Mark grist came to my school today and started rapping.
ME TOO
Asia Llama You went to someones school and started rapping?
nice selfie Amon
Matthew Tam Thanks, it's what all the non-benders do these days.
He came to mine too
Anyone here, 12 years later? Im back.
Still think of this battle once every while and look it up to watch!
Same here man. It's a proper classic
Same
I'm here. Just referencing this in a Reddit post.
Yes
Mark’s 2nd verse was the most complex and well delivered “your mum” joke in history
This is still my favourite don't flop battle on TH-cam
my man mark grist, went to school with him
2019 still fucking good
Suggest you watch more battles....
@@mezalong I didn't say this was the best just my favourite
@@tyqwe45qe 2022, still still good
Major props to Blizzard for being a good sport. They both seem like cool guys.
I’ve met him! He came to my school to do a presentation on poetry a few years ago, but did a sort of meet and greet after. He was a really cool and nice guy and even performed one of his verses in front of the whole of y9 😂
(Grist that is obv)
this teacher must be the coolest teacher in d world....
***** chill bro, you mad because the other guy loses?
Yeah Mark Grist came to my school
@@jayblueridgesumilhig he isnt shit at maths
@@sticktour6323 same
He came into my school before
blizzard had good bars but terrible delivery, incredibly rushed. Marks fluency while spitting earned him the win tbh
Be there and you will hear it with more open ears than you headphones. The crowd helps. Like watching a football game on tv or in the stadium!
True
plus Mark is an English teacher
@@alsadig6727 & yet he still said don't mean nothing. He certainly won this, but you would think he knew his double negatives.
@@Ethan-Entah he said that because it rhymed and fit the meter...
@@Usdi1999 From a rap technicals pov I understand why he did it, but being a teacher you'd think he would've thought of a way of saying it grammatically correct.
Can’t believe this was 11 years ago. Blizzard’s wordplay is fantastic. Grist is legendary.
Agreed. They were both good and both appreciated each other, that's how it should be.
man, 4 years and it is still awesome to watch
even 6 years!
Even 7 years
James Hackney even 8 years
Even 12 years
This is the friendliest rap battle I've ever seen. Refreshing.
8 years later, this still stands up as one of the deepest cuts. My boy Grist out here slaying all these Mancunian pups. Shits all over US battles that rely on music to be half-decent, too. 🧐
....And to think that Mark came to my school today and started rapping....
Come back to this 5 years later. Still awesome.
Same
2011?
Same
Damn who’s back in 2021
21 mins later, ol' Mr Grist - even now, he rinses all those in the venue
This kid is going to class without even knowing it
i met mark grist yesterday at my college haha, hes an amazing guy
Mark Grist's second verse completely slaughters me every time. Love it.
-FT
Still the best Don't Flop video, 6 years on. Mark Grist - What a legend
Deviant Killer I met Mark Grist yesterday he was amazing!
blizzard- thinks hes amazing
Mark- knows hes amazing
🥴
Give blizzard time to grow he's gonna be the best ever
Mark's vocab was much more extensive, and the wider variety of angles in which he disses was far superior.
Always come back to this battle. Funniest and most entertaining, had me in stitches and still does 😂
I've watched this battle hundreds of times and its not enough
11 years later and still the best DFRB. Grist wins but Blizzard is on point throughout, and he constantly shows respect to Mark. The mutual respect is clear to see.
I still remember Blizzard calling Lowkey wack. Meanwhile he got slaughtered by a fucking teacher hahahaha
KnownEpidemic yeah but Blizzard did ok in this one
+KnownEpidemic But really Mark kills it almost every single time
Nathan Reed I'm only fucking around man. But I still can't respect Blizzard, ever since I heard him spout that bullshit about Lowkey.
Aye agreed!
KnownEpidemic have u seen blizzards freestyle on Westwood. That was next level I will never have ran out of respect for him
Grist has a swag level of 9 million
I feel like, if Blizzard has to keep stopping to explain his lines, there's no way he was going to win.
