    I'm retired from Health Visiting. Other qualifications Reg nurse, Reg midwife. Degree in psychology. I bought a house in London in the 90s. Then I did work with an agency at weekends cos of my mortgage. I managed very well. I had a car as my job required us to drive. Once the mortgage interest rate came down, I stopped agency.
    Now retired I travel every year. The pension and the state pension is just enough for me to do what I enjoy doing. I'm not a materialistic person. I have my 4x4 which has served me very well in Africa. I enjoy engaging in my hobbies. That's one thing Africans abroad neglect, hobbies which can later be turned into business. Stay blessed. London UK.

    I’ve been here in the U.S. for 6 years now, and I can honestly say that I regret the decision to move here, and will be making my way back to the U.K in April. Please don’t let MONEY be the main reason for your move. Here in the U.S. you get less paid leave, AND have LESS maternity leave. Unlike in the UK. Then there’s having to deal with all the ‘crazies’ here, with the gun culture, and I also remind people that even though you get paid more in the U.S. you have to pay for health insurance, Co-pays, and have to meet what they call here deductibles… something you don’t have to worry about in the UK. So more pay in the U.S. but you are having to pay for you and your family’s healthcare that is coming out of your paycheck. America is more of a Corporation/Business than a country. Its capitalism at its finest. They themselves will tell you that. The healthcare system here is disgusting…It’s all about money here. You either have it or don’t And if you don’t, that cushion that the UK/European system has, the U.S. doesn’t.

    However, if an RN with higher degrees, in the USA on staff get accrued sick time and vacation time. Yes, NY is busy, but depends on where in NY. There is Queens and Long Island, that are mainly residential, with larger homes, better schools, suburbs. However, the taxes are based on location, neighborhood, schools etc. I wish her well. England and the USA has their drawbacks.

    Sometimes everything is not about money, it's that piece of mind you get when you're driving, going into a supermarket or church, USA is crazy expecially for black and brown folks and children. She mentioned the quality of work is easy, that's not America, it's you're company you work for because all facilities in the USA are not the same, pay period or also defer per facilities, in the USA you make money to pay bill, I live in the USA for more that 40yrs in many states, so when refer to the USA, you need to be realistic and refer to New York city not the USA because all states are different rules my dear

      @liliannjau5585 accessibility varies, I've never had any time when I needed a healthcare service, whether urgent or check up, and I don't get it. Don't forget that factors remain constant world wide, I live outside London(Horsham before and now Windsor), and my experience pushed me to get into healthcare. Immediate help from my GPs to hospital services. One time, I was ill, and I got a full body check up, from Obs to MRI in one day. Aahh. I don't complain, trust me. And those who complain, I remind them of their location sometimes, esp those in London.

      I hope so too, women give up so much for marriage and then get disappointed at the end. Men, on the other hand, will still do whatever they want to do even if they get married.
      Five years ago, my friend got a job in the USA but her boyfriend isn't interested in living abroad. He convinced her not to go, and she agreed. I said all I could say, telling her she was making a mistake. There are people worth such sacrifice, I didn't see her boyfriend as someone worth the sacrifice. To cut the story short, they got married the following year, but as I am typing this, her husband has been living with another woman. He always claims he is going on a business trip but goes to stay with another woman. I can't even describe what an agony it's been for my friend. We should be careful in choosing a life partner so that we don't regret our sacrifices.

  • @adaomabright5158
    @adaomabright5158 ปีที่แล้ว +17

    Nice video. However, i still spot lots of gap in the analysis. Like she says, she's fairly new to the UK, so she's pardoned. A whole lot of pros were missed out and the comparisons need a bit more critical analysis. For instance, even London that is as expensive as NYC has a pay difference called "London weighting", health care is free, free medication for kids until they are 18 and from free for those aged 60 years above, those btw 19 to 59 years, their medication is subsidised; the best schools are free, uniforms for kids in the UK over mufti/trendy fashion which cost alot, especially for children. Sick leave is more than a month and is paid, and you can be off sick for upto 4days to take care of yourself or your kids, without them counting it as sick leave for you and you still get your complete salary; annual leave rises over time upto 35 days and all paid, so you don't have to work back to back to create a month worth of annual leave that isn’t still paid like she can do if its in the US; compassionate leave is paid; carers leave too; pension scheme; staff benefits or salary sacrifices which you can purchase stuffs like car of your choice, before HMRC can even tax your salary; you can purchase additional leave from your salary; free training for continuous professional development or even university degree, including apprenticeships, if your manager approves and the organisation is willing to fund it and you don't have to refund it. There are alot o! But you have to understand the system and ask questions from the designated department or website for staff resources to know this.

