To be fair, their mistake for making their main and sometimes only income revenue from a lame untrustworthy platform such as TH-cam.

Reason being airsoft firearms look like the real deal, also as we are also the audience here most of us don't care much for guns. Gaming is gaming, there are no firearms involved in gaming they are graphics/animations. The policies based around gaming are 'for content showing dead bodies (without context), game violence directed at a real, named person or acts that’s created to intentionally shock and disgust, and videos showing an implied moment of death.' They've actually reviewed the recent changes they made to gaming policy in 2019 and have been working with the community to find a compromise.
You and people like you are the reason these policies exist, because you think everything is about America and yourself. You don't actually research what you're talking about you seem like the kinda guy that's going to watch a video on how to modify your firearm without looking into your local laws on the subject. Something simple as pressing the bolt catch on a rifle would be an immediate red flag for TH-cam, and TH-cam knows this. In the moment, for me, I regard these new rules as serving the purpose of intentionally pressuring weapon operating channels into dulling their content with more or less seconds per video, in which there is less watch time per video due to the fact that they can no longer display weapon operation, but more time with longer sponsorship descriptions and unnecessary reminders to follow them on multiple platforms and to like and subscribe. It's all about damaging the right to bear arms and continue to hold their precious money.

That's literally what they want to do. They hate your hobby for whatever justification they have and don't like seeing it on youtube. Simple as. Doesn't matter what their reasoning is the company and its people who manage it hate gun content. That's it.
TH-cam 100% doesn't want to deal with firearm content anymore. They probably see this as the 'compromise' and would rather just ban it entirely.
The point about YT not being a content platform anymore but primarily an ad platform is the big one. The only advertisers comfortable with firearms are usually fiirearms manufacturers or related to them.
The sad fact is they aren't a big part of YTs revenue, and pose a massive risk in that companies paying for ads do not want to be associated with firearms or their inherent political associations.
It's about money, pure and simple.
It is possible they do it all the time and so does most sites like amazon TH-cam just does not care though... Which is odd as TH-cam has never made moeney so why try so hard?

I really wish TH-cam would go back to the way it was before google screwed it up. When I was in high school, as long as it wasn't something illegal, they stood by their moto "broadcast yourself." Just mirroring on Odyssey or rumble can help. I watch a pretty crazy guy that flips the bird to TH-cam halfway through his stream then streams the rest on alt platforms. He maintains about 30k viewers throughout his whole stream. Just saying it can be done.
They also have new rules on Text to Speech style channels that no matter the actual effort put in if it uses a TTS instead of a voice over the video gets no money.
Beat them at their own game. The algorithm is pushing Shorts hard right now to compete with Tik Tok. Post a short and/ or 2 - 3 minute video showing the gun with the caption "Check out the full video on Rumble". In order to migrate people over to Rumble, you have to repeatedly state that you're over there. People don't know to look if you've never stated that you're posting there. I know of several podcasts that have stated they gave up posting to Rumble because no one was watching... and they never once stated that were posting over there. Right now, you won't get an organic audience over there, that's true, but in order to eventually make that happen, you have to pull your current viewers to that platform with content that's restricted on TH-cam.
That and a 2-5min. preview with the Rumble link in the description...
@Arkady86 not 5 minutes, thats too long. 1-3 minutes for a video, or shorter if you wanted to make it into a short. Make the money from TH-cam monetization and Rumble while moving your audience to Rumble. If TH-cam doesn't want the whole thing, they can pay you to send their traffic elsewhere, all while utilizing their algorithm to draw in new viewers.

