Hi I just became unemployed no money to make my mortgage payment and yet I was able to pop a couple of smiles watching you work, I know there is a light at the end of the tunnel .
Well i got the ball rolling, now I have a spree AND a metropolitan !!! the Metro has a stripped plug and a few missing parts but well worth putting some time in to..So happy trails Jacob
You reminded me of my anticipation when turning over 66 VW bug engine after splitting it opened and put together...PUT, PUT PUT....put, put, put....died, but later alive again! GRIN!!
I have only watched this series... this far, and I can tell you, he is WAY to cheap for something like that. He wouldn't even spring for a gasket kit, he just RTV'd the damn thing!
Derpies well yeah but I make my own gaskets too it's easy. We learned to make em out of cereal boxes at school, and this is for essential equipment on commercial ships.
Job well done. I feel encouraged to see it run since I am trying to resurrect a 74 TM250 Suzuki dirtbike. Not sure I'll have as much luck but I'll someday look forward to my own potato chip dance.
Hey Jake I love watching you! I followed your lead and began to fix up my Honda ct90 1972. It hasn’t ran in a year and I have never worked on a bike before 🥰and I was able to get it running but my husband went to test drive it and the throttle stuck wide open and threw him off, he looks like meat loaf. I watched and you and made sure my throttle had lift at the carborator and the slide was aligned when I put the handle back together. It had tension when i would twist it 😪so I though all was roses and ready to go. So do you have any thoughts as to why it could have stuck wide open and if their is an adjustment for the throttle cable this bike?
I guess what I should have mentioned, because if one has to service the carburetor, clean jets or whatever you have to drain the fuel tank. And good luck if you have to replace the fuel plumbing to the fuel tank. Its a real hassle!
You'd make an excellent teacher at a techincal college teaching students how to fix bikes etc. Wish there were more people like you. Nice series, keep it up.
It made me so happy to see it run! I just love when people rescue things that would normally be given up on, and make them live again, no matter how horrible condition it was in to start with! Thank you for this series, and keep up the good work! :-)
Nice to see you using gasoline for cleaning parts. I've been doing that for 40+ years. I do it outside or in a well ventilated area, and I never wear gloves. In fact after getting a lot of black grease all over me, I use gasoline to wash my hands and arms, then strong dishwashing liquid. I've heard a lot of people have an absolute fit at the mere mention of even touching gasoline, like it is instant death or something. They have been listening to the EPA too much. It has never done me any harm. I also use a lot of spray carb and brake parts cleaner. I buy it by the case. I will use a whole can while doing an oil change on a car. I've also used it to clean my hands with. The small E string from a guitar is perfect for cleaning jets and small passages in carburetors.
I hope you make a new episode soon, this series is really entertaining. I used to have 2 CT90's myself. Sold them a few years ago after restoring them though.
Mechanic97 Glad you like the videos! I'm trying to get the next one done, but I'm worried that the wet weather will come before I get my shasta trailer waterproof, so that's taking a lot of my time.
I've been keeping up with your progress on this bike religiously, so I was totally there with you celebrating when you got it started! I can't wait to see more progress, and thanks for sharing, man.
Jake i watch your tc 90 build and in one of the episodes you talked about the trouble with new gas cans did you know there are kits sold at tractor supply to help fix the cans ?
Rettich333 Thanks a lot, I'm glad you like the videos. I really like making them too, so as long as I can find fresh junk to work on, there should be a steady supply :)
Great series! But I wonder what type of oil you use? It looks that you use ordinary engine oil? Dont you want bike oil for the clutch? Cant wait for the next episode! Greetings from Sweden
***** A guy sent me a video of him running from and beating a police SUV K-9 on a XR70 which has a similar power/weight ratio as a trail 90 :) so you'd probably be fine!
hey I just got a 1964 trail 55 and it looks just like yours and I was wondering if you would tell how to hook up the wires so it will start without a battery
ON your throttle, is the spring inside the carb slide enough to retract the handle back again? I just put it all back together, but I can't have a throttle that stays open all on its own like that!
You often use gasoline to clean, but how do you feel about kerosene? I use it like you do, but because of its volatility (being less than gasoline), I prefer it. Given the same parts to clean, does gasoline provide better results?
rover215 kerosene, being closer to crude petroleum than the more refined gasoline, is a less powerful solvent (doesn't dissolve things as readily or as completely) but is conversely less damaging to petroleum-esque products such as plastics, rubber, etc.
I watched from part one to seven, i like this little project your doing! I just love restoration projects. I'm going to start one of my own very soon, I hope we get to see the end result, I'm looking forward to it :)
I LOVE YER VIDEOS! I watched ths whole series in one sittinv. I inherited a 56 F100w/ thd engine in the same condition. If I didnt knos better I would swear that yer my twin brother! Great videos, very entertaining!! Keep it up!
Saw you videos today, and hey! they awesome educational videos. I still have 2 questions: 1) when is your 7th one coming up?..... 2) is there any possibility you can go onto the electrical stuff on it?.... i know you mention a couple of things, but i think it would be awesome if you once get a a battery, go to the video of which wire goes with which. Other than that, def cannot wait for your next videos of your project!
ecuations Hi! I am really trying to get the next video done, but I've been focusing a lot on getting my trailer project waterproof before it rains. I'll probably go into some more detail about the electrical once I try to sort out the lights, ignition, etc.
***** hey I just got a 1964 trail 55 and it looks just like yours and I was wondering if you would tell how to hook up the wires so it will start without a battery
I have one of these but cannot find a carb for it....that's the four bolt bottom on float bowl. I have searched and searched and cannot get one...any help would be greatly appreciated...
The statement, at 14:20, that you need a battery to fire the engine is false. Go figure, the internet trolls were wrong. I start mine all the time doing exactly what you did which was tie the 2 battery wires together. After the engine fire you don't even need the wire tied together any longer.
I have a 1978 ct90. I have replaced the coil, points, rectifier, and points wire. I still dont have spark... so maybe my battery is dead again. Idk. All I know is this bike is a pain in the butt
Glad to see it runs after all that work do it some good and find a proper pipe and you will have a nice classic bike good vid thanks can wait for the next episode lol
Hey Jacob, Really enjoyed your Honda CT 90 Show !! I was giving 2 ,yes, two 1972 CT 's a while back... Your show sure was a great help in my restoration.i was lucky they were almost complete....Soooo happy trails Jake and thanks again, todd ps what does the K1 ect mean on a Honda CT K1 or K2 ? Thanks man !!
+Hey Old Man Glad you liked the videos, and sounds like you made a great find. The K1, K2 etc is the generation of the bike, and there are small changes between them. I think it somewhat corresponds to the year. My 1969 Is K1. It will be listed on the frame number on the left side.
It is funny to me that if this was in Scotland that bike would be a nothing more than a mere orange rust stain in the dirt. But it's a Honda... in America. It will run again
I'm from India and I run a similar motor'ed bike , a 97cc en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hero_Honda_Splendor . I learned a lot from your work and nice explanations . Thanks a lot , and please keep us updated .
Hi I just became unemployed no money to make my mortgage payment and yet I was able to pop a couple of smiles watching you work, I know there is a light at the end of the tunnel .
You need your own PBS channel 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
I miss you! Im rewatching old videos now
You rock brother. Canada guy here
Love that clearing of the table junk for some reason, great fun to watch!
Nice job Jake

