularly watch (black tesla, chuck, whole mars catalogue etc) your videos are the best. You also seem to put in the most effort (over the top angle, dividing video in sections, sewing that white part on the steering wheel). Keep it up!
2 things, DEFINITELY prefer the long uncut videos (though every once in a while a compilation is cool) and the white line on the steering is super useful. Keep it up!
Incredible video. Your insight into the software development is priceless. I assume the general public will overall wish for a mix of videos, but I love these continuous drives with voiceover. Great job!!!
Keep the whole video, this is so amazing. I’m sure the more data that gets fed to FSD and the sensors get better this will be perfect in the next decade. It really is cool to live through this period.
17:32 I kept pausing there cause I was SUPER interested in how when the car stops moving after a few seconds all lane lines disappear up ahead. I think I know what causes this but it's even more interesting to see what the car does in response to this and how it still kind of memorizes stuff. Same thing at 21:50 but it actually starts slowly seeing the lines again, almost like adjusting the "gain" or sensitivity to them.
San Jose isn't that difficult a place to drive. I've driven that area where you were driving. Try Pittsburgh if you want to see a challenging place to drive! It's one of the few scary places that has a full stop on the Highway entrance ramp, and it's a short ramp!! Try going from full stop 0 to 60 on a merge ramp that ends in 300 ft!
I really like that you provided a quick preview of 11.3.1 when it first came out followed by a more detailed and insightful analysis later. Keep up the good work!
YOOOOOO WTF, you drove right outside my house! 😂 I saw you start the video at the Rivermark supercharger and was thinking “oh I know where this is, I drive there all the time”. Then I saw you get on the freeway and get off in Sunnyvale and was excited cause I live here and have been debating getting fsd beta. Then I saw you routing closer and closer to my house and started to think to myself “there’s no way he’s gonna drive by my house”. You just kept getting closer and closer until, boom you turned onto my street and drove right in front of my house. I’m blown away, I wasn’t expecting that while clicking on a random TH-cam video. Great video btw, you sold me on fsd. I subscribed to it but unfortunately I have to wait for a future software update to be able to enroll in fsd beta.
Your editing is my favorite among all FSD TH-camrs out there! Thank you and keep going. It would be great to chop these make TH-cam Shorts in addition to the full video!
Maybe one of the best FSD videos I have seen, thank you! The package is obviously getting better with each release and gives me hope that maybe in a year or so it will be prime time ready - at least in certain limited geographical areas.
I drive a Tesla nonFSD in Sunnyvale whenever I visit US. But sitting in India I went through your entire video ...Your narration, and video take is so so Riveting. Your notice of driving detail is so accurate and pleasant to watch. Took me to a different level. Kudos
The fast forwarding of the boring sections with voice over and keeping it an entire drive is the way to go, I feel. Love the graphics work too, well produced, and narrated :) oh, and the white stripe on the steering wheel gives a good visualisation of where the wheel is at. Keep them coming.
19:00 It stops for the stop line (it's assuming it is not seeing the sign that belongs to the line), and then is confused about which traffic it should yield to. It rightly decides that not seeing any cars is not the same as it seeing the road those cars would be on is clear, so it tries to find the area(s) it needs to see as empty for a while before giving up.
18:10, it does come to a complete stop, but only for a fraction of a second. The speedometer still showing 1mph is intentional indicating that's it's gonna go through.
I like the full trip videos, as long as you speed up the long straights and long lights....of course, mixed in with your short clips/audio of the important things.
Long time viewer, first time subscriber. Loved the video, especially that last three left turn lane maneuver. Definitely keep the full drive as it prevents people from claiming you cut out all the interfentions. How you did it here was great.
I'm a fan of your channel. I will watch whatever format you make, but the longer the better. All videos I watch on TH-cam, I set them at x1.25 speed, except yours. Good job!
Man I'm really loving the content you're making. I watched that Humanpilot VS Autopilot video a whlie back and I have to say: that was hands down the best Tesla Autopilot video I've seen, period. I've been sharing it with my family and friends that have doubts about autonomous driving systems. Keep up the great work!
15:10 Total neural network at work! So cool! The car sees and displays lane lines on the road to your left even when it’s completely blocked the wall directly to the left of the car. Freaking amazing! 😮
18:40 now that the red lights are turned blue we can see that the car is not paying attention to the red light so it must be stopped for pedestrian crossing? Or some invisible map data.
Great video as always. Those editing skills 👍. Love the explanations and context on all your videos. Makes it super easy understand what beta was doing. Steering wheel mark is a nice added touch!

i like seeing the full drives, i feel it gives a better understanding that the exceptional cases and situations are just that, exceptions from the "norm".
You already know this but I’m going to say it every time- by far the best FSD beta videos on YT, in terms of both editing and content.
Thanks.
I watch a few of these each FSD release but your channel does this best job. You have so much more added value the way you shoot and edit. Thx
Beta made that look smoother than 15 year old me ever could.
i like the type of videos where you also include forwarded material, this way, one can get a really good feeling for how the FSD is doing in general
Great video! To your question of cuts or showing the full drive I think a mix of both would be great. I agree that showing the full drive is really useful to see the full reality but seeing clips can show areas of improvement. The steering wheel sleeve was also very helpful.
It’s also really interesting to see the drive on highway move to the faster lane to skip slower cars and then move back to its original lane.
this just makes me wonder what the level of FSD is going to be in 2-3 years if already it's this good. Great video btw
Hell yeah! I hope they keep going HARD at it
It's gonna drive you home, cook your dinner, pour you a scotch, and tuck you into bed.
Probably better than your average old grandpa with low reflexes and poor vision.
That white line on the wheel is perfect! Does exactly what you wanted it to do. Great thinking! Thank you! 🤩
You create the best FSD videos. Thanks for putting in the work to create such insightful videos.