@@manindisgiuze7780 If you bothered to look some of the streamers like Nick Rekieta and Steven Crowder were able to pull in a lot of viewers. Crowder in particular pulled in north of 20k viewer on a stream which is TH-cam numbers. I know Nick Rekita is pulling in 2k to 4k on regular live streams, with more on his VOD. The main problem with Rumble is it is not yet a platform to build a audience, but if you already have one it's better then YT at the moment.
That just tells you that it's not a bug but actually a feature - they're doing everything they can to not actually have the videos on the platform that they don't like arbitrarily

Alabama- the Court held that the property rights of a private entity are not sufficient to justify the restriction of a community of citizens' fundamental rights and liberties. So this idea that private companies can censor whoever they want without it being censorship is absolute rubbish. Furthermore you’re watching this on a network that was built by the Telephone companies, which was heavily subsidies by the united states government, which gets its money from the tax payer.
So, admittedly I use to be one of those anti gun guys, but having changed drastically I can see from my pasts POV, youtube is basically trying to inch its way to pushing guntubers off their platform, they conform to the idea that no one other than police or military should have a firearm so you see these really indepth yet somehow vague rules being made that are like landmines for creators to walk around with a map, but youtube just decides to add a few more on the path.
This mixed with their idea of either automating moderation or just straight up being inept at any form of technical aid or any form of aid to its content creators in general just worsens the already decaying body that is this website.
The profanity rules were already idiotic as they are since youtube already has a childrens version, but now with these new guntuber rules, its shows they're not only pandering to anti-gun ideals, but also don't know a single thing about a firearm. It IS illegal. You can sue them for violation of contract and report them to the SEC for a violation that they can be fined quite heavily for because they're committing fraud. People need to start reporting them and taking them to federal court.

Each new guideline (unapproved) creators are made to follow is another idea they can't explore, an opinion they can't air, a thought they can't have.

This is "for" advertising? Okay, if that's the case, why are the same advertisers putting ads on TV channels that show movies (with commercials) that have guns on them? Why can't TH-cam just make advertisements "location based" like how I'm sure advertisers on the TV do?
TH-cam needs a competitor but it only has alternatives that don't even try to be as good. The only one i even care about is the gun one.

More people are using alernatives because of this insanity. Rumble & Odysee are some of the best so far in being committed to letting you make your content. They have a ways to go infrastructure & site feature wise, but the more people use them the better they get. We don't have to be beholden to TH-cam soley anymore. But we also have to promote the competition otherwise no one will know.
Is this going to affect video game channels? They load mags, have high capacity mags, and show accessory changing.
That's what my concern was cuz if that's the case there are many channels I watch about to be nuked.
If it is, it won't be a quick change as that's like 60% or more of the entire platform

The fact that YT is now enforcing the creators to do the jobs of YT personnel in the lines of clarity; Just goes to show how YT is now attempting to make a push for more laziness on their part. If the vid creator isn't explicitly clear about every little thing, YT can and will remove them from the platform. Yet another reason YT needs a real competitor site to come up and beat some sense into them, by damaging YT's bottom line.

I have a feeling with just how popular guns are and how many views these channels get, if they just stop caring about ads and run the videos as a big middle finger to TH-cam, when TH-cam starts loosing millions in ad revenue because these videos aren’t making them money… they’ll change or the company will die
It's not a bad initiative, the problem is that I don't know how well this would work for guntubers that wouldn't receive money through other ways, big guntubers can probably shrug it off and keep uploading it, since they get donations and such that allow for them to continue. Although as you said, the views, maybe if these viewers tend to donate or join a patreon or such, then I think we could see it working. The problem, as for the same with going to an alternative YT choice, is the initiative.

I wonder if gun TH-camrs can't use Twitter as a mean of discoverability and just upload their videos on whatever alternative platform there is. The revenue would be reliant on donations, merch and sales.

Getting a strike or demonitized on old videos is outrageous, especially when most YT contacts would tell you past videos are safe from rule and code of conduct changes. It's like they are trying to ruin their image intentionally. Rumble gets bigger every day, thanks to nonsense like this.

Honestly I kind of get TH-cams logic behind it, especially considering that gun videos are on very thin ice when it comes to laws in some countries, which a globally operating videoplatform has to conform to. The alternative would be for youtube to starting to region- and geoblock videos again, which would be even worse for creators and viewers in the end.
If it is just an overreaction to the constant mass shootings in the US and youtube's concerns about wanting to be a "child- and family safe enviorment", then they should much rather start enforcing proper age verification and age restriction systems, rather than forcing every video into being "child friendly". They have youtube kids for a reason.
