There is an easy way but its painful. Put the game on safe mode and rush. You wont die but it will take ages. Ive done it. It took me 2 hours+

it is possible to take the reaper on early on your first run but need fusion alarm and gallows available to make it manageable and of course (this should be obvious) make sure you progress the game so that traits are revealed. If you use the dlc personas u can do it as early as kanishiro's arc after securing your infiltration route and as low as level 35. If your going the non-dlc route then i would agree with @wizzy7755 and would wait until you reach level 70+ so that you have access to higher level fusions. There is the option to work on the penal labor from caroline and justine however on your first run that will take awhile since you need specific persona's with a specific skill on it (easier on ng+ if you keep the compendium updated with those personas with said skills needed)

I did it today by getting izanagi no okami pícaro, and then, other personas just to use masukukaja, and other boosts, with yusuke, Makoto and ann on my team ( i took both ann and makoto to heal and get more defense, and with ann hitting reaper with tarukaja) some objects to get more attack and heals, and nothing more i think (keep in mind that I made this on safe difficulty, and sorry if my english is bad)

How to beat him early meanwhile sataneal
Edit: here’s how to do it as an actual beginner, I am currently just finished Futabas palace and I was able to beat the reaper. First obtain dlc, since I am a console player(Xbox) I get all of them for free, then buy izanagi No Omani or izinagi no okami picaro, then use gallows to level him up with ease at times when alarms are off, once at level 81 or if Picaro 90 you shall be able to unlock an ability that allows you to do more than double the damage on your next magic attack(myriad truths), once this ability is obtained hop into mementos and turn your difficulty on easy mode, and then have Ryuji, Makoto, and Morgana on your team, commence the battle and on your first move use concentrate and then on makoto use the defence increase ability, then with Ryuji use the attack increase, morgana can do whatever at the start, once it cycles back to joker insane damage will be done, repeat until you have won and use items if needed. (Use the st badge you get from dlc it allows you to block the reapers one shot attacks) after you have won that is an easy 140’000 xp within 10 mins

To anyonr who wants to beat the reaper in normal or hard mode on their first playthrough (no newgame+ w/o using akechi and kasumi and no DLC personas), All phantom thieves should be above lvl 70. Ryuji, ann, and mona will be good in this fight. Recommended personas are attis, yamata-no-orochi, and trumpeter. Mot is also good for almighty dmg. Let morgana hold the president's insight so he can buff joker's magic dmg, mona will focus on healing and ryuji will be your phys dmg dealer and ann as your secondary magic dealer. Start the fight by letting the reaper ambush you so he can only do 1 turn. Joker's rotation will be using debilitate (trumpeter), then thermopylae (attis) and then concetrate or any magic/almighty dmg. The reaper at times will start the fight by using concentrate and the megidolaon on its next turn hence, why joker should go for debilitate first.