Noice version btw 😂
@@milol.akkaraprud8681 is very nice
@@getreal7217I like how confident you sound but I wonder if it’s really true. If true then robot taxis won’t be far off
Unedited clips help validate the data isn't cherry picking, but consistent, dependable decisions.
0:48 thanks for the chapters but I prefer to let the video navigate itself. Just feels polished and right.
Wow! This really does look like a huge improvement. It cruises through so many complicated situations with ease now.
You have the highest production value FSD Beta videos on TH-cam and I so appreciate it. Thank you!
In this case it may be the plan to drive in the waiting car on the other side of the road, which flickered up for a couple of frames, close to the system error. ;)
I like a mixture of both types of videos :)
Full drive edit is definitely the way to go. So much smoother and easier to understand than the chopped up video.
Great video, thanks a lot. I think both video styles are interesting, full drives and only highlights. I would love if you keep doing both :)
Really annoying that we in Europe have no access to this magical software and didn't even receive autopilot updates within years! I really hope Tesla will focus more on their European customers and not only on the US.
Its looking like it will be allowed from january 2025. Hopefully we can get the new autopilot at least much sooner
European regulations have been pretty strict on Autopilot and especially FSD. That's why Europe won't see FSD anytime time soon.
I hope that they will replace NoA with FSD Beta somewhat soon even if it's just on the highway
@@Jimbogf yes, but the fact that we still do not have speed sign recognition on highways is silly. Every other carmaker has that, this has nothing to do with regulations. And yet tesla still does not update autopilot.
@@elromolus5310 Mobileye holds the patent for visual speed limit sign recognition. That is THE reason why Tesla can't use it.
You Sir, a real asset to Tesla and FSD community. Best videos hands down and I’m always looking forward to your releases. 🍻
Love the longer videos, they give a much better representation of what a real-world drive would be like.
I don't mind either style of video, but I feel like I would prefer seeing the full drive to maintain a sense of continuity which leads to a better intuition about how the system works.
@6:20 why was turning right on red a mistake? I didn't see any signs against it.
I vote for full drive. It would also be cool to see previous versions vs newest build, side-by-side, for different scenarios
I wonder how long we have to wait before steering wheels on Teslas is an optional add-on
I don’t know how many times I can say “excellent video” but they always are.
FSD will save millions of lives ❤
Better urban planning will save millions of lives. Oslo has zero deaths.
Already 2 biker is dead
One issue I noticed is lack of recall on obscured vehicles caused by your lead car hiding them. It used to maintain those vehicles in front of your lead car and they even advertised it as being able to see 'through' cars to predict forward collisions when radar was still a 1st class sensor.
I have been looking forward to this video! :D
Wow 22:28 this is challenging 😲
People went for easy way while fsd for hardest
That is a perfect example for the types of situations FSD can excel at. It is very easy for it while can be stressful for humans. The downside is that, either ways, you can miss your turn.
Of all the folks a regularly watch (black tesla, chuck, whole mars catalogue etc) your videos are the best. You also seem to put in the most effort (over the top angle, dividing video in sections, sewing that white part on the steering wheel). Keep it up!
*great content!* As an investor who does not have FSD Beta, I appreciate seeing the progress.
Best video format you have ever done where you swap to overhead view when a wider perspective is needed to show us something. Love your videos!
i really enjoy watching your videos, thanks! And please keep the long versions with no hard cuts
2 things, DEFINITELY prefer the long uncut videos (though every once in a while a compilation is cool) and the white line on the steering is super useful.
Keep it up!
Great video. You cover a lot in a limited amount of time, clearly showing the ups and downs of FSD 11.
I like these full drives it's also nice to see the transitions between the different interesting situations.
Love these kind of FSD videos. Get to see what it's capable of with commentary at a fast speed
I'm in awe at every single clip you release.
How you narrate and edit the video is simply the best out there. Thank you and cheers!
8:24 - steering wheel swing. It is reading the drain dip across the road.
(I was driving that pre-Tesla, so scary when your car can't accelerate like a Tesla!)
Wow, really nice demo of FSD V11 capabilities. I am very excited and can't wait to get my OTA to my MSLR hopefully soon!
I really like that you provided a quick preview of 11.3.1 when it first came out followed by a more detailed and insightful analysis later. Keep up the good work!
Love your style. No drama, great analysis, and I'm really impressed.
Great FSD status update!
Thank you so much Karl! Truly appreciated :]
Kudos
I like the full drive context. Doing the smooth time-lapse for the boring parts works fine imo. Having the full context for the behaviour is useful!
The white line on the steering wheel is very good. Any chance for another two stripes in the 10 and 2 o'clock positions?
Easily my favourite FSD tester. Love the commentary and relaxed vibes.
Nice ending to the video... The visualization really highlights its ability to work in such complex environments and how it sees like 30 cars at once.
Thanks!
Thank you so much Qubed! Truly appreciated :]
Great job talking through it. You portrayed what we were seeing in both an accurate and entertaining way.
The steering wheel cover is a great addition, many thanks, and keep practicing your sewing, it's a useful skill to have!
An impressive demonstration of an impressive drive. Thank you. Please keep the full drive format.
I like the full trip videos, as long as you speed up the long straights and long lights....of course, mixed in with your short clips/audio of the important things.
The stopping at on the tram tracks is a perfect example of when FSD could "Back up" ...
Gotta give credit to the amazing quality of your videos. V11 is amazing! Can't wait for FSD to make its way over to Europe!
15:10 Total neural network at work! So cool! The car sees and displays lane lines on the road to your left even when it’s completely blocked the wall directly to the left of the car. Freaking amazing! 😮
I live a few minutes from there, I hate that blind spot.