Keep coming back to this video. Amazing!
I can appreciate this for sure!
These guys would be great doing Shakespeare. I can just see them doing Tybalt and Mercutio.

*raises hand in the air then claps*
"Okay, okay"
He is SUCH a teacher!
I'm here in 2022 and this is still as good as when I first watched it 7 years ago
Mark sounds like Derren Brown lol.
Well, they are both from Bristol.
I did not know that, but now i do, i am blessed by your intelligence, thank you.
when ur teacher teaches you a lesson
Good one
Such a good battle! Poor little fellow Blizzard dow, keep spitting anger and then just getting ripped by a teacher...
What a good battle! Thanks for sharing :)
I often come back to this crazy battle!
"To those at home who are sitting watching TH-cam - don't start clicking! I know this might look like some kind of extreme babysitting" Buahahaha ha! Hilarious & clever punchlines :DDD Respect for both Blizzard & Mark Grist!
+ really cool intro song - "61 Grace" by Booda French.
Man that was a slaughter xD Props to Blizzard though, not only did he take take his defeat like a champ, his verses weren't anything to sniff at themselves.
fucking love Mark Grist
Mark is so poised, ridiculously calm and collected
This is the first time I'm watching Don't Flop and I'm glad that it's this one. It's fucking awesome!
Always come back to this time to time it’s too good😂
Back again 😂
welcome back
1:06 to skip intro
Who's here after Blizzards new road rage?
George 1 me
"slobberin like a doberman" Grist killed it
I like when people do the rapping. it making my ears feels the nice :)
Genius, love it great upload
What's the beginning song?
holy shit this vid went viral. awesome for DF, props to Eurgh, cuz this canadian never misses a British battle and there once was a time I hated the accent but bars are bars.
I don't know why I've decided to pick this out, but, damn this dudes jumper is dirty as hell 15:00
That vein popping out of his forehead as well thoooo
mamz37
He probably shoots heroin into it.
no its not
Some crazy talent !
Punchlines goin' everywhere
MuchLove !
Lol. This was awesome. Thoroughly enjoyed :)
watching this a year later after the mark grist hype has gone I've noticed blizzard was highly slept on, grist still took it but blizzard did get slept on a lot
He wears a suit to a rap battle, the definition of classy
Everything about this video is great!
blizzard aka devvo m8
You know you've lost when the MC throws his head back to laugh at your opponent's verbal jabs
Damn feels like only yesterday I watched this when it dropped! 2011😵
This never gets old. Time!
I saw Mark Grist preform at Frank Hamilton's gig the other night and I must say, the story behind this is brilliant :')
Best days of don't flop
I actually think Bradley/Blizzard did well to keep his cool, and laugh at Mark's lines. *Apply cold water to the burned area*
DONTFLOP! home of the biggest battles!
One of the classic Don't Flop battles
my word play is glorious, when i spit them bars it'll leave you stumped.........like Oscar Pistorius.
Hahahahahahahahahahahaahahahah!
Shots fired
I WAS THERE!!!! sorry, just got too excited lmao. Diztract was amazing!!!! He killed all of them. I would love to see him battle blizzard. And considering he is like 17/18 (giving a guess by the way he looks) he seemed so experienced like someone who had been battling for over 10years. I want to see him on DF. and thanks for providing the twitter name :)
I still watch this it's quality and this teacher is a fuckin legend 👏
Had him come to my school today. Absolute legend
Mark grist vs Daylyt. what could be the potentially the weirdest thing we will ever see.
Devon Guy Blizzard against Arsonal
“Besides being date raped by Australian women” is a line I never thought I’d hear
2022 and there are now iphone apps that are older than some highschoolers
My class had a supply yesterday, this explains everything.
