Great content. My camp, Anonymous Village (5:30 & G) is transitioning from Monkey Huts and carports to flat roof shade structures. We are full time Lag bolt fans. No nails, no stakes, no rebar, no candy canes. We also put all the roof tarps on the structure before raising it. Even in the wind on Playa, if you raise the downwind side of the roof first, it (probably) won't flow away. Plus, the tarps with bungy balls all around do a pretty good job of keeping all the perimeter poles tightly together. For windy Playa conditions, I'd suggest you consider adding ratchet straps from the top of each OUTER pole down to one of the lag bolts at the base. Otherwise you're counting on the friction of that set screw holding the roof on, which may not be enough. Last year in Mud Man 2023 using solid waterproof roof tarp material instead of open shade cloth made quite a difference. Fewer drips. See you soon.
Thanks a bunch. This will be my first year and i found this really helpful to understand how people tackle shade out there. Appreciate you taking the time to make the video. ✌️

So sick. Thanks for sharing! I haven't been to the big Burn yet but gearing up to do so soon, and this was very helpful