    • @adaomabright5158
      @adaomabright5158 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Above all, quality of life matters, and that's why the UK has a longer life expectancy. Those people you think don't have enough salary to even safe will shock you. Na conservative life them dey live for here, they trek alot too. An average UK person would rather use public transport or trek, which is healthy, than drive for an hour, them no like headache or stress. Nobody dey see anybody. Just be comfortable and happy or get yourself a cup of tea 😂 and you'll be fine.

By the time she has lived in the UK for 5 years, she might not want to return to the USA after all. Money is not everything o. Usa is a great country. Yes it ! ❤️
    But please be ready to double up when you get to the Usa. Remember to always stay and remain strapped 🔫 to protect your self and family.
    Be ready to pay $1600 to $1800 for a one bedroom apartment, and $1800 to 2700 for a 2bedroom apartment. If you are a large family! Please be ready to pay $2700 to $3500 for a 3bedroom family house .
    Please, if you have school age kids , please be ready to buckle up coz sex and gender is massively been thought and introduced to younger kids in public schools.
    If you are rich enough to send your kids to a Christain private school, please be ready to pay $7,000 to $10,000for a pre-k to kindergarten age And $10,000 to 15,000 for 1st grader to middle schooler kids.
    If you are a family of 1-3 be ready to spend $600 -$1500 on monthly grocery and food stuffs . And please, be ready to spend more incase you strictly eat and cook african meal in your home.
    For the ladies , plz Always remember your car keys holder or home key holder needs to be a pepper spray and teaser attached to your bunch of keys.
    Please for the ones with cars , always remember not everyone driving on the American road is normal. A lot of them get choko for head. Don’t go aggressive if they get on your nerves on the road . Road rage is real out here.
    Always remember to stay strap on every gas station trips . You might get robbed in a second in any gas station. Always be vigilant.
    For y’all with lil kids, please remember Medicaid don’t give out free healthcare insurance coverage to kids from immigrants, non-USA citizens from averagely ok home , and won’t give free insurance coverage to kids that is even a usa citizen . ( to qualify , you must have proof of hardship) .
    And for adults be ready to pay high health care insurance fee.
    For anyone planing to purchase a home in the USA, mortgages for good neighborhood and great school districts is from $3,000 to $5000.( remember it might even be higher due to credit history or choice of home). And plz note, your mortgages are not exempted from any yearly increase. So please be ready to join your home district tax protest yearly, coz the usa government isn’t smiling with the yearly property tax increase anymore .
    If you have teenage kids , please always remember you can’t leave them out there alone . Always know your kids are not safe out there alone , especially for the black ones .
    And lastly! Kidnappers are out here massively doing there jobs. Stay vigilant if you don’t wanna open your eyes in a basement in Mexico and Columbia on a sex trafficking tour with the bad guys . This is not a cancun tour . And yes , they target younger kids too.
    Remember to pray to God on a daily basis for protection over you and your family. 🙏
    Stay safe and I wish y’all in the UK planning to move down all the best .
    And please remember: "Protecting our safety should always take precedence over pursuing financial gain, because without our health , life and well-being there is no wealth worth having."

    UK is expensive but if you compare it with New York, my gosh New York is nuts. However, other states are great. Sign on bonuses on regular hospitals in the US give you 5,000 to 30K just signing to work for 2 to 3 years aside from the high hourly pay, time and a half, extra incentive pay for just picking up extra shift etc. Travel nursing is even so much more. You can pick 4 weeks to 13 weeks assignment, get paid for housing, big incentive for just completing your 4-13 week assignment. And basically control when or where you work.

      @@MaimounahFaizon-pt7dl I am from Florida, been nurse since ‘95. There will always be pot heads in major cities , however you have to pick well which real estate you want to work or live in. The US is such a big country, even in one state you have such differing lifestyles, rural, suburbs , or major city. After we work night shift, my hubby ( also an RN) go to the park and walk our dogs or if we’re not back working go to the beach and get breakfast. Like so many nurses, I am blessed to have been able to help my extended family, brothers and sisters, from the pay I get. My sister I sent to nursing school and is now in Ireland is moving here this summer. My brother I sent to nursing school now a dialysis RN, moving close to us too. It has been a blessing to our family and their spouses without sacrificing quality of life. Just because there are gun laws doesn’t make the whole place unsafe. Yes, one of the sacrifices we make for poor planning. If you want to live in the US, then marry someone who lives in the US. The husband has always liked the UK. So he married an American citizen, lived there for 5 years to get green card and passport, and then uprooted the wife and family to the UK. Men are good strategic planners that think with their heads but women think with their hearts and emotions. Lesson here: if you don't have a plan, someone will make you follow their own plan