Very good video ! Very inspiring.
Adam Turner Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the video.
Your videos and sense of humor are great, man.
***** Thanks for the compliment, glad you enjoyed the video!
Congratulations.........
ياسر عبد الستار علي Thanks!!
kitchen stuff are always a go to. ie dish soaps and oven cleaner. work wonders on engine rebuilding
Great vid,Get some nitrile Gloves, they don't rot so easily .
You reminded me of my anticipation when turning over 66 VW bug engine after splitting it opened and put together...PUT, PUT PUT....put, put, put....died, but later alive again! GRIN!!
That dance was epic. Great to hear it run
Hendrik Hallo haha, yeah I was bustin out the moves there for a minute!
I'm still new but my dude I hope to god you've picked up an ultrasonic cleaner by now. Makes cleaning carbs so much easier.
Don't forget the suffra jet.
I need part 8!!!
Great video.
You are a genius!!
VERY KEWL...I was just given 2 Honda cubs for free...embarking on getting 1 running, It is my winter project...Have any videos of your done project???
IIILennIII Wow, that sounds like a fun project. Part 8 on my bike is still in the works.
On my third time watching this whole series. Really like your style. Get a few more videos going man.
You are the best Jake, your vids have been massively helpful.
+Targ Spiteri Glad you enjoyed them, thanks!
Congrats on getting the engine fired up. Can't wait to see the bike on the road.
Job well done. I feel encouraged to see it run since I am trying to resurrect a 74 TM250 Suzuki dirtbike. Not sure I'll have as much luck but I'll someday look forward to my own potato chip dance.

Makoto Fujimoto Thanks! The first ride is getting closer and closer :)
You'd make an excellent teacher at a techincal college teaching students how to fix bikes etc. Wish there were more people like you. Nice series, keep it up.

