  • 5 basic grappling techniques.
Some are better than others depending on the rule set. High C is one that is risky for BJJ because of the guillotine risk.
    We have here:
    Double leg
    High C
    Single
    Front headlock
    Upper body throw
If you like my instructions on youtube, you will LOVE my Judofanatics instruction series. It is organized and much more detailed. I have three products out right now. Judo Basic Concepts, Judo Leg Grab Basics and Judo Combinations.

🙏🏽 coach Shintaro - love your videos, could you do a specific video on Kuzushi. How to generate the off balance before executing the throws and/or would it be possible to put some tape on the ground and show us exactly where our feet need to go/should aim for /for various throws. I feel this is a huge gap in my game and feel beginners would really benefit from your expertise on this

@@Shigashi84 amazing! Most of my research explains kuzushi from neutral stance- but when we try to execute in sparring things are obviously very different. It would be great to hear your thoughts on how to read your opponent, where the vulnerabilities are and therfore how to most effectively generate the off-balance. Im trying to figure it out myself but your experience and insights would be invaluable! Perhaps an entire dvd - I'd def add it to my collection of yours

Thanks again for the video Shintaro! Super interesting that your list really prioritizes wrestling technique like singles and doubles. And I think thats a good thing to note. more technical grappling manuovers are fine and all, but its much better to focus on something you can do more consistently rather than requiring you to be in a very specific position and your opponent to be as well. Not to mention in the hear of things its often best to go back to the basics

Thank you for all the videos sensei Higashi! Your channel is my favorite on TH-cam!
Could you possibly give some tips on attacks from the opponent's back when standing?
I'm a small 164cm, 60kg guy who goes freestyle with 80 to 90kg guys who tower over me - I sometimes manage to spin around to their backs but can never figure out what to do from there - can't reach their necks to strangle, not strong enough to lift them and ura nage, the "sit down" "throw" is a bit of a pansy move... It's a position which we don't train in judo (which is what I do mainly) hence I'm never sure what to do when I'm there. Could you perhaps give us some of your pearls of wisdom?

I’ve had to grapple/wrestle my way out of shit. When you are tiny these techniques will save your life esp when someone is coming at you with arms the size of your legs 🦵 and all they have is a powerful punch and upper body strength. About 99% of people expect a punch they never see a leg or tackle coming unless you have training of anything like this then you know.... if you small I suggest this and kick boxing to learn how to employ your whole body to level the field with attackers. And also these techniques can be done to counter stuff like sucker punches attack from behind and other shit sociopaths do to the rest of us..... be safe out there

depends on how quick you are with the take down, when i shoot a double in bjj even if they are able to catch my neck for a guillotine it wouldn’t matter since i was so quick in taking mount

@@senpai_1829 depends,a untrained dude isn’t gonna know how to sink in a guillotine. but when you’re just in a training scenario the only way to get better is to do it! and also usually the head should be on the lower hip not near the armpit to ensure that you won’t get choked! but you are right if this isn’t done with the proper amount of speed technique can lead someone into a dangerous situation