Can we just appreciate that a schoolboy and his old teacher went against eachother in a commercial rap battle.. Don't Flop was killing the game man, UK rap culture peaked at this very moment
i remember watching dont flop when i was in middle school🙏🙏
He wasn’t actually his teacher
@@AA-tl8im yes he was i wss in their class
@@poolbwoy6585 ok sure. Cool story bro.
@@AA-tl8im ur jealous u werent learning maths with us :P
Sino pumunta dito para malaman kung sino yung Mark Grist na makakalaban ni Loonie sa fliptop?

this is the best battle video from dont flop
This is great now imagine seeing this man live follow Mark grist about he's doing bits
No way this was 11 years ago????
Mark Grist was in our lessons for a few weeks. Absolutely brilliant!
Forever a fav love this
both were amazing and entertaining
Mark Grist absolutely smashed it! Need to see that guy more in Dont Flop
Marks face when blizzard was addressing the camera is so funny
Shiiiiiiittt first time listening longer than a minute to british rap, and I have to say it sounds dammnnnn nice! Even if I have problem catching up all words, the skill level is high there too, nice
'ya bender' hahaha brilliant! Not heard that for time man!
Blizzard won this battle
Said nobody ever...
@Serial Killa whole heartedly agree with you mate. For example you chat gas mark on varying degrees. If he was battling a lot of the rappers on df he probably woulda won. Just a shame mark is a world class poet.
Intro song I've never heard someone try and jack MF Doom's style so much.
Tbh watching all of blizzards and grists battles they are both really clever. They would be a good dynamic duo
one the greatest rap battles of all time
"Because he only collected most of them" lmao I'm dead.
I wasn't expecting too much from Mark never hearing him before but he fucking destroyed Blizzard by miles.
for anyone wondering about the intro song...... Booda French "61 Grace" prod. J57
"When it sits down it sounds like a sea lion applauding" best thing ever
I wish he was my teacher
"hides the fact they don't mean nothing" he's supposed to be a English teacher and he comes out with this 😂😂😂
dee bee Since when did truth stop counting as meaningful bars? He's right. The faster the pace of rapping, the more words and the harder it is to decipher the meaning of what is said, the more it all resembles inflation. And the "impressing" effect of it being said fast, I would also say, hides the fact that less is actually being said.
holm81 I think he meant because it's a double negative...
JumpUpSoldier Point taken. :) But it's after all rap, which was born out of, and continues to use slang. IMO for the better.
yes I get that, but the meaning of what he was was that blizzards bars make sense, as its a double negative, rap is about being smart, if you can insult and/or disrespect your opponent by using smart bars then that makes you a better mc, if there's "mc 1" and "mc 2" for example in a battle and mx 1 comes out with more insulting bars but aren't that clever, but mc 2 comes out with bars that aren't as insulting but are clever then mc 2 wins, that's how it works, so basically the smarter mc is the better mc, and being a victim of accidental-double-negative side of things is not a good/clever thing to be doing, specially when you're supposed to be a English teacher
dee bee I guess I understand your logic, ie. that the smartest bars always wins. I think I agree with that. Though I can imagine clever and unfunky bars losing to funky fresh ones, qua this also being a musical/soul genre. Principally, and from battle rap viewing experience, I completely agree though. Where I would disagree is weather double negatives are clever or not. I know formally, you ain't supposed to do none of that shit. But taking the history of rap into account, seeing as it has grown out of a ghetto culture, where this type of language is common, I think it's a type of flair and actually some kind of ability to listen to the form of the medium and adapt to it's informality and flowpatterns - and thus, really quite clever. Both Grist and Blizzard came correct though. Both where clever. I have to give respect to Grist for staying so much within the limits of regular battle rap though, iscold dissing Blizzards moms etc. Shit is tough. Peace.
This is just fire.
Teacher is great. The kid deserves respect too - razor sharp
Man thah teach is a frickin legend
Cant believe its been nearly a decade since Blizzard started sixth form , kid got schooled 😅
It is a crime that I can only give this one thumbs up.
This the first battle i saw on dont flop , year ago