08 Thomas EF Thanks a lot, it's taking a while to finish, but it will be worth it :)

I love your enthusiasm for mechanics!
You sir, are insane. And I like it. Haha, you're giving me confidence to put my engineering chops on a '68 CT90. :)
+Murray Manchanthasouk Thanks a lot!
I bought a honda 90 from a barn
How can find out the year model
Really enjoying your videos
Be healthy and take care
I hope you make a new episode soon, this series is really entertaining. I used to have 2 CT90's myself. Sold them a few years ago after restoring them though.
New episode soon? O:) cant wait!
Mechanic97 Glad you like the videos! I'm trying to get the next one done, but I'm worried that the wet weather will come before I get my shasta trailer waterproof, so that's taking a lot of my time.
Im following the shasta also, so a new video of the trailer wouldn`t be wrong either ;)
I've been keeping up with your progress on this bike religiously, so I was totally there with you celebrating when you got it started! I can't wait to see more progress, and thanks for sharing, man.
Run of the Phoenix
More and more surprises, surprises every day...Was that an homage to Trinity when he was playing with the twirling "man" and the ne'er do well ?
Jake i watch your tc 90 build and in one of the episodes you talked about the trouble with new gas cans did you know there are kits sold at tractor supply to help fix the cans ?
Love your videos man, cheers from Sweden.
damn, i love your videos. cant see enough of theese. please keep doin theese resotre videos. greets from germany.
Rettich333 Thanks a lot, I'm glad you like the videos. I really like making them too, so as long as I can find fresh junk to work on, there should be a steady supply :)
I need part 8
A honda trail 90 will not run without a battery. I learned that the hard way.
I LOVE IT
THECHARLIE1900 Thanks!
That's SUPER exciting! What an AWESOME repair!
when you doing the next kx100 can you show your wiring
Lol very entertaining, I enjoy hearing from your future self.
Great series! But I wonder what type of oil you use? It looks that you use ordinary engine oil? Dont you want bike oil for the clutch? Cant wait for the next episode! Greetings from Sweden
xcrdude Hi, glad you like the video! I've always used regular motor oil in these old bikes. I think it's ok, the side of the case recommends "sae 30"
Absolutely love this series and this channel
FailsAndFights Thanks so much FNF, this trail 90 should be a fun bike. It wouldn't make a very exciting police chase though :)
***** A guy sent me a video of him running from and beating a police SUV K-9 on a XR70 which has a similar power/weight ratio as a trail 90 :) so you'd probably be fine!
lol good Job Jake!!!! I was rooting for you!! I am eating chips toooooo. -_-
1down4up Thanks! Be sure to eat a couple for me and the 90 :)
do you monetize your vids?
Great work, fun videos to watch, I just got a CT 90 so the info is great! My CT wasn't great but not in as bad of shape as yours when I got it.
hey I just got a 1964 trail 55 and it looks just like yours and I was wondering if you would tell how to hook up the wires so it will start without a battery
you need a bottle of carb cleaner it strips old gas varnish off like nothing
That spark plug caps are usually have a threaded screw, and screws into the high voltage lead.
This is a great series by the way!!
ON your throttle, is the spring inside the carb slide enough to retract the handle back again? I just put it all back together, but I can't have a throttle that stays open all on its own like that!
now your almost there to start your own Honda 90 vlog channel, Jake.
Iseekoutthetruth I don't know, I'm thinking that if I ever get the trailer done, I could take the 90 traveling and do videos about it.
I sent you a craigslist link to a guy who deals with these honda 90's, maybe you can haggle a muffler from him. he does trades also.
Iseekoutthetruth thanks, I'll check it out :)

Did you have to remove or clean the gas tank? How did u if u did? My tank has residue inside.
Есть схема зарядки аккумулятора? У меня просто такой же
I have a couple exhaust pipes sitting around if your interested let me know.
Marshall Jorgensen Yeah, definitely interested depending on where you're located. I'll send you a message.

Wheeeew happy dance.
CrobbDawg oh yeah I was so happy!

@1:03 turns it and stuff falls out, good stuff
your pretty darn awesome!! good job! cant wait for next vid!!!
When is the next episode?
why didn't you use carburetor cleaner?
How much money have you spent on the project so far?
Erkovich I think I'm at about $100 including the price of the bike. I'll do a cost breakdown in a future video. Thanks!
impressive
6 down votes, why? I really enjoyed watching, even when it's twice.
Where'd you buy the pants depicted at 3:28? I need some.
haha he says bypass we say hotwire
I have one of these but cannot find a carb for it....that's the four bolt bottom on float bowl. I have searched and searched and cannot get one...any help would be greatly appreciated...
buck downer just make a point of looking at ebay and craigslist every day. Something will pop up. Good luck!

I have trouble with my 1966 ct90 it is up and running but the shifter will not shift into gear is there anything that you might know about that
How do you remember which screws go where?
I have an abundance of video documentation :)
+Jennies Garage ha great
It is funny to me that if this was in Scotland that bike would be a nothing more than a mere orange rust stain in the dirt. But it's a Honda... in America. It will run again
MrWtfchicken Yeah it would've been a real shame to see it wither away to dust. The durability of these old Honda's is amazing
Ewan Fairgrieve Scotland made of salt or something?
@@AudioGardenSlave123 I'm curious about this too lol maybe it's been too long since this video went up for anyone to notice
how are you so entertaining?
How is it going? :)
Ugh! I've been waiting so long!! When's part 8 coming?!
Russ Elliott It's coming, I promise! Just been very busy with other stuff.
***** You didn't clean out the emulsion tube?
dratv.com is a great place for parts that NEED to be replaced, like seals.
She's idling great, though!
i was lmao when you started to dance and eat chips lol
yeahhhhhhh budddyyyyyyyyyy
Great youtube video series! Can't wait for the next part. How long before part 8 comes out? Keep up the excellent work...
Sounds like bubbles :D
I loved the potato chip part!
